Week in Review (March 31 - April 6)

Tuesday (12,866 steps) - Olive walk before work. Went to the gym at lunch for the StairMaster. Only had 25 minutes to do, so it didn't seem quite as bad as the last few weeks. I had a little extra time so I also did a "power walk" treadmill class. We had to do 20 second "all out" pace "sprints" and I cannot believe I was able to get up to 5.1 mph, which is basically my run pace. all this to say that 20 seconds of that was MUCH harder than running for 20 seconds. Work has hellacious again and I got out a little late. Took Olive for a walk and when I got back Ben had already made dinner, yay! Good Wife.
Wednesday (10,295 steps) - Peloton and Olive walk before going to work. Went to the gym at lunch to do strength training and another treadmill hike. Traffic was total garbage, home almost 20 minutes later than usual. Took Olive for a walk. Dinner and Good Wife.
Thursday (19,189 steps) - Yay for work from home! I finally decided to buckle down and get started on my REALLY packing for my upcoming race. The biggest catalyst with this one is that I only get one drop bag and it has a weight limit. Not a HUGE deal, but since I get to have access at every checkpoint, I really want to be smart with what I pack. Missing some nutrition and maybe last-minute gear, but I am at only half the max weight, so I think I'm doing pretty good.
Ariel messaged to ask me if I wanted to join her for a free entree from Qdoba for national burrito day. We came up with an elaborate plan to meet up, but that meant I had to rush out of the house to get my workout done first. Drove over to North Table for some repeats up the Quarry fire road. There was another gal there doing repeats and she was the fastest hiker I have ever seen in real life! I did 3 and a partial repeats in just over an hour and then rushed to meet Ariel.
Timing was perfect and I got my free burrito bowl. Headed home and ate it while it was still warm before taking Olive out for her walk.
Also squeezed in my first sauna session in a while. Really happy that the extra attorney has been transitioned back off my desk, my days are back to normal. Met up with Ben at Torchy's for dinner. We had barely sat down when Ariel messaged that since her car was out of coolant again that she wanted to drop off her car NOW so that the shop could look at it in the morning. We drove down after eating to meet up with Ariel and leave her with my car (yet again). Took Olive for a walk when we got home. Good Wife.
Friday (14,409 steps) - Well, without a car, that meant that Ben needed to take me to work. I took Olive for an early morning walk and then we stopped at Dutch Bros before heading into Denver. We all look thrilled.
Olive even got to visit the other floor of our office for the first time today since we got to work so early.
Took her for a long walk at lunch - sort of forgetting that it was the Rockies home opener. Everything was NUTS.

Ben texted that he was leaving just after 4:30 and the map initially said he would only be about 15 minutes. Spoiler, with traffic and Rockies game chaos it was MUCH longer than that.
We dropped Olive off at home so we could go to happy hour. Busy like usual and since it was really windy no one was sitting outside. Got dinner there, the burgers are really good but I still wish we had more food truck options.
Good Wife.
Saturday (29,074 steps) - Did some cleaning and Ben went to get us Dutch Bros while I took Olive for a walk. We then headed up to Boulder to meet Terri for a run.
Ben had suggested our "normal" nine-mile loop. We didn't do a ton of running, which was fine by me.
We decided to do something different and go to Lulu's BBQ in Louisville after our run. We got a plate to share, and for a fun surprise, we ran into a former bartender from 4 Noses that now works there. When we got home I took Olive for another long walk to the lake before we settled in for the evening.
Sunday (15,298 steps) - Sunday fun day - back up to Boulder. Definitely overdressed for this one!

Rails End after, where there was a new food truck for us to try. Mediterranean and the food was AMAZING, I really hope that we see this one again!
Took Olive for another walk when we got home. No recollection of the rest of the evening.
Monday (15,869 steps) - Work from home! Did laundry and a quick row session. Surprise coffee drop off from Ariel before taking Olive out for her long walk.
I went out for my run. Since I am finally tapering it was shorter and I felt great the whole time. Took Olive for another walk. After work I did some reading waiting for Ben to get home since I still don't have my car back. He stopped at Costco to pick up groceries and pizza for dinner. Good Wife.

Stats:
  • 117,000 steps
  • 20.31 miles run
  • 16.52 miles walked
  • 50 minutes of cardio
  • 45 minutes of strength
  • 25 minutes of sauna

Week in Review (January 14 - January 20)

Tuesday (12,863 steps) - Core class during lunch. I told Ben I would skip going to Milk Market since I wasn't planning on running. We met up at 4 Noses for happy hour before picking up groceries & pizza for dinner. Took Pika for a walk to get our mile in.
Wednesday (12,223 steps) - Upper body class during lunch. Runners Roost Boulder! Ben was still too sore to run, so it was just me and Ariel. We arrived in time for the trail run picture but planned on run/walking the 5k road route. Tyler and Kevin/Koda decided to join us. It wasn't great, but I've certainly had worse runs. Surprise quesadillas and french fries!
Home early so A could get homework done.
Thursday (12,058 steps) - Core class during lunch. A had another track meet. I was hoping that we would get out earlier because she chose a shorter distance, but no such luck. Her pace was significantly faster than when she ran the 800, but man, these kids she races against are SPEEDY.

