Week in Review (March 21 - March 27)

Tuesday (10,824 steps) - Work in the office. Did my cross training at lunch, including walking on the treadmill. With the weather being so crappy, I actually have to work to hit my 10,000 steps on non-running days. Did some deliveries. Maybe met Ben for a beer?
Wednesday (15,354 steps) - Work in the office. Somehow I missed the memo that it was supposed to be freakishly cold (again) and possibly snowing later. Ugh. I had only packed a skirt for my run, thinking it would be warm. Spoiler, it was not warm. I headed to Louisville to run Davidson Mesa, and even though it was grappling most of the run (and COLD), it was a good run.

Did some deliveries on my way home.
Thursday (12,976 steps) - Up early, even though I didn't need to be. Planned on doing some deliveries before going to the airport while A was at practice. I got a notification that my flight was delayed by an hour, so I was actually able to get a good amount of driving in before we had to go. Everything was a breeze at the airport, like time from car, checking bag, through security, to the gate at the last terminal was like 15 minutes. Wooo. Plane was uneventful. I had a drink coupon, so I had a beer and watched "The Break-Up." Once I landed, it was the waiting game for everyone else to arrive. Steph and Rich were the next people in, but they were in a different terminal, so I met them and then we decided to head to the car rental place to meet up with Megan, who was graciously renting a vehicle. We were all hungry, and Steph picked a restaurant nearby that was delicious. I actually wasn't able to finish all this, I blame all the chips and salsa while we were waiting for our entrees.
We stopped at Trader Joe's before getting to the bnb. I picked up some breakfast foods and a 6 pack of beer. I was skeptical about how good it was for the $4.99 price tag. Spoiler: not good. I was really pleased with my room at the bnb! The property was HUGE.
We were all pretty tired from traveling and were in bed relatively early. I slept AMAZING.
Friday (10,570 steps) - I had expected to wake up with the sun, but I actually slept past 7 and it was lovely. We had coffee and breakfast and decided we should go for our shakeout run early. There was a nice "trail" that was about a block from the house. With all the rain they've had, the trail was submerged by the end, so we had to scramble up the hill to pavement.

Megan, me, Steph, Rich

We ended up going to Mad Greens for lunch, and I had a delicious bowl of mac & cheese (which I don't think I even knew they made that). Somehow the day got away from us, and by the time we picked up Jenny and Megan, it was time to go to packet pick up. Although it was supposed to be drive-thru pickup, they let us go inside the headquarters. We got to look at (and I think everyone but me actually bought other stuff) other swag.
Jenny pulled out her good camera and got some great pre-race pictures with our bibs. Isn't this a great mural?

When we left there, we had to go to a running store since Rich hadn't brought any nutrition. Imagine my surprise when we picked the ONE store in all of Phoenix where Holly works! It's so fun to run into people I know :)
Even though I didn't have any plans to buy anything, I got suckered into buying a cool Boco hat. I will also probably wear for Coco.

Already almost time to eat, Steph once again picked a winner. Bobby-Q was AMAZING. The food was soooo good! Even more mac & cheese, a burger and beer. Delicious.

We headed back to the house to get everything ready for an early race day. I also realized I hadn't hit my step count for the day, so I went across the street to the park and walked for about 10 minutes to get them in.
Saturday (73,655 steps) - Crown King Scramble! Recap to follow.

I ended up doing the driving back towards the bnb, to give Megan a break. We stopped at Dairy Queen (YUM!) and had plans on ordering pizza. Unfortunately, most places don't deliver to the address, so we had to go through Door Dash and it was like a billion dollars (nearly $80) for two pizzas. Oh well, we were all happy with the food choice.
We were all in bed pretty early.
Sunday (11,361 steps) - Didn't set an alarm, but was still up pretty early. I had to finish packing, but knew I also needed to get my steps in, so we did a repeat of our shake out run, but instead of running, we all walked. It was quite nice - AND, the water had receded a TON in just a few days. Megan had the earliest flight, so we headed out around 10:30 to return the van and go to the airport. We all got some food and spent some time socializing until we had to catch our respective flights. My flight was on time and I watched Pitch Perfect. We landed early - but didn't have a gate. Sadly, we ended up having to wait about 40 minutes for one. Ben actually met me inside and we didn't have to wait too long to get my bag. We went to Malone's for dinner and I got a grilled cheese - AND YES, MORE MAC & CHEESE. Long long long day.
Monday (20,023 steps) - Awoke to MORE SNOW. This is ridiculous. I was up well before I had to start work, so I thought I would do a few deliveries. I managed to get a few in, and thankfully, I didn't wreck my car and they all tipped well. The roads were complete garbage. I still had a run on schedule. I was dreading it, but it actually wasn't too bad. Is winter ever going to end? Ever?

