Week in Review (May 3 - May 9)

Tuesday (17,646 steps) - A had student council early in the morning, so I did a quick run by the lake after dinner. Tuesdays are clearly the most boring day of the week, which is totally fine. I was still exhausted after the Avenue of the Giants weekend, so we went to bed really early.
Wednesday (18,529 steps) - Slept in because we went to run club after work/school. Maureen ended up coming, so we ran about 3 miles with her. They ordered in pizza for Heather's birthday, so we decided not to go and get dinner. Because, free pizza.

When we got home we had Batman Sour's birthday paw-ty. Two years old!

Thursday (21,108 steps) - Finally managed to drag myself out of bed. Did 4ish miles near the lake. Temps were good, and I'm loving the sunshine!
Friday (14,343 steps) - Rest day!! Was hoping to get out of work early. Never quite works out that way and it was pure chaos and stress going to pick up A at school and then driving back down to Denver to drop her off at Heather's for a sleepover before driving out to Grand Junction. My friend and teammate, Kate, had graciously offered to let me stay at her house (since I had forgotten to book a hotel), and I was super stressed about my impending late arrival. Quick stop at Garbanzo's on the way out, and didn't get to Kate's until 10:45!! Thank you, Kate, and sorry for the late arrival. You're awesome!! Was woken up a few times in the night due to crazy thunderstorms.
Saturday (28,635 steps) - Rabbit Valley half marathon. The drive back to Denver was fairly uneventful, with the exception of on and off rain. Bee Rad got a PR with number of miles on a tank (566.7!) of gas.
Stopped in Silverthorne hoping to get food, but there was only fast food. I did, however, stop at the Banana Republic outlet store and got a super cute dress and sweater for $26!! I finally had to stop in Idaho Springs to gas up, and made a quick stop at Tommyknocker's for a beer and a bowl of chili to tide me over until dinner. While I was running Rabbit Valley and driving back to Denver, A was running Girls on the Run with Heather.
Arrived at Heather's around 3:30, giving me plenty of time to shower and get pretty for our dinner at The Palm, celebrating Heather's birthday with her family and other friends. Had an amazing time! Tons and tons of food, and always fun to get dressed up.
Sunday (10,067 steps) - I was DETERMINED to sleep in. I have so few opportunities for it! I kept waking up, but I managed to stay in bed until 9 am. 9!!! Batman Sour assisted in waking me up by sitting by my head and purring. A sneaked downstairs, making me coffee, eggs and pancakes! She also did all the dishes, making this the perfect Mother's Day breakfast. We sat on the couch and watched HOURS of TV. Around 1 we went over to the library to renew A's library books. We went for a 2 mile run along Little Dry Creek - love our runs together!
More TV. We went to lunch/dinner (not sure what meal you eat at 4 pm) at Old Chicago's. We ordered #allthefood - an appetizer sampler of pizza rolls, Italian nachos and cheesy garlic bread, A got a turkey/bacon sandwich, and I got the fancy mac & cheese.

Spent the remainder of the day on the couch in a food coma. BEST MOTHER'S DAY EVER!
Monday (15,848 steps) - I had my alarm set early with plans of running the big loop around my neighborhood. Turns out, I'm still recovering from my awesome Mother's Day of doing nothing. I barely had time to get 1.5 miles in. But the weather was perfect and the sun was shining. Yay spring!
We left the house a few minutes early so I could stop and get my depo shot. Wasn't as quick as usual, so A was a few minutes late to school. After work I did a video(!!!) while making dinner. Time to get back on track with building up my puny strength!

Stats:
  • 126,176 steps
  • 23 miles run (taking a few low mileage weeks before building back up)
  • 32 minutes of cross training
  • No strength/stretching
Everything Else:
  • Blah. So I haven't been paying much attention to what I've been eating (obviously) and slowly but surely, the weight has crept back on. It's easy to pretend that running 40-60 miles a week means you can eat whatever you want, but that is obviously not true. Not planning on tracking calories or anything, but cutting back on all those things I can't seem to stop eating. Womp. I'm pretty much back to the weight I was on three years ago when I did the #noteatingallthethings - apparently maintaining hasn't gone that well.
  • Nothing much else going on, just planning an out of town Memorial Day weekend with A and locking in the remainder of plans for the summer. HOW ARE THERE ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT OF SCHOOL?

