Week in Review (November 30 - December 6)

Tuesday (5,491 steps) - TRAVEL. We had to get up and be out of the hotel by 5:45 so we could drop off the rental car and get on the shuttle back to the airport. I was worried about the payment stuff since the card that they had used for the deposit was the one I had to report lost, but they said they would figure it out. I was REALLY glad that I had planned on extra time for the airport. It was a ZOO. Other than our trip to Virginia for Cloudsplitter, I haven't seen so many people in a LONG time. Luckily we made it through with enough time that we didn't miss our flight. Was really not looking forward to an out of the way flight to DETROIT. Flight was "ok" - still pretty turbulent, it seems all my flights are like that lately. Read a lot more of my book. Landed with enough time to get some food before our final flight.
We left on time and I finished my book. Arrived at DIA and called Ang to pick us up. Drive home was uneventful. Ariel and I went to Yogurtland.
No recollection of the rest of the evening, other than we went to bed REALLY early.
Wednesday (11,927 steps) - Work in the office. Walked to REI at lunch so I could return a shirt. I think that's it?
Thursday (18,626 steps) - Work from home. Sadly, we had a very adventurous day. Ariel had a few free coffees on her Dunkin account, so we decided to go when I dropped her off at school. I had been at home working for mere minutes when Batman headbutted the coffee. The lid came off and it spilled ALL OVER Ben's laptop. After I spent a while trying to clean it all up and then tried to figure out what the chances of ever getting it to work ever again, I set up my 11 year old iMac. It "worked" in the sense I could get very basic work done while connected to my network. I had a run/workout on schedule so I decided to do it at lunch. Since I had to do things like burpees and mountain climbers (among other things), I just did a LOT of intervals near the park up the street. HOLY SHIT WAS THIS HARD. I thought I was going to die when I finished my last set. THEN, I took Pika for a walk.
When A got home from school she watched some YouTube videos on cleaning the inside and taking it apart and such. I was REALLY hopeful that after a few days it would come back to life.
Friday (11,001 steps) - Wash Park with the gang and coffee after before going in to work in the office. Did a quick 30 minute Peloton ride when I got home before going down to Berkeley for a movie event. Ultimate Direction was there giving away a ton of samples, so I grabbed a tank top (which I absolutely DO NOT NEED). Fun night.
Saturday (26,210 steps) - Up early because I wanted to get my 10 miles done BEFORE we went down to Berkeley to watch the Western States and Hardrock lotteries. I definitely overdressed for this one. I gave up on the jacket after about a half mile. Other than a fall early on, it was a very "uneventful" run. It was HARD and I walked a LOT.

Once I turned around for the "easy" section, I really tried to concentrate on keeping it easy and keeping heartrate low. Not the best run, but I've certainly had worse. I had just a few minutes to shower before we needed to leave. I had decided not to enter the lottery, but Ben was in for his 5th year and was SURE it was going to be his year. He was right! He was the 44th pick (I can't help but feel like I'm somewhat responsible for him being selected - 44 is my lucky number!)
Quite a few people we know also got in, so that was exciting. The Hardrock lottery was "as expected" - no real surprises on that one. Went home, had a small lunch. Picked up Ariel's friend so they could play video games. Thought we might go out to celebrate Ben getting into Western, but ended up just picking up Yak and Yeti takeout.
Sunday (23,526 steps) - Didn't have to get up crazy early, but I did have plans to meet Kim at Green Mountain at 9:00. It was a LOT windier than I expected. I'm so sick of this weather! I would rather it be cold and NOT windy. I'd like to pretend that the only reason I couldn't keep up with Kim was because the Indian food from last night was sitting well, but I have never been fast at going uphill (or consistent). I lost her after about 2/3 of a mile and ended up doing the rest of the run alone (which was fine). I had 8-10 miles on schedule and did just over 8.
Nothing else?
Monday (14,649 steps) - Work from home. I had a LOT of work to do and my iMac was NOT cutting it. Ben's laptop did NOT magically heal itself, so I ordered a new laptop from Best Buy to pick up.  Skipped the Pika walk so I could get my "hour" run in. I did a route I haven't done in a while and I was happy to see the 12' skeleton was going to be used for Christmas decorations. The run itself wasn't that bad, and once again, I was trying to concentrate on running "easy" and not constantly looking at my watch.
Went to Northglenn to pick up the new laptop. I must have gotten better at figuring out electronics, because I was able to get it set up myself without any major issues - even the second screen! Woot! Not happy about having to spend the money on a new computer, but I also don't want to go back to working in person every day.