I thought maybe I was overdressed, but I was not. It was windy and chilly. I hate winter I hate it. Took Olive for a walk. Did some deliveries after work and met Ben for a beer.

Stats:
  • 154,763 steps
  • 41.93 miles run
  • 0 minutes of cardio
  • 30 minutes of strength training

Week in Review (March 14 - March 20)

Tuesday (14,034 steps) - Special at home day! My main attorney is out of town, so my boss said I could work at home. Yay for not having to pay for a dog walker. Got my cross training done, took Olive for a walk at lunch. So nice to finally be a bit warmer outside. REALLY sick of the cold weather.
Did a lot of deliveries.
Wednesday (19,083 steps) - Work in the office. It was actually really nice out and I had a run planned for after work. It was a bit breezy, but not too bad. Could definitely see the weather coming in.

Thursday (26,809 steps) - Work from home. Run at lunch, which was REALLY cold (stupid stupid never ending winter), but "fast" for me.
Took Olive for  a walk.
Belmar run club!
Ran with Mo and Colfax. It was "easy-ish." Fun trying to dress up the dogs in Colfax's St. Patty's hat. Olive was not amused.

Friday (15,447 steps) - Wash Park and coffee. It was just me and Pete today. Walk on the treadmill while reading my book at lunch.
After work, I met Ben at 4 Noses for a few beers. Fun night!
Saturday (25,870 steps) - Had to get up early to do my run. 90ish minutes, then had to head down to PARKER for A's track meet. PARKER. That's the other side of the universe, about 45 minutes away. And did I mention it was FREAKING COLD?
A ran a new personal best in the 1600 - and looked so relaxed doing it!
You can't tell in the picture because of the blue skies and bare arms/legs, but it's in the 30's and REALLY windy. Even spectating was pretty miserable. After the meet was over, drove back home and took Olive for a walk.
Ben and I had plans for dinner. First place we went to was unexpectedly closed. Second place had a 45ish  minute wait. Then they forgot our appetizer and the food was pretty gross and overcooked. Third place, 3 Margaritas, was finally the success. Fun for a three hour dinner and lots of driving around.
Sunday (30,928 steps) - Did a few deliveries while waiting for it to warm up. Decided I would go to Rocky Flats for my 2 hour run rather than run to the dog park. It was "warm" but holy wind. This was (as I named my run on Strava) quite unpleasant. "Spring" in Colorado is so fickle. Want warm temps? Here are some 40 mph winds as a trade off. Ugh.
Also - I had NO idea that there were sections in here that were so hilly. I encountered a few rollers here that were pretty unexpectedly steep. Zero walking still, so that was good I guess.

Shortly after taking the above picture I finally figured out how to cinch the hood down. It was so windy my hat kept threatening to blow off. Relieved to have this one over with. Took Olive for a walk. Did some deliveries. Met Ben at BJ's for a late lunch/early dinner. A and I finally finished the last installment of "You." Oy.
Monday (18,331 steps) - Work from home! A is on spring break, so we got coffee and made cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I only had a 30 minute run on schedule (wooo taper) and then walked Olive. Sunny and relatively warm, and wind wasn't too bad. After work did some deliveries. A was having dinner with a friend, so I picked up some sushi.
Olive, looking a bit crazy. She had just finished trying to eat a box of uncooked macaroni and was eyeballing Robin. Robin does not like to play. :(

Stats:
  • 150,502 steps
  • 34.56 miles run
  • 0 minutes of cardio
  • 50 minutes of strength

Week in Review (March 7 - March 13)

Tuesday (10,472 steps) - Work in the office. I did my cross training at lunch. Rushed home to take Olive for a quick walk before heading over to the school for A's orchestra concert. I *think* her last concert ever, since they are not offering an advanced class next year, so she isn't taking music :(
Wednesday (19,969 steps) - Work in the office. Walked on the treadmill at lunch while reading. Runners Roost Louisville after work for more hill repeats. And thankfully, Kristin joined me again! It was another gloomy day, but we missed actually being snowed on. (And by missed, we just didn't get snow, we were not sad about it).