Week in Review (May 5 - May 11)

Tuesday (18,077 steps) - Went to the gym with plans to do a hill program of some type. After I had been screwing around and had only gotten maybe a half mile into my run, one of the teachers from the Kid's Club came over to tell me that A had hurt herself and was pretty upset. I grabbed my stuff and headed in to see her shaking, crying and freaking out. She had been trying to show her friend how to do a back bend and for some reason the two were holding hands. Not sure of who let go or what happened, but A fell back "wrong" on her wrist. I opted to take her to urgent care - where it was confirmed... fracture.

Wednesday (22,108 steps) - A still wanted to go to the gym. I tried to run on the treadmill, got a little over three miserable, chafing miles in. Blah.
Thursday (25,399 steps) - An hour on the elliptical.
Friday (17,155 steps) - A had an appointment to get the "real" cast on at a super inconvenient time. I skipped going to work in the morning and watched some tv while she was in school until it was time for her appointment. She opted for green and purple.

Saturday (18,193 steps) - L and I were supposed to be running the Arvada Park to Park inaugural half marathon. Due to a week of non-stop rain a lot of the half marathon course was flooded so it was canceled at the last minute (like 2 in the morning). We opted to run the 10k instead, and A ran the 5k. (Recap to follow).

I had plans to meet up with Jessa, Jackson and Lisa at 3. We hadn't hung out in a LONG time. Imagine my surprise when we walked in and they had thrown me a mini surprise party! (My birthday isn't until the 18th, but this weekend worked better for us all). They got me Voodoo Doughnuts, a cheese plate, vegetable and fruit trays, stout beers I hadn't tried and we ordered pizza for dinner. THE BEST NIGHT EVER. These gals are the best!!

Sunday (22,247 steps) - L had opted to run another 10 in the morning. It snowed (A LOT, like 5 inches) overnight and I wasn't feeling up to it - especially after all the fun food from the night before. Since it was Mother's Day, A woke me up with coffee and breakfast. We had NO plans with such a blah day, so we watched movies. I walked (yes, walked) - 8.5 miles on the treadmill. Yikes.

We had dinner at my parent's house with all the family - it was pretty nice.
Monday (29,254 steps) - I did a "virtual run" with some of the INKnBURN fan club ladies. I actually got up early and ran 6 (very very very slow) miles on the treadmill. I honestly can't remember the last time I did that many miles during the week OR the last time I got up early during the week to exercise. A still wanted to go to the gym so we went for a bit - 40 minutes on the elliptical.

Stats
  • 152,433 steps
  • 15.5 miles run
  • 100 minutes of cross training (plus 8.5 miles of walking)
  • No strength this week... (oops)
Everything Else
  • Gah. So, yeah, A's fractured wrist was the "excitement" of the week. Not that there is ever a good time for medical bills, but I have just spent all that money with the dentist (root canal & tooth bleaching is coming up on the 26th) and I'm not looking forward to getting the bills from the Urgent Care and Orthopedic. Yikes.
  • The weather has been AWFUL for the last few weeks. Maybe we were spoiled with such a mild winter, but man. It's been cold, windy, rainy and GLOOMY. Not to mention the half a foot of SNOW we just got. Enough!!! I want some sun and warm weather!
  • Still haven't had my review at work. It was canceled due to the HR lady being out on a family emergency. It never got rescheduled... Do I harass and keep asking if it is happening? It was supposed to be almost three weeks ago.
  • Nothing else.

Week in Review (January 20 - January 26)

Tuesday - Speed work! warm up, 6 x 400 and cool down. Yes, the picture below was my best effort. HAHAHAHA.

Was feeling pretty sore when I got home, so I did a "new to me" yoga/pilates Fitness Blender video. It was different, and I felt better after doing it.
Wednesday - An hour of hills... max incline 7.5%. Which, let me tell you, IS HARD. This was HARD. But I'm trying to get stronger this year, and I would like running to not feel as...well, hard. HA.

I'm also trying to get back into doing some cross training. I've been slacking over the last year or so and I can tell that it has affected my running. I did another "new to me" video - this one was a chest and shoulders video, which I also liked.
Thursday - 3.3 miles on the treadmill, which were pretty nice.
Friday - So my extended family was in town for my nephew's Bar Mitzvah. I left work early so that I could make it to the service and dinner. It was nice to catch up with everyone, but I ate too much. Again.
Saturday - The goal was to get a decent mid length (I was aiming for about 6 miles) run in before heading back up to Boulder for the Bar Mitzvah. I got up before dawn and headed to Sloans Lake, where I hoped to run two loops around the lake. Right from the beginning I felt "off" - and it didn't get better from there. It was SUPER cold, but there were actually a few people out on the two lane "trail" around the lake. I needed to use the bathroom, but it was so dark I couldn't see where any were. Lets just say that I should have stopped after one loop. Instead, there was an incident. :*(  Sometimes I really hate running.