Stats:
  • 111,430 steps
  • 28.74 miles run
  • 30 minutes of cardio
  • 0 minutes of strength training

Week in Review (January 13 - January 19)

Tuesday - HILLS. I think I was a stronger runner when I ran the hill programs on the treadmill. I wasn't very fast, but I knocked out a 5K on a program that maxed out at something ridiculous like 7.5%.

Wednesday - I go to 24 Hour Fitness. They recently absorbed the Bally's Fitness Centers in my area. I decided to check out the one sort of near me that has an indoor track. Apparently, our current membership will not allow us to use that location without paying substantially more a month. However, I know the manager there and he let me try it out for the night. Did you know that you have to do 13 LAPS FOR A MILE?

Thursday - Just about an hour on the treadmill. I don't remember much about it so it must have been fine. Me and A are back to "cooking" and finding new recipes. We found a super simple recipe for mini meatloaves. Unfortunately, by the time we got everything made we ended up not eating dinner until almost 9:00. They were DELICIOUS (and we had leftovers for two more meals).

Friday - SUPER busy day at work. Finished packing for the big office move. I spent a bulk of the afternoon helping to pack up the supply/copy room. #pizzafriday and a quick run around the neighborhood. It was WARM out.
Saturday - Frosty's Frozen Five mile race with A! Afternoon was spent watching TV.
Sunday - In the morning, L and I ran the "Arctic" Prairie Dog Half Marathon.

In the afternoon, I made more bark. (Photo in the food montage). This time, it was milk and white chocolate swirled with Heath toffee bits and topped with caramel filled morsels. And surprise - #pizzasaturday !!!
Monday - I was supposed to have the day off for "Civil Rights Day" (did you know this is what MLK day is called now?) Unfortunately, because of the office move, I had to work and unpack. Good news is that since it was a holiday for everyone else, I got a lot done. 5K on the treadmill after work.

Miles Run - 34.6
Minutes of Cross Training - ZERO
Minutes of Strength/Stretching - ZILCH

Weekly Gain/Loss - 0 pounds (121.8)

  • So not having a gain was a big surprise. I really didn't eat that great this week. As you can see in the above picture... there was carrot cake, Yogurtland, bark, German chocolate cake. Plus, the new job has snacks - hence the chips...
  • I do, however, think the lack of stress has contributed to less stress gain (and less drinking, so...)
Everything Else
  • What else is there to say about the new job? It is a substantially busier (in a good way) desk than my last job - with a TON more variety. We moved this week and I'm pretty happy to be located right near the break room. Maybe people won't notice how many times I get up for water and snacks.
  • Um.

Week in Review (April 15 - April 21)

Tuesday - Treadmill during lunch. I attempted for REAL speed work for the first time in a billion years. This practically killed me. Did you know 8.2 mph actually feels like the speed of light?? 3.75 with overall pace around 11:00, which is awesome with walking intervals. Since I had skipped the gym on Monday, A begged to go. All I did was 30 minutes on the crossramp. Then, at home, was day two of the Fitness Blender challenge - Upper Body Superset. I have no notes on this one, but I'm assuming it was good. I like upper body workouts.
Wednesday - Day three of the Fitness Blender challenge was a HIIT video. I was NOT looking forward to it, as Heather said she almost died doing it. I did the video during lunch and for real thought I was going to have a heart attack. Not sure if HIIT is harder than speed work, but I'm tentatively saying YES. After work, EASY 7+ bike before BodyPump. Yes, I still went to BodyPump and I barely made it through.
Thursday - I tried to run during lunch. I made it one mile before I quit. Did you know my legs were BROKEN from all this cross/strength nonsense??? Ended up just walking another 1.5 walk with incline. After work, I went to "Ladies Night" - sponsored by my run club. Pearl Izumi was hosting and we got to see and try on clothing from the new summer lines. Some really nice stuff! We got goodie bags just for going, and I got a really nice pair of gloves (now that winter is mostly over). I got home and still had day 4 of the Fitness Blender challenge to go... there was an option for a cardio interval video or a stretching/yoga/pilates video. I chose the latter. I should incorporate this one into my cycle, it was a great video.
Friday - I got up early to do the final installment, day five of the Fitness Blender challenge. I was hoping I would have more time to recover for my double half marathon weekend. Total body toning & HIIT (OF COURSE). It was challenging, but not nearly as terrible as Wednesday's HIIT video.
Saturday - Beat the Heat half marathon. After the race we took the kids to the rec center for swimming. I went to bed at 8:00. Most exhausted I've ever felt.
Sunday - Westminster Trail half marathon.
Immediately after showering, we ran a few errands, and then A and I drove to Denver to meet up with friends for an Easter BBQ. The most fun EVER. Another extremely exhausting day - I was in bed around 8 again. LOL.