The hill repeats actually went REALLY well. 60 seconds does seem a lot longer than 45 though. And the flat 2 minute ones we did were sub 8 pace! Did a couple deliveries on my way home.
Thursday (31,362 steps) - Work from home. Logged in early because I had yet another long run to do at lunch. It was windy, and my heartrate was a bit high, but overall the run was fine. Took Olive for a walk at lunch - and at least it's sunny!
Took Olive to Belmar for run club. There were a LOT of dogs! Olive did puke in the car on the drive home, which was not wonderful. A wasn't home for dinner, so I had a frozen pizza and watched Nip/Tuck.
Friday (14,912 steps) - Wash Park and coffee. Work in the office. Dog walker messaged to let me know that Olive had pooped a few times in her crate - one solid and one diarrhea. She cleaned it up the best she could, but Olive was upset and wouldn't let her take her harness off. By the time I got home she had had diarrhea AGAIN, and this time it went onto the carpet. So that meant carpet cleaning, lots of laundry, etc.  Ugh. I was able to schedule an appointment with the vet, but not until Monday. Between the vomit and diarrhea, figure I need to make sure she is ok.
Saturday (24,146 steps) - I had maybe planned on trying to go to Runners Roost Lakewood's dog run with Ruffwear, but with Olive being sick I decided to skip. And good thing, because Ariel texted that the 3200 was now the first event of the meet, at 8:30 (not 9, like the website said, and not one of the last events like usual). I had to rush out the door to get there, and BARELY made it in time to watch her run. I sat with Gracie's mom and wow, both girls ran soooo strong! New PR (by a LOT) for A, with a 13:48!

She also was running the 4x800, which wasn't even that long after the 3200. She was the anchor and said she didn't run fast, but she looked great and pretty sure she made up time.
I didn't stick around after that because I still had a run to get in, and I knew I needed to get home to Olive. I headed over to Bear Creek and had a REALLY good run! The weather was perfect, even a little warm.

Fake spring
Finished up, did a couple deliveries on my way home, then took Olive for a walk. Did more driving since A was working. Productive night, biggest money-making evening yet!
Sunday (46,199 steps) - Dumb, dumb, dumb daylight savings. Somehow I slept late, and I still had a 4 hour long run to do. I had a quick breakfast and headed up to Dirty Biz for a loop (with the addition of Dowdy Draw). It was cold, windy, cloudy. Even got snowed on a bit about halfway through. And 99% of the trail was in good condition - just a little snow/mud on the Boulder side. The run actually went REALLY well. Like REALLY well.

This is the second time I have seen bald eagles in this area

Less than 3 minutes of walking for an 18 mile trail run?!?! And the idles time was one bathroom stop and one light I had to wait at
Home to take Olive for a walk and shower. Did a few deliveries and then met Ben for a couple beers at Westminster Brewing.
Monday (23,460 steps) - Work from home. Had to take Olive to the vet - but she actually did really well!
I'm glad I talked to my coach about shortening my runs during the week a bit. It's so hard to get in a few hours of running during the day, especially with my day job and the part time job I also have. Anyway, I had a quite lovely run at the lake (first one in a while since it's been muddy). Fake spring is back for a few days!

After work I did a couple deliveries and took Olive for a walk. Then, it was off to Petco for puppy training graduation!

Ariel had dinner plans, so I took Olive home, fed the zoo, and went out for a few deliveries. I missed my window to get pizza at Costco because I didn't realize they close at 8:30, so I had to pick up a Little Caesars. And all they had was cheese. That'll teach me. Long day.

Stats:
  • 170,520 steps
  • 46.72 miles run
  • 0 minutes of cardio
  • 50 minutes of strength training

Week in Review (April 9 - April 15)

Tuesday  (17,572 steps) - Work in the office. Ariel had a soccer game - and got to play a lot!  Took Olive for a walk when I got home, then ...