The after party was at the bowling alley - with an open bar. Another full day of family fun and eating too much. Since it was also my nephew's birthday, we had a huge chocolate cake. Then, we had pizza Saturday. I was awoken about 2 hours after I went to bed because A was puking. So that was fun.
Sunday - A claimed to be recovered from her food poisoning (or whatever had happened), and still wanted to go on our weekly run. I had been hoping to go run on a trail, but with the moisture we have had, many were too muddy and I didn't think she would like that. I was a bit hungover, so we didn't head out onto Big Dry Creek until after the sun was up. It was a bit windy at the start, but then it really warmed up. We did three miles! A is really building up a pretty good base.

Can you believe this is Colorado in January??
We then met up with my cousins and their kids before they had to the airport. We went to Boondocks where the kids were able to play laser tag, go bowling, miniature golfing, go carting and playing arcade games.

The cousins had to head to the airport, and we went to the Southern Sun for beers and dinner.

We clearly hadn't eaten ENOUGH, and had some dessert bread (and I had more beer). And then the newest challenge was born. More details below.
Monday - 4 mostly ok miles on the treadmill and a video - 100 Rep Squat Challenge #2.

Miles Run - 23.6 miles
Minutes of Cross Training - 0
Minutes of Strength Training/Stretching - 73! (Way up from the 0 of weeks past)

Weekly Gain - 3.2 pounds

  • Well, the weigh in was a day earlier, and a direct result of the "NEW CHALLENGE"
  • So L and I have a fascination with shows like "My 600 Pound Life" and "The Biggest Loser." I like watching shows like this. We watched a show on Sunday night about a woman in the United Kingdom that purposely gained 42 pounds (in three months), just to prove that it can be lost in the same amount of time, just by eating everything in moderation and very "moderate" exercise.
  • I have been out of control AGAIN with the food/eating. I know I have food issues, mainly that if I am around different/good things I become unable to STOP. Every meal is like "the last supper." Stupid.
  • So. I am not trying to gain or lose anything in an irrational amount of time, but there were a few things I "liked" about the show. The idea (and TRUTH), that if you don't go overboard, you CAN enjoy all the things you like. Again, my problem is STOPPING.
  • I've also been out of control with the weekly weigh in and the calorie log in. So another part of the "challenge" is that there is NO weigh in until the end day, and there is NO calorie logging.
  • So what makes this "fun"??? - WELL, L and I roped Heather into joining us. We are still sending each other pictures of our food, and on March 1, we are doing a weigh in and whoever loses the largest percentage wins a $50 gift card, paid for by the two "losers" - we did a picture virtual weigh in Monday morning.
  • Just for the fun of the BLOG, I will do a daily collage of what I ate that day. I KNOW, COULD MY BLOG GET ANY BETTER?
  • So... day 1 of the challenge - this is what I ate:

  • I actually COOKED again this week. A picked an enchilada recipe. It was pretty delicious, although probably not super nutritious.
Everything Else

Still loving the job. I have to share this picture of our fabulous break room!

Week in Review (January 13 - January 19)

Tuesday - HILLS. I think I was a stronger runner when I ran the hill programs on the treadmill. I wasn't very fast, but I knocked out a 5K on a program that maxed out at something ridiculous like 7.5%.

Wednesday - I go to 24 Hour Fitness. They recently absorbed the Bally's Fitness Centers in my area. I decided to check out the one sort of near me that has an indoor track. Apparently, our current membership will not allow us to use that location without paying substantially more a month. However, I know the manager there and he let me try it out for the night. Did you know that you have to do 13 LAPS FOR A MILE?

Thursday - Just about an hour on the treadmill. I don't remember much about it so it must have been fine. Me and A are back to "cooking" and finding new recipes. We found a super simple recipe for mini meatloaves. Unfortunately, by the time we got everything made we ended up not eating dinner until almost 9:00. They were DELICIOUS (and we had leftovers for two more meals).

Friday - SUPER busy day at work. Finished packing for the big office move. I spent a bulk of the afternoon helping to pack up the supply/copy room. #pizzafriday and a quick run around the neighborhood. It was WARM out.
Saturday - Frosty's Frozen Five mile race with A! Afternoon was spent watching TV.
Sunday - In the morning, L and I ran the "Arctic" Prairie Dog Half Marathon.