Monday - Even though I was DEAD, A didn't care and begged to go to the gym again. I suffered through 30 minutes on the elliptical (man, that is a horrid machine) and called it a night. I briefly thought about doing a video. Instead, I went to bed early. Again.

Weekly Miles Run - 30.95 (4.75 treadmill, 26.2 racing)
Weekly Cross Training - 7.2 miles on the bike, 1.5 miles walking, 30 minutes crossramp, 30 minutes elliptical
Minutes of Strength - 194

Weekly Gain - 0.8 pounds
  • Gotta say, this one actually surprises me. Usually I can really track where I went wrong. I was pretty careful this week, and only one meal (Easter lunch), did I really not watch what I had. Stupid body.
  • HOWEVER, I did go to Yogurtland three times? I guess I should cut back to one? (LAME).
  • As for cooking, I did make something new this week - stir fry!! As for a recipe, I didn't use one. I just had a packet of sauce (about 60 calories per serving - 2 per package), some lean pork (about 3/4 of a pound), a big red pepper, a few carrots, snap peas. About 15 minutes on the stove, and ta da!! It's pretty tasty, and not very expensive. Makes enough for about 3 days of lunch for me, and a dinner for both me and A.
Everything Else
  • I was venting with the ex-SIL the other day about my lack of dating/social life. Her response - well, you're bitchy all the time. Oh. I mean, I feel like I have always been sort of bitchy? I have been trying to reach out on Facebook and Twitter to see if anyone wants to hang out on the weekends for a beer or something, and sadly, all I get is the sound of crickets. WTF. Anyway /rant - this is just my life for now?
  • Work is actually going fairly well. I have been REALLY busy, so it has actually been really tough to get on the Internet Machine and see what is going on in the rest of the world. Thankfully, Heather keeps me apprised of all the IMPORTANT things. For real, the days fly by as I have about three times the work that I used to, so I guess that is a good thing.
  • Related: MY COMMUTE SUCKS. Especially the drive home. I cannot seem to find a good "back way" to get out of the city where I'm not sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. The office is only one mile further from my old office, and yet that ONE MILE actually does add another 10 minutes to my drive. Sigh.
  • NOTHING ELSE.

Week in Review (April 1 - April 7)

Tuesday - Upper body tabata and finally some abs.
Wednesday - Bike for 15 minutes and BodyPump. We had a sub that had a hard time giving instructions, so it was a bit hard to follow. She was using older tracks, so at least I was familiar with most of them.
Thursday -  Another good run at the gym, managed another 6+ miles. It was sweltering hot and I actually ran in just a sports bra and capris. Lots of flab flopping around, but between the lack of air circulation and the giant lights, it is REALLY HOT in the gym.
Friday - Checked out the new gym in my building. I didn't have workout clothes, so I just used the bike for a half hour, even though I was wearing pencil skirts and tights. I have a feeling the other girls that were in there were talking about me after I left.
Saturday - Intended on a long run. Then, didn't. 4ish miles, then a hurried trip to Dunkin', where I tried the jamocha almond fudge iced coffee. THAT was delicious. I then spent about 5 hours at a horse show with A and her Girl Scout troop. After a quick dinner, we went to a friend's birthday party in the mountains, where I consumed a second dinner and a ton of snacks and desserts. LONG day.

Sunday - Um, no exercise. Met up with Jessa and her son to see the new Muppet movie, which was cute. Lunch of a giant spicy burger, mac & cheese and beer. Went to Jessa's house for the remainder of the afternoon. Dinner, Yogurtland, homework, bed. Where did the weekend go?
Monday - Went to the gym during lunch and did the butt and thigh "drop it like a squat" video. Tried running after work and apparently I have something weird going on with my right ankle. It feels... "tight" and "off" - almost like it needs to crack or something? I barely got in two miles and could tell my gait was getting weird, so I stopped.