We were still there after 9:00 and didn't eat dinner until after 10 because we still had to get our mile in. Ugh!
Friday (11,470 steps) - Lower body class during lunch. Met up with Ben, Pika and A at Berkeley Park.
Walked around the lake and then stuck around for a panel/presentation for Tour de Geants. It was pretty interesting, but also really crowded and chaotic.
Saturday (14,566 steps) - Initially I planned on doing the Australia Relief Run from Berkeley Park. But then, when my alarm went off, I decided not to. Stayed in bed fairly late before going out with Ben and Pika for a run. Crazy how "hard" less than 5 miles was. Blech.

A didn't want to do anything, so she stayed home with Pika while Ben and I went to Boulder. I first returned the snow pants I bought, then we hit up a few new breweries. I was extremely disappointed in all of them.

Pizza again (yes, we ate the street tacos for pre-dinner).
Sunday (16,002 steps) - Up early for snowshoeing with Always Choose Adventures! On the drive up I was wondering if there was even going to be enough snow, but once we got to Brainard Lake area it seemed like there would be enough. Ben was able to rent snowshoes (for only $10 from ACA!) and we started a tad after 9:00. The first few miles were good, weather was fine. I did notice my shoulder was a bit angsty (STILL from my Tahoe injury), but overall not bad. As we got closer to the lake the wind picked up and things were pretty miserable.
We huddled under a pavilion area and ate our sandwiches while deciding what to do next. Opted to just get close enough to the lake to get a picture, then headed back down.

Luckily, as we entered the trees the wind died back down.
I just REALLY do not enjoy the wind. At all. We went to Busey Brews (formerly James Peak) in Nederland for food/drinks. THEN, we stopped at Heather's house - she is heading out soon on her yearlong road trip. She made us a delicious pork bbq pizza! We took A and Pika home, and then Ben and I went to 4 Noses. Watched The Day After Tomorrow.
Monday (10,201 steps) - Slept in AGAIN! We had briefly talked about running at some point, but that never happened.
We did a lot of chores around the house, recycled the Christmas tree, ate lunch at Qdoba and drove down to Lakewood. Trish & Heller had offered Trish's old bike to Ariel, so we wanted to make sure that she would be able to ride it. Initially we had thought about going for a walk at Crown Hill, but we couldn't figure out how to lock the bike safely in the truck. Stopped at Target to pick up some cleaning supplies and then took Pika for a walk at the lake.
Where did this day even go? Pretty sure we had frozen pizza for dinner, watched 2012. The cold I've felt coming on for a few days finally hit full force and it was fairly miserable with all the sneezing and nose-blowing.

Stats:
  • 89,383 steps
  • 7.3 miles run
  • Four gym classes & snowshoeing!
Other:

So I mentioned a few posts ago that my weight has gotten out of control over the last few months. I blame it on beer and actually being happy, haha. I've been making a fairly conscious effort to drink less (rarely drinking during the week, if at all) and if we go to a brewery I try to get a smaller size than a pint and sip it. It's made a difference so far, and I'm done almost 5 pounds since the first of the year. I'd love to drop another 10 before my big spring races.

#NotEatingAllTheThings (Week 7)

Week 1 Recap Here
Week 2 Recap Here
Week 3 Recap Here
Week 4 Recap Here
Week 5 Recap Here
Week 6 Recap Here

Obviously, I was hoping to have another loss on the scale. So close to my initial goal of losing 10 pounds! The food was on track for most of the week, although I pretty much gave myself a free pass on Saturday and Sunday. The downfall this week (again) was some decent beer consumption. It is just so tasty!!

Tuesday - A 2 mile bike ride with A around the neighborhood - SUPER HOT. Also did tank top arms and abs/obliques Fitness Blender videos that Heather sent me. I don't know why she is trying to kill me, I thought we were BFF's :-/
Wednesday - For some reason I got up early and ran on my treadmill again in the basement. 3.33 VERY SLOW miles, but nothing hurt and I didn't die, so that was good. I went to yoga for an hour and learned side crow pose. That was fun.
Thursday - Turbo kickboxing (sub again and she doesn't announce moves very well so that's annoying) and then when I got home I did the tank top arms and abs/obliques videos again. Not quite as hard as the last time.
Friday - Nada. Spent 7 hours in the car driving to Wyoming.
Saturday - Bighorn trail 50k
Sunday - 7 hours in the car driving home. I mowed the lawn. Does that count?
Monday - Was going to try to go to Chaos but was too sore to move so I settled for an Epsom salt bath instead.

I mean, thanks to Bighorn, it looks like I did quite a bit of running. I squeezed in some weight/strength training since I am the weakest human EVER and managed to get an hour of yoga in (which I hadn't done in a few weeks).

Weekly Loss - 0.6 pounds
Loss Since April 30 - 9.8 pounds (oh so close!)

So, again, a small loss, even with all of the beer. It's better than no loss or a gain I guess, but was still hoping to break that 10 pound barrier!

And... so we aren't picture-less this was pre-race dinner from Qdoba

Thoughts:
  • Obviously my highest mileage in AGES, and yet it still doesn't seem to impact weight loss. Again, I find this FASCINATING.
  • For the third week in a row, I am "less" hungry. I guess it is NOT a fallacy.
  • This week I may or may not try to make a more "satisfying" breakfast to help get me through lunch.
  • Again, if I cut back on the beer a bit more, I will likely see better results.
  • I guess I will play the game for one more week...