In the afternoon, I made more bark. (Photo in the food montage). This time, it was milk and white chocolate swirled with Heath toffee bits and topped with caramel filled morsels. And surprise - #pizzasaturday !!!
Monday - I was supposed to have the day off for "Civil Rights Day" (did you know this is what MLK day is called now?) Unfortunately, because of the office move, I had to work and unpack. Good news is that since it was a holiday for everyone else, I got a lot done. 5K on the treadmill after work.

Miles Run - 34.6
Minutes of Cross Training - ZERO
Minutes of Strength/Stretching - ZILCH

Weekly Gain/Loss - 0 pounds (121.8)

  • So not having a gain was a big surprise. I really didn't eat that great this week. As you can see in the above picture... there was carrot cake, Yogurtland, bark, German chocolate cake. Plus, the new job has snacks - hence the chips...
  • I do, however, think the lack of stress has contributed to less stress gain (and less drinking, so...)
Everything Else
  • What else is there to say about the new job? It is a substantially busier (in a good way) desk than my last job - with a TON more variety. We moved this week and I'm pretty happy to be located right near the break room. Maybe people won't notice how many times I get up for water and snacks.
  • Um.

Week in Review (November 4 - November 10)

Tuesday - Did this day even happen? Dailymile says I didn't do anything. It was the first day back from New York, so I'm guessing I went to bed early. (Well, earlier, since I'm almost always in bed by 9:30).
Wednesday - Tried to run during lunch - first run since NYC. It was horrible and stopped after a mile. Went to BodyPump at night.
Thursday - Again, tried to run during lunch. Again, barely made it a mile before I stopped. So... there's that. Tried another run at night, didn't even make it three miles.
Friday - Got up early and did an upper body video. PIZZA!!
Saturday - L and I ran the Highlands Ranch Backcountry Trail half marathon. Weather was awesome, maybe even a little warm.

I feel like something else must have happened that day. But what...
Sunday - I whipped out the crock pot for the first time since the spring. Nothing super exciting, just chicken, hatch green chili salsa and onion. It was tasty. We took to the kids swimming at the rec center. I enjoyed sitting outside in a lawn chair for probably the last time of the season - polar vortex headed our way!

Butt/Thigh video after dinner. I had forgotten how much I like this one!
Monday - Tried to run at lunch. Horrid. Awful. Not good. Stopped at a mile. Again. After work I went to a meet and greet with Lisa. Beer and dessert.

Weekly Miles Run - 19.17
Minutes of Cross Training - None
Minutes of Strength/Stretching - 113 (way up from previous weeks)

Loss since last weigh in - 2.2 pounds (118.6)

  • Well, after not logging for a few weeks I started doing it again. Not really to "limit" - but just as a reminder that I cannot, in fact, eat all the things and not gain weight. I kinda hate tracking.
  • Some indulgences this week, donuts and pizza, but nothing super out of control. Unsure how much gain I had after NY as I skipped the weekly weigh in for my sanity.
Everything Else

So really, the only run that wasn't the Worst Ever was the trail race. Every other run since New York has felt hard. I've felt sore. I didn't run much the week leading up to NYC and I feel like that race was a catastrophy. My next 100 (attempt) is next weekend and I am NOT going into it with any confidence. I finally have a forecast to look at (60% chance of rain). The trail is substantially more technical than I thought. My pacer had to back out. I have ZERO confidence with how tired, achy and overall Blah/Sore I have been feeling.

So. There's that.

Nothing else.

Week in Review (October 28 - November 3)

This will be incredibly long because most of this time was spent in NYC on vacation. Too lazy to do separate blog posts. Sorry!

Tuesday - 4.5 miles during lunch, and 2.5 speedy miles after work. Then, I really had to get serious about the packing, which was STILL not done. Man. Packing is really Terrible.

Wednesday - NEW YORK!!!

We were up about the time I normally would be to go to work. We drove to Jessa's house, where I would be parking my car. We drove to the airport in her ginormous SUV that could hold the four of us and all of our stuff. Parking was a bit of a hassle as the airport seemed way more crowded than it should be for the middle of the week. We got to the airport in plenty of time to check our bags and get on the plane. The flight was shorter than we expected (just over 3 hours) to La Guardia.

We landed a bit early, collected our bags and had to figure out how to get to our hotel, which was only about a mile from the airport. We took the free airport shuttle and checked in to the La Guardia Plaza Hotel. Pretty swanky! First order of business was dinner and beer. Both were delicious.