Weekly Miles Run - 12.55 (All treadmill, and my lowest week... um forever. Even the week after my 100 I ran more than that. So, there's that).
Weekly Cross Training - 2 rides on the bike, 9+ miles and 45 minutes total. Also some walking, which I'm not counting, but it was there.
Minutes of Strength - 156

Weekly Gain - 2.8 pounds
  • I know, I know. I don't know what it is, other than I have lost all self-control. Not even pictured are the piece(s) of cheesecake I had on Saturday night, mucho beer and tons of other things I cannot remember. I have got to get this under control. Highest weight since the second week of June (week six of #NotEatingAllTheThings)
Everything Else
  • Our office move is finally done. What a stressful week. Pretty much everything is unpacked, we have some issues with a lot less storage space, but so far, I like the new building.
  • Related: Our building has a gym, which is nice. I will likely go a few times a week, just to get out of the office.
  • I'm not super crazy about the commute, as it is further and I have to actually drive into Denver. Lots of traffic, one-way streets and random construction. No fun.
  • The LEAST fun has been dealing with the parking at my new garage. Prior to the move (around March 20), I prepaid for the month of April in a lot a few blocks away. First day, my pass doesn't work. I find out that the pass that was sent to me was from the old management company and even though they were never owning/operating the lot on/after April 1, they billed me and sent me a pass that was never going to open the garage door. Long story short, 8 days later, I finally have access to my garage but the new owners claim I owe them money. That's been fun.
  • Related: the new assistant has apparently done NOTHING since she got hired, and I have spent the last week trying to get HER caught up.
  • Related: the new managing Partners have offered me a raise. The two terms are that I now worked for one of the managing Partners, as well as the three named Partners. One of the named Partners is VERY high maintenance, so I'm concerned about that. Also, raise does not go into effect until June. But... second raise in just a few months, so that is good.
  • Related: As a result of the reorganization and the addition of some new duties, I have been SLAMMED at work for the last few weeks. I barely have time to even text or check email. Not sure if that will last, but it is nice not watching the clock all day.

Week in Review (Jan 28 - Feb 3)

Tuesday - 1 mile in the basement inferno and then a little bit of everything (arms, thighs, 8 min abs, little black dress boot camp and yoga/stretch). I really enjoy doing a bunch of really short videos. Yay Fitness Blender!

Broncos Mania in full force Downtown Denver
Wednesday - Really REALLY great 2.15 miles before class. BodyPump killed me. Again.
Thursday - Just over 6 miles. It was Broncos day at the gym, so I did all this in cotton. How I ever did this in the past is BEYOND me.

Friday - 2 miles in the basement inferno. I don't even know why I would do that.
Saturday - Sadly, no outdoor run this week. Way too cold, snowy and icy for someone as wimpy as me. I dragged L to the gym and did just over 4 on the treadmill. Not great, not awful, not as long as I wanted. Oh, and for some reason I wore long sleeves. Why would I do that?? Oh wells.

L brought home VOODOO!!! We had 3 Dirty Bastards to split between the two of us. What a lovely surprise!! Spent most of the day on the couch, but also did some grocery shopping for my great adventure of the weekend - cooking dinner. Yes, I know that many of you do this ALL THE TIME. I, however, do not. So that night, I spent 1 hour and 3 minutes preparing dinner (spoiler, so far we have had 2 dinners and a lunch and there is still enough left for one more lunch). PS - It snowed for like 2 days straight:

Sunday - I did my mile in the basement inferno early, to get it out of the way. Good thing I did, because I literally spent the rest of the day eating. I had thought I might do something else later, but no. I did nothing. We went to get donuts in the morning, then more Target shopping. A had homework about Groundhog Day. This picture has had me lol'ing for days:

Couch/TV time and then headed to my parents house for the Superbowl. What a ridiculous game. I watched it all, except the halftime show. My favorite commercial was the Audi Doberhuahua.
Monday - 5 pretty terrible miles on the treadmill. During the winter, they don't turn on the ceiling fans in the treadmill bay. I DON'T KNOW WHY SINCE THERE ARE A BILLION PEOPLE AND IT IS THE HOTTEST EVER. Speaking of the hottest ever, the cute guy from the gym was on the treadmill next to me for a few minutes AND I saw him shirtless in the sauna again. Best part of my week, lol.

