Week in Review (August 24 - August 30)

Tuesday (11,396 steps) - Work in the office. Busy enough after my first day in person since before Bigfoot that I worked through my lunch. Left a few minutes early so I could get my scheduled run/walk done before A got done with practice.
Wednesday (5,874 steps) - Work in the office. Did a 30 minute upper body video during lunch. After work I did a Peloton ride that I really enjoyed - all Lady Gaga songs!
Thursday (12,492 steps) - Work from home. Took Pika for a walk at lunch, then did my "power hike" workout after work.
Friday (12,825 steps) - 45 minute Peloton ride before heading to Wash Park to meet up with the gang for a walk.
Work in the office. Happy hour at Jeramiah & Stephanie's house after work.

Saturday (35,114 steps) - Dropped A off at school before 6 am so she could catch her bus to Vail for her first cross country meet of the season. Met Jeramiah in Boulder to do South Boulder & Bear Peak. It was tough, but honestly, after Bigfoot, nothing really feels THAT bad, and I know it's at least not going to last for five days, haha.

Stopped at REI to pick up some things, then home to walk Pika.
Discovered that the water heater finally DID crap out when there was not hot water in the shower.
I love how much food I have now that I work with Abby!
Had lunch and sat around waiting for Ben to get off work to see what we maybe could do with the water heater since all the people we had talked to were booked out for a bit.
Sunday (21,973 steps) - Slept in. Ben called Rheem in the morning to find out if the water heater was under warranty, since it was manufactured in 2015. It was! Once we had that piece of good news we headed to Mount Morrison so I could get the rest of the vert I needed to finish the Leadville 100,000' climbing challenge. The climbs were pretty tough, but not as bad as I remembered. The descents were actually way worse.

We stopped at the newer Barrels and Bottles location in Golden for a beer and some food before heading home.

Rest of the evening was spent screwing around with the water heater to drain and remove.
Monday (8,194 steps) - Up early to get A to school. Since Ben was off work he headed to Home Depot to exchange out the water heater. Of course he ran into complications, even though he had the email from Rheem and had been told by Home Depot there would be no problems. He spent all morning there fighting with staff and calls with corporate with no immediate resolution. Took Pika for a walk at lunch. Day three of not hot water, and none of us are amused.
The leak coming from the ceiling was really the most fun part of the whole experience
When I went to pick A up from practice I convinced Ben to head back to Home Depot to see if someone different was working in customer service. Thankfully, there was, and he was able to get it resolved with minimal complications. Jeramiah came over to help Ben get the new water heater into the basement and installed, although it was after 10 before we were able to get to bed. What a headache.

Stats:
  • 107,868 steps
  • 19.41 miles run

Week in Review (March 13 - March 19)

Tuesday (19,170 steps) - Barre with Gabi!!! Sloan's Lake Tap & Burger run club. One slowish loop with Dulce, and then I felt pretty good, so I decided to do another loop, with Zach. AND THEN I DIED. So fast and so hard, plus, just felt blah the whole run.
Home at a reasonable hour.
Wednesday (19,841 steps) - Runners Roost Boulder run club!
Finally planned to test out my new Hierro 3 with the trails not being as muddy. We had a new route that was up the road to NCAR (bah bah bah) and I had to walk a ton. Just felt so tired this run. Then we ran down the back trail, hit the rollers and then back UP the trail, then down the road. Pretty much the only good part about the run was that I DIDN'T NEED A HEADLAMP AT ALL!!!
Thursday (14,255 steps) - Belmar run club! Dulce wasn't up for running, so for the first time in ages, I ran solo. Big loop and then a little loop. Never felt good the whole run. Ah well.
Friday (9,455 steps) - Barre with Sasha. Went grocery shopping, then picked up pizza for dinner because I didn't actually feel like cooking any of the food I got.
Saturday (36,224 steps) - Runners Edge! I had 16 on scheduled (turns out it was actually 18, but I can't read). Prior to the run I decided I would do 17, since it was the 17th after all. We were told to layer, but prepare for warm weather. LIES. It was windy and awful the whole run. Plus, we were running in Parker, which is pretty much the hilliest part of metro Denver. I ran the first 6 with the group, and last 11 solo.