I vaguely remember watching TV when we got back to the room and heading to bed at a semi-reasonable hour.

Thursday - We planned to get up semi-early so that we could have breakfast at the hotel and then take a taxi into the city. We had briefly considered the subway, but figured we had 2 kids and too much luggage to bother with. The hotel had a very nice buffet, but for some reason it was only free for two of us to eat. Either way, I had eggs, bacon, pastries and COFFEE. The hotel hired us a car for the drive in. OH.MY.GOSH.THE.TRAFFIC. I almost had a melt down on the drive in and I wasn't even the one driving. Ugh!!!

We weren't able to check into our hotel because it was too early, but we had a LOT on our agenda for the day so we left our bags with the hotel.

First order of business. EXPO. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to buy anything, but I had heard rumors that the selection dwindled rapidly with each passing hour, so we went only about an hour after it opened (about 15 blocks south of our hotel at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center). It was a ZOO. There were multiple events happening and it was CROWDED. I was the only one excited about being there so the goal was to get in and out quickly.

This is an unbelievably awkward picture
I finally decided to buy a jacket, and "smartly" tried and bought from the Foot Locker right next to the official merchandise station that had a line 200 people deep. It was a bit pricey, but since I'll never run Boston, this will be my "Boston" jacket. Then on the way out I peeked in at Newton and bought some NYC marathon compression socks.

From there, we grabbed sandwiches to go at a shop and then it was time to really try the subway system. We had a bit of a fiasco as we were confused on how to read a map. We got on at a station that only went south when we wanted to go north, then went the wrong way... we finally got to our destination of the American History Museum with about 3.5 hours to get in everything we wanted to see. First up was seeing the Great White Shark show in IMAX 3D. By the time we sat down it was after 2 and we were STARVING. We couldn't eat during the show, so as soon as that was over we inhaled our sandwiches before walking around and looking at the exhibits.

We were done about a half hour before the museum closed and headed back to our hotel so we could change for Wicked and get a quick dinner. We chose Uncle Mario's brick oven pizza and BOY WAS IT TASTY!!!

Wicked was going to be our most expensive entertainment of the trip, and I was a bit concerned about the kids. I had read the book a few years ago and thought that it might be too adult themed, but it was listed as a family friendly show, so we risked it.

If only we had a selfie stick!

Turns out, the show was FANTASTIC. It didn't start until 8, so I was also concerned the kids would be squirrely, tired, bored, but they were great. The signing was phenomenal, the show was witty, funny and entertaining. So glad we went. (Also - fun fact, Justin Guarini of American Idol Season 1 was the male lead, so that was fun). We stopped to pick up dessert and beer on the way back to the hotel - not getting there until after 11 pm. A long, full day.

Friday - Another full day planned, we were up and out the door for our first stop of the day - a 9:30 ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We stopped at 7-11 for coffee before braving the subway, which I will say was not as difficult as the day before. We got to the ferry with what we THOUGHT was plenty of time. Ariel immediately wanted to be put on her Halloween costume, which she planned on wearing ALL DAY. However, you had to walk about a mile from the stop just to get to the entrance of the ferry. Security is high there, you have to pretty much go through airport security (which we didn't know, and which took extra time). By the time we got through we actually missed our ferry time, but turns out they don't really look at the time on your ticket as long as you are there on the right day. It was a bit windy out, but fairly sunny, so it was light jacket weather.

The ferry ride over was uneventful. We arrived at the Statute of Liberty and walked around the base to take pictures before heading up. We were not able to get tickets to the crown (because of height restrictions on the kids and the fact we waited too long to book).

We took the 180ish stairs to the pedestal, stopping at the museum on the way up, which I don't think we would have known existed had we taken the elevator.

From there, we took another ferry to Ellis Island. I hadn't been there before. The outer buildings were gorgeous, but a lot of them were in a run-down state. Not sure if part of that was from Hurricane Sandy. A lot of the artwork has still not been put back on site after they were removed for fear of damage during the storms in 2012.

At the museum, Jackson decided it was also costume time
By this time we were all STARVING. We were on the right side of town for us to jump on the subway and head into Brooklyn for pizza.

A friend recommended that we check out Grimaldi's, a cash only pizza joint that did not disappoint. We suffered through consuming an entire pizza since they don't sell by the slice, then we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge.

It was getting chilly and cold, but we still wanted to head into Little Italy and China Town before heading to the Halloween parade in the Village.

Is this the Courthouse from Law & Order?