I normally go to Yogurtland every Monday. This Monday they were giving out free froyo from 4-7. I didn't want to wait in line, so we went after the gym, only to find out they were CLOSED for clean-up for at least an hour. We went home, had dinner, and came back. Ended up with 10 free oz. My addiction is getting a bit out of hand. I realize this.

Weekly Miles Run - 21.39 (all treadmill)
Weekly Cross Training - ZERO
Minutes of Strength Training - 98 (slacked a bit...)

Weekly Gain - 0.2 pounds
  • More than ok with the gain. Sunday alone, I literally ate a whole box of Girl Scout cookies. (There are only like 14 in a box now, don't panic).
  • Superbowl was a free-for-all. Jalapeno & Chipotle bratwurst from Sprouts, chips and queso, DONUTS, potato salad, brownies and beer. Yum, yum, yum.
  • I think I only had 1 frozen dinner all week. I took sandwiches for lunch almost all week - another experiment to see if this will save even more money. Not sure on this one yet.
  • Again, did not go out to eat all week (except to get donuts and froyo - those aren't MEALS though, lol).
 Everything Else
  • In the never ending saga that is my job... So I made a risky move on Wednesday. I went into the Office Manager's office and told her I thought it was best if I just put in my two weeks notice. I don't feel appreciated and I don't make enough money to go "down with the ship." She claims that conversations have been had with the Shareholders and that she thinks I will be getting a raise, and she hopes it is a "number that will make me happy." She followed with, I will personally help you find another job if we can't make this work for you. In between all of that there was a bunch of "we really like you and want you to stay."
  • My boss and the Office Manager have both been out since that day. My boss came down with the newest zombie bird H1N1 swine flu and the Office Manager's son has been really sick. Soooo... as of today, there is still no resolution. I had left the conversation with - "How about instead of giving my two weeks, I will give it two weeks to see if things improve." I guess I have another week to go at this point.
  • Related: Our new attorney started yesterday. It was super awkward sitting in the docket meeting with her and her never being introduced to the support staff.
  • Related: The new attorney wasn't even given a computer, she was told to use the firm laptop while we "shopped for a good deal" on a machine for her. We've known she was going to be starting for over a month. WTF does she still not have a computer???
  • Related: She apparently doesn't have a phone in her office. When trying to transfer to the other assistant's desk we discover there is no longer a phone there. Sooooooo.... are they not replacing her? Why is there no phone? Also, the file clerk's computer broke the other day so she went to use the computer at that desk... and it was gone?
  • Related: I'm still the only assistant - what is this, week 5?
  • Related: Out of all the jobs I've applied for, I've had 2 "no thank you's" and zero interviews.
  • NOTHING ELSE.

Week in Review (Jan 21 - Jan 27)

Tuesday - So the most exciting part of my day happened while I was having lunch at work. I cleaned my glasses and this happened:

That meant I "had to" (who am I kidding, I was FINE with it) leave work early so that I could go to the eye doctor. I had plans of going in the near future anyway, since I'm on my last box of contacts. However, I was not expecting to need new glasses as my prescription has actually not changed in the last 2 years. But, my Flex card was loaded at the beginning of the year, so I had the money in my HSA to get new frames (didn't need new lenses!), my contact lens fitting and 4 boxes of contacts. Hurray.

1.5 miles in the basement inferno, and then I actually did some videos!! I did the arms video and tried two new ones - 8 minute abs (Fitness Blender) and something called yoga for runners (not Fitness Blender). Wow, so motivated today.
Wednesday - 1 mile on the treadmill, BodyPump. The triceps track on this release is NUTS. But, it felt maybe a teeny tiny better than last week? Maybe there is hope for me yet!!
Thursday - 4.1 not-so-great miles at the gym. The highlight of my night was when I went into the sauna after my run and the guy I have a crush on was in there with no shirt. I know, I'm totally inappropriate. AT LEAST I DIDN'T TRY TO TAKE A PICTURE. I do have some morals, guys.
Friday - A had a Girl Scout thing that was going to last until 8:30. Sadly, no one was available to go out with me for a beer. So sad! Instead, I went grocery shopping... ALONE. Then, 1.25 miles in the basement inferno, and more videos. (Arms, 8 min abs and quick yoga/stretching video from Fitness Blender).
Saturday - We have been having some unseasonably LOVELY weather for January. L convinced my dad to watch the kids so we could go for a run.... OUTSIDE!! We had to stop and use the bathroom at the rec center on the way out, and L wasn't feel well on the way back, but the last time we ran this section of Ralston Creek we were about a minute slower, for the same number of miles. So, yay us!

