Week in Review (December 26 - January 1)

Tuesday (5,679 steps) - We had plans to go to Wash Park for speed work with Runners Edge. Then it snowed all day and it never got warmer than 13 degrees, so we took yet another rest day. Whoop!
Wednesday (21,263 steps) - Barre with Karen (only class I can take all week because all other 6 am classes cancelled this week with a "modified holiday schedule.") Roost Boulder run club!
I left work 15 minutes early and we weren't crazy late like usual. We did a reverse loop of our normal trail run. It was super icy going up bear, and the initial descent down Skunk was pretty sketchy.
Overall, not too bad. We went to Murphy's for snacks (nachos) since Mountain Sun was closed.
Thursday (10,412 steps) - Belmar run club! We only walked the small loop since we had plans to see Pitch Perfect 3! Met up with the girls at the Alamo Drafthouse in Littleton. Movie was super cute and the food was delicious. Late night since the movie didn't even start until almost 8 pm!
Friday (5,511 steps) - Dentist appointment before work. My office closed early so we 1). opened a new bank account for A and 2). went grocery shopping. There was also a pretty sunset.
Saturday (18,383 steps) - Runners Edge in Golden. SUPER DUPER COLD. I am still not in an official training cycle, so A and I opted to just do the loop, which was 8 miles. It was overcast and foggy all morning and the temperatures did not get above 15 degrees. I did, however, like the route.
Took A to a friend's house for a sleepover. Stopped at Sprouts on the way home to buy ingredients for stir fry.
The evening was NOT spent watching GOT, but watching bad romantic comedies.
Sunday (16,728 steps) - Drove out to Aurora for the Runners Roost ugly sweater run.
The turnout was not very big. I had plans to just run a 5k, and ran the first half with Othman (who was running substantially more).
Stayed at the store chatting with people before picking A up. After lunch we went to Boulder for the Runners Roost fun run. This was my first time running the roads, and it was tough! Lots of climbing in Boulder.

A with Carol and Bret
It was also about 15 degrees colder than it had been in the morning. Picked up ingredients for lasagna, then home. Watched Deep Impact & Core and in bed before midnight. I can't even remember the last time I made it until midnight on New Years Eve.
Monday (13,248 steps) - Drove out to Red Rocks to join a group of friends for Mount Morrison. I had never done this trail and holy crap was it tough! Climbing starts right away, with over 1100' in the first mile! Just under 2 miles to the top, with a bit of climbing/scrambling in the last quarter mile or so. Too steep to run down all of it, and took nearly three hours round trip.

Went into Morrison to the Holiday Bar (so we could also meet up with the Belmar folks who had run out in Bear Creek) for lunch & drinks. It was after 3 before we headed out, so obviously the evening was mostly lost.
Stats:

  • 91,224 steps
  • 25 miles run
  • 1 barre class

Week in Review (November 21 - November 27)

Tuesday (5,923 steps) - Barre with Kelly. Worked almost a 12 hour day, picked up Ang's girls on the way home for another sleepover. (Seriously, I must be crazy). After dinner I made two pumpkin cheesecakes (one with a chocolate crust, one with graham cracker) and we all played Things.
I was starting to feel like I was coming down with something so I went to bed as soon as the cheesecakes were at room temperature.
Wednesday (18,285 steps) - Girls went home around 10:30. Target for cold medicine and then my annual doctor's appointment. Then we headed up to Runners Roost in Boulder for a Thanksgiving Eve trail run! So nice to be running in a skirt and short sleeves in mid November!!

Stopped by Avery to fill up my growler before getting A to her doctors appointment. 1). they no longer take my insurance and it was just fantastic to find that out after we were waiting to see her, $172 out of pocket for a well-child visit!! and 2). she is now officially taller than me at almost 5'1". Appointment took long enough that we didn't have time to get to Wash Park for the Denver store's run, so we stopped by Louisville. Neither of us felt like running, but we had a good time hanging out with everyone.
Thursday (12,395 steps) - Louisville turkey trot! A ran with Maddie for another PR (25:09!) and I (with a full blown sinus infection) suffered through my miles. No official timing, but I ran 33:57 (10:51, 12:12, 9:46). A got some hot chocolate and I had a delicious (FREEE) porter from Liquid Mechanics in the beer garden.
Home to shower and get ready for Friendsgiving at Heather's. I felt horrible and couldn't breathe and/or taste, so probably the first Thanksgiving in the world when I didn't overeat. We had a fun evening, even WITH her home alarm system going off for almost an hour.
Love all my Rooster teammates!
Ben (who HAS to be taller than 6 feet) and A
A's artwork for the party
Friday (3,802 steps) - Slept in until NINE. NINE. Black Friday barre with Sasha! (And apparently the only movement I did allll day). Lounged around until we went to Dulce's house for a "Bah Humbug party." Super fun evening, attempting to do a puzzle and drinking wine. A and I were both tired, so we headed home early.
Saturday (18,106 steps) - Runners Edge! I was really hoping we were going to be at Three Sisters again, but we ended up just running Bergen Park and Elk Meadow. Super sunny, but really windy. Probably a good idea to have a "flatter" run during taper.
Quick shower, then on to Lisa's birthday brunch! Jen hosted an amazing event, there were Bloody Mary's (I only had two all day), cheese & meat, quiche and delicious breakfast burritos. We stayed until about 3, then headed over to Berkeley Park for the Onesie Beer Mile!