The kids were cold and tired so we stopped at Caffe Napoli for dessert and coffee. This place was phenomenal.

Italian Cheesecake
At this point, the kids were "over" going to the Halloween parade and decided it would be fun to just Trick-or-Treat in Chinatown. This neighborhood was a lot of fun!

The kids ALSO decided that it would be fun to try to Trick-or-Treat in Times Square, we hopped on the subway (seeing a lot of people heading to the Halloween parade in the Village) and headed up to 42nd Street and Time Square. It was hustling and bustling at 10 pm on Halloween (and on a Friday!) - it's shocking to me that everything is still open and busy at that late hour!

The kids were dying to see M&M World, so we went into the three story monstrosity for more candy and a souvenir. They also got to meet the yellow M. Doesn't he look thrilled?

Full costume without the jacket and hat
Oh, and more beer.

Realizing we had eaten nothing with junk since we had been in the city, we grabbed (delicious) salads from the deli across the street. It was after midnight before I got to bed.

Saturday - The only day where we knew the weather was going to be terrible, so we didn't have much planned. We had also done so much every other day that we knew it was going to be an easy day. It was rainy and windy, and first order of business was getting coffee and another umbrella for Jessa and Jackson, as one of theirs had broken.

We took the kids to Build-A-Bear (mainly so Ariel could get a special NY bear) and then we got lunch at the Playwright Tavern - a delicious Irish Pub.

The kids with their new friends

Shepherd's Pie
We walked over to NBC Studios, thinking we might be able to do a tour, but they have apparently stopped doing those. The kids were already tired of the weather and moving around, but we didn't want to waste the day. We took the subway to the 9/11 Memorial, where I finally saw the North and South pools, new since the last time visited. We opted to skip the museum since the kids were pretty much DONE.

Picked up donuts and coffee and headed back to the hotel in the doom and gloom.

We spent a bit of time in the hotel. The kids were playing, the adults were napping. The last few days had really taken a toll on me. Woke up around dinner time and decided to get a burger. We found decent reviews for the "Shake Shack." It WAS really good although the seating is very limited, so be prepared to stand like an animal and eat.

More beer. And dessert.

Sunday - NYC MARATHON!! This legitimately took THE ENTIRE DAY. I mean, other than getting to the race, running and eating, I did nothing. I think we had more beer, and then we watched The Help. In bed relatively early because I was EXHAUSTED.

Monday - We had a half day in the morning to get done the only thing we missed - riding bikes in Central Park. We got up early, finished packing and dropped our bags off in the lobby. We got coffee and took the subway to Columbus Plaza, where we found a guy on the corner advertising bike rides. Me and A got our own bikes and Jessa and Jackson rented a tandem since he can't ride without trainers yet. Central Park is 7 miles around and we figured two hours would be plenty of time. We were a bit afraid to ride with the kids on the street so we walked the bikes until we got inside the park, where we realized we could only ride on the actual road, not on any of the trails. We stopped quite a bit to take pictures (it IS the most scenic part of NYC), and also had to walk a decent amount of uphills. Which was fine by me because I was STILL SO SORE.

We got back to about the part of the park where the marathon had ended and we were told no bikes were allowed to pass through (because of the Marathon Monday tent sale). We tired to walk our bikes over to Central Park West, but the sidewalk was closed. We ended up having to walk a decent section of the trails because there was no where we were allowed to ride.

We finally got the bikes back, only a few minutes late and picked up a quick lunch at Mickey Spillane's in Hell's Kitchen. Here, I'm having a Buffalo Chicken wrap (and I shared A's meatball sandwich), before walking back to the hotel to get our stuff and go to the airport.

My favorite stick person sign in the city? "Don't tie your shoes by the pigeons."

We arrived at the hotel, got our bags and took a hired car back to La Guardia. The drive took about 45 minutes and we checked our bags curbside - so much easier. La Guardia is a terrible, windowless, foodless airport. I spent an obscene amount of money on a burrito for dinner on the plane. We left on time, but the flight was closer to four hours. Landed early, and got home just after 9 pm. EXHAUSTED.

Weekly Miles Run - 33.52
Minutes of Cross Training - None, except lots of walking and riding bikes in Central Park
Minutes of Strength/Stretching - None

Weekly Weigh In - ????

  • You saw all my food pictures. No good can come of stepping on the scale!

Week in Review (August 25 - August 31)

Tuesday  (13,772 steps) - Peloton and Olive walk before going to work. Gym at lunch for StairMaster, some strength training and a treadmill ...