Outside of the wind, it wasn't the worst run ever, and probably the longest training run I've done in well over a year. After we picked up our aid station we headed over to the new Runners Roost in Stapleton. Spent a few hours there eating pizza and socializing.
Home to shower and nap before going to Ben's for a taco bar with friends. We managed to get out by 8:00ish, in bed shortly after. LONG DAY.
Sunday (14,274 steps) - Initially we had plans to go snowshoeing with Lisa. The forecast for the lower mountains looked awful, so I bailed. Instead, we went to Mount Morrison with Alison, Kristen (and her brother & Ringo) and Alexa. Everyone but Alison and I went to the summit (I didn't feel the need to scramble). Alison and I did a "repeat" on the section between the first mile and the lower summit section.

Went to the Holiday Bar in Morrison for burgers and Bloody Marys.

We love Ringo!!
And then... nothing. Literally nothing, and it was Great. It started thunder snowing late afternoon, and kept on snowing through the Walking/Talking Dead.
Monday (6,676 steps) - I had cancelled my barre class because I didn't feel like getting up early and dealing with possible horrible roads. Good thing, too, because I was exhausted and could barely drag myself out of bed at 6:45. Picked A up at the rec center. Obviously, I did one step above nothing all day.

Stats:
  • 119,895 steps
  • 33.3 miles run
  • 2 barre classes and one steeeep hike

Week in Review (December 26 - January 1)

Tuesday (5,679 steps) - We had plans to go to Wash Park for speed work with Runners Edge. Then it snowed all day and it never got warmer than 13 degrees, so we took yet another rest day. Whoop!
Wednesday (21,263 steps) - Barre with Karen (only class I can take all week because all other 6 am classes cancelled this week with a "modified holiday schedule.") Roost Boulder run club!
I left work 15 minutes early and we weren't crazy late like usual. We did a reverse loop of our normal trail run. It was super icy going up bear, and the initial descent down Skunk was pretty sketchy.
Overall, not too bad. We went to Murphy's for snacks (nachos) since Mountain Sun was closed.
Thursday (10,412 steps) - Belmar run club! We only walked the small loop since we had plans to see Pitch Perfect 3! Met up with the girls at the Alamo Drafthouse in Littleton. Movie was super cute and the food was delicious. Late night since the movie didn't even start until almost 8 pm!
Friday (5,511 steps) - Dentist appointment before work. My office closed early so we 1). opened a new bank account for A and 2). went grocery shopping. There was also a pretty sunset.
Saturday (18,383 steps) - Runners Edge in Golden. SUPER DUPER COLD. I am still not in an official training cycle, so A and I opted to just do the loop, which was 8 miles. It was overcast and foggy all morning and the temperatures did not get above 15 degrees. I did, however, like the route.
Took A to a friend's house for a sleepover. Stopped at Sprouts on the way home to buy ingredients for stir fry.
The evening was NOT spent watching GOT, but watching bad romantic comedies.
Sunday (16,728 steps) - Drove out to Aurora for the Runners Roost ugly sweater run.
The turnout was not very big. I had plans to just run a 5k, and ran the first half with Othman (who was running substantially more).
Stayed at the store chatting with people before picking A up. After lunch we went to Boulder for the Runners Roost fun run. This was my first time running the roads, and it was tough! Lots of climbing in Boulder.

A with Carol and Bret
It was also about 15 degrees colder than it had been in the morning. Picked up ingredients for lasagna, then home. Watched Deep Impact & Core and in bed before midnight. I can't even remember the last time I made it until midnight on New Years Eve.
Monday (13,248 steps) - Drove out to Red Rocks to join a group of friends for Mount Morrison. I had never done this trail and holy crap was it tough! Climbing starts right away, with over 1100' in the first mile! Just under 2 miles to the top, with a bit of climbing/scrambling in the last quarter mile or so. Too steep to run down all of it, and took nearly three hours round trip.

Went into Morrison to the Holiday Bar (so we could also meet up with the Belmar folks who had run out in Bear Creek) for lunch & drinks. It was after 3 before we headed out, so obviously the evening was mostly lost.
Stats:

  • 91,224 steps
  • 25 miles run
  • 1 barre class