A was the "junior" winner!
I was still feeling sick so I opted to volunteer and A was doing the root beer mile. It was a really fun event, they ended up having about 40 people running!
Sunday (12,884 steps) - Team/community run at Runners Roost Aurora. Probably the most fun ever, a 5K scavenger hunt!

We took tons of pictures, did a little running, ate some pie, and (sadly) came in second place. Errands and then packing!
Monday (9,413 steps) - Nothing.

Stats:

  • 80,808 (1. least steps ever, 2. could never ever recreate this total)
  • 19.1 miles run
  • 2 barre classes

Week in Review (November 7 - November 13)

Tuesday (9,392 steps) - Nothing... walked on the treadmill and watched an episode of Game of Thrones.
Wednesday (19,114 steps) - Runners Roost Boulder! Once again, we arrived with like a minute until the trail runners headed out. A decided that she was just going to do the road run at 6:15, so I went out by myself.
I managed to start about 30 seconds after everyone else and that was just enough for me to not be able to catch up. I figured I could re-create a route we did a month or so ago. The trails were crazy muddy and the glowing eyes freaked me out. Plus, I never saw a single person out there. I managed to not get lost.

Got back to the store in time for pizza, beer and dessert. Criminal Minds when we got home.
Thursday (9,386 steps) - Belmar run club!
Friday (13,192 steps) - Barre with Sasha.
Saturday (31,769 steps) - Runners Edge. We were running out of Broomfield, which was nice because we didn't have to get up super early. Ran 6 with the group and the last 8 solo for 14 total.

Home to shower and then met up with Heather and Eric at her house so we could carpool to Lone Tree for our indoor skydiving! We got to iFly a few minutes early, which gave us time to do our waivers. We watched other people take their turns, took our "class," got our super snazzy suits and then a group of us headed in. I will say that it was pretty fun, but that I would never pay full price for it.
Went to California Pizza Kitchen for A's birthday dinner with Heather, Eric, Beth and James. Service was terrible, company was great.

Sunday (14,898 steps) - A was running the Great Candy Run with her Girls on the Run team. I didn't want to pay $40 to run a 5K, so after I dropped her off with her school I ran 3ish by myself and then headed to the start to watch. It's always fun to spectate!

After everyone was done we stayed at the finish eating candy and socializing. We went with Ang and her girls to Chipotle (50% of all proceeds were being donated to GOTR for the day) and then home. Walking/Talking Dead.
Monday (16,684 steps) - Last New Terrain run club of the year (sad face). Since Dulce was with us we told the group to not wait for us at the intersections. I felt pretty good and would run sections, then wait for Dulce and A. We ran the 4.5 mile loop and it took a long time, but the weather was really nice. We socialized for a bit with the group before heading home.
Stats:
  • 114,435 steps
  • 31.4 miles run
  • 1 barre class

Week in Review (October 10 - October 16)

Tuesday (8,102 steps) - Nothing. A had student council so I couldn't go to barre before work. Related, A is the President of student council this year!
Wednesday (22,449 steps) - With the addition of the Runners Roost in Boulder, we now have yet ANOTHER run club that we need to try to work in. Even though it snowed on Monday, it was warm (like 70 degrees) and we wanted to hit the trails. We decided to go to Roost because they were doing a zombie themed run. We barely arrived in time to do the trail run (they start earlier, 5:45). I had never run the trails in Boulder, and were we in for a challenge! Over 900' of climbing, with some sections being incredibly muddy. We even saw a herd of deer! I had to use my headlamp for the last three miles - I miss running when it's light out.

We made it back in time for some pizza from Under the Sun and beer from Avery. Sadly, we did not win any of the big prizes (Roost gift cards) in the raffle. We stayed and talked to Kristen (who unfortunately was late and missed the trail run) for a few before heading home. Fun, dirty night. Those Boulder trails are no joke!!
Thursday (14,083 steps) - Belmar run club!

And you're never going to believe it, but I won the grand prize AGAIN. Yes, I won the indoor skydiving that Brooks raffled off. AGAIN. I could hardly believe it. I gave my winning ticket to Heather and Eric so they can join us - should be a ton of fun when we finally end up going.
Friday (9,722 steps) - Barre with Kelly. After work we went up to Heather's for some Halloween fun.
After that we went over to Lisa's. A finally watched her first horror movie - Freddy v. Jason (and she wasn't totally traumatized).
Saturday (19,972 steps) - Runners Edge! We had the start/finish aid station, so we had HOURS to run/sit. We decided on 6 easy miles.

It was actually nice that we started when we did. We sat in Einstein's until it was time to pick up our aid station and it got really cold and foggy. We picked up around 10 and then headed to the RnR expo. (Boo, hiss).
Amy, A and me
I ended up taking a nap for a few hours before we went to Amy's informal wedding reception. We only stayed about an hour because I was so exhausted.
Sunday (31,050 steps) - RnR Denver half marathon. Forced ourselves to go grocery shopping on the way home so that we wouldn't have to attempt to do it later. By the time we got home we were exhausted. Laundry and I think in bed early.
Monday (8,967 steps) - Skipped going to New Terrain so that we could go to Denver Roost for Ladies Night! The whole week is a big celebration of their 40th anniversary! There was food and shopping deals and a costume contest (which, apparently no one except A and I knew was happening). I actually won a raffle prize (pretty cool actually - a muscle sound body composition scan??) and I won the costume contest - a gift card to the store!
Almost everyone in this picture is a store employee

Week in Review (August 4 - August 10)

Tuesday  (12,097 steps) - Slept really well thanks to a cold front coming through overnight. Took Olive for a walk and was *almost* chilly. ...