I finally wore the INKnBURN pullovers for an outdoor training run. I have used them before as base layers at the end of distance races (after mile 50 of my 100), and I wore one during the FREEZING Route 66, but in general, I haven't used just for a "run of the mill" run. I gotta say, it was GREAT. Also, thumb holes are the best invention ever ever ever ever. I would have one of these for every day of the week if I could afford it!
Sunday - A got an EZ Bake Oven from my mom. She has been asking to make cake pops for WEEKS. I finally agreed, and we set out to make them. The first part, making the doughy brownie part (the bulk of the cake pop) was EASY. The melted chocolate was the hardest thing, EVER, and they didn't really provide the proper equipment in the kit. I think, if A ever convinces me to "bake" ever again, I will stick to brownies or something. This was insanely complicated and time-consuming, but A was pleased with the final product.

Later, 1 mile in the basement inferno, and more videos. (Arms, a new "inner thigh" Fitness Blender video, 8 minute abs, and the Fitness Blender yoga/stretching).
Monday - 4.3 miles at the gym. I tried slowish/easy for the first 2 miles but my legs never seemed to loosen up. I threw in some .10 strides which helped a bit. Overall, not a great run.

Also, it's probably obvious, but I haven't really said anything about it. I started a "run streak" back in November. I wasn't sure how long I was going to let it go, but I think I'll stop on day 100. Monday's run was day 80... I still have a while to go.

Weekly Miles Run - 20.15 miles (7 outside, 13.15 treadmill)
Weekly Cross Training - ZERO
Minutes of Strength Training - 137!!

Weekly Loss - 3.0 pounds
  • Clearly, it must be the vegan, lactose/gluten/sugar/fat free paleo cleanse Magic Diet I have been on.
  •  Juuuuuuuuust kidding. I paid a bit more attention this week to what I was eating.
  •  Related: I didn't go out to eat at ALL last week. Not one time. That has to be a record.
  •  I did, however, go to Sprouts for the first time. I got a ton of spinach, onion, red/green peppers, cucumbers, and a weeks worth of apples for like $6??! WHO KNEW. It's literally BLOCKS from my parents house, so I will be going back for sure.
  • I of course still had the Yogurtland this week, but only 1.5 donuts. The German chocolate danish was TOTALLY worth it.
 Everything Else
  • Sigh. So, Jessa was in my the Office Manager's office last week and noticed that she was posting a new ad on Craigslist for the secretarial position that IS STILL EMPTY. She told me the pay range, and I was PISSED to discover that they are offering a new hire more money than I currently make. SO, after discussing with a multitude of people, I decided to do what any normal person would do. In the midst of applying for a decent amount of jobs, I purposely applied for the job at my own firm. So... this happened:
  • Luckily, I knew exactly what she wanted to see me about, and I told (mostly) the truth. I CANNOT AFFORD TO WORK HERE. Parking expenses eat away at my cash flow, and the new health care laws mean I can no longer pay for A's insurance pre-tax. I have less money NOW than I did when I started, and that's AFTER my negligible raise last summer. So, she said she would talk to my boss and see about getting me a raise, but she did NOT want to tell him about me applying for "her" job. So, I ask, what on earth would the incentive be for my boss to give me an "out of cycle" raise? I'm not optimistic, but at least they know I'm looking. (TO CLARIFY - I had ZERO intentions of actually wanting the other position - this was more of a "I know what you are doing and that you don't value your current employees" type thing. They would never transfer me to that position as I currently have very specific duties for other attorneys and chances are slim to none they will offer me a raise to compete with what they are offering a new person. I want them to know I am a flight risk!!)
  • Related: That job I interviewed for back in December? I got the rejection email yesterday. Le sigh.
  • And, after this week, I am going to re-close the online dating window. For real, I must either have the worst profile on earth or the skeeviest and creepiest people in the universe seem to be attracted to me. My favorite message this week:

Week in Review (Jan. 14 - Jan. 20)

Tuesday - 2 miles in the basement inferno, 17 minutes of strength (arms, 8:00 of planks - 1:00, 1:00, 3:00, 1:00, 2:00).
Wednesday - Still spirit week at the gym, and today was superhero day! A wanted to join in the fun, so I let her borrow the Incredibles tank I wore for Tink 2012. 2 miles on the treadmill and then BodyPump with L. Holy crap, I'm still soooo weak.

Thursday - Got up early and ran a mile in the basement inferno before work. Because AFTER work, I was on my way to the airport for Tink!! My flight actually landed early and Heather picked me up around 10. In bed shortly after.
Friday - Heather's kids had school, so to get my run out of the way before we melted, we ran a mile after walking the youngest to school. You can't tell, but it's pretty much a million degrees already. 1.25 easy-ish miles.

Next stop was heading over to INKnBURN. I have only been there for the warehouse sale that I went to last September, but it was insanely busy and crowded. I wanted to stop by and see the operations and meet Nicole, who now heads up the ambassador program. They have some REALLY awesome products in the works that I can't wait to share with all of you!! I picked up a few of the new pullovers (pretty much a staple for me in winter here).

I believe we spent the remainder of the day watching "educational" tv, which included the "World's Fattest Man" and a few episodes of Hoarders. I think I ate all the things, but I cannot remember. Again, in bed fairly early.
Saturday - Up early again. Heather and I headed to Disneyland to volunteer for the kids races. We were lucky enough to be in charge of handing out medals, which was the funnest EVER. Other people's kids that I only have to see for a few seconds are the most adorable. Also volunteering with us was Sheila, and she is hilarious. Glad I got to do this!

Since we were already at Disney, we walked over to the expo to pick up our packets. It was still PACKED. We were in and out in just a few minutes as neither of us saw anything we wanted to buy.

I believe the afternoon was again spent watching tv. I had to get my mile in, but waited until dusk for it to cool down a bit. Pretty nice sunset!

Delicious enchiladas for dinner. The early part of the evening was spent getting Heather's oldest ready for her formal dance. I hope Heather posts a picture or two, she looked so pretty!! We were in bed early-ish.
Sunday - TINK HALF!!
We finished much earlier than expected, so we sat at Starbucks for about 40 minutes before heading to Souplantation where we met up with Julie and her new (well, 8 month old) baby for brunch!! So great to see her and catch up. Before I knew it, it was time to head back to the airport. Womp. Where did the weekend go???
Monday - I probably could have done more, but this was easy-ish, so I stopped after 3.25 miles. Somewhat of a progressive run (1 @ 5.5, 1 @ 5.6, .25 @ 5.7, .25 @ 5.8, .25 @ 5.9, .25 @ 6.0, .25 @ 6.1). I finally finished "Orange is the New Black" so now I'll need to find a new show to watch at the gym. I had fleeting aspirations of doing some strength training when I got home, but yeah, that didn't happen.

Weekly Miles Run - 24.23 (13.68 racing, 2.3 outside, 6 treadmill)
Weekly Cross Training - ZERO
Minutes of Strength Training - 77 (only thanks to going to BodyPump)

Weekly Gain - 1.4 pounds
  • Let's be real. I didn't try this week. At all. And that's fine. I was on vacation for 3 days in SoCal, and I ate pretty much everything. It's not my fault that Heather is the best cook ever, that there were donuts and cinnamon rolls and Halloween candy. Personally, I think I did her a FAVOR by eating it all. (No really, thanks Heather, you're the best hostess EVER!)

  • Beer was completely in check this week. I had only ONE beer all week, and that was Saturday night.
Everything Else
  • So, we are in week three of me being the only secretary. The really great news is that we have ANOTHER attorney joining our firm, so really, this is MORE WORK FOR ME. Hip hip hooray!!!
  • Related: I did finally hear back from the place I interviewed in December, they were still finishing up interviews and thought they would be contacting people to return for additional interviews in the next week. MAAAAYBE.
  • OK, so I'm in week 2 (?) of being back on the online "dating" thing. I say "dating" because for REAL, I seem to attract the weirdest and creepiest people ever. I have gone on zero dates. I am likely giving this up soon (again), as I'm not really into it and I appear to be the only normal person online.
  • For example (there are messages before AND after this, including asking if I want to go hiking). I have never, not even one time, responded to this guy. But, it's a good example of who I'm attracting:
