Week in Review (May 29 - June 4)

Tuesday (15,193 steps) - My first time at RUNBARRE! An "easy" 3 mile run, then Barre Express, all before 8 am!
Wednesday (18,646 steps) - Dentist appointment before work. Runners Roost Boulder run club! It started raining (pretty heavily) on our drive up. We delayed the start of the run by just a couple minutes and it was barely sprinkling by the time we started.
Huge temperature drop, but lots of humidity. Probably the most challenging run we've done, up NCAR twice, nearly 1300' of vertical. Eeep.
Thursday (13,663 steps) - Skipped barre, was feeling very sore after the Boulder run. Belmar run club. Ran with Mo & Colfax.
Friday (10,415 steps) - Barre with Gabi! After work I met up with Denise & A at the Roost in Denver to help with packet pick up for Palmer Lake half marathon.
Saturday (24,383 steps) - Up at 4 am to volunteer at the Palmer Lake half marathon! First we helped out with bib pick up, then just kind of helped out wherever I was needed.

We were there until almost noon. The drive home was horrendous - so much traffic south of the city! We stopped by to visit with Phil. I still had to do my "long" run, so I headed out around 4:00 for 8 miles. So hot, and having beer/food before that probably didn't help. Ick. I did, however, get to see baby goats, and I consider that a win!

Sunday (15,103 steps) - Up early AGAIN, this time to volunteer at the mile 6/19 aid station at Revel! We met up with Ted and Mo, and spent 4 hours handing out water.

Quick trip to the finish line, then lunch at Mill Street/Holiday.
WARM 3 mile run with Mo & A in Bear Creek park before going over to Lisa's for a BBQ. Ended up staying way too late for a work night. First Sunday afternoon in ages that we weren't home and missed the big excitement of a FIRE in the building next to us :o
Monday (16,452 steps) - Felt pretty icky all day. New Terrain run club in the fiery hot heat. I hate summer.

Stats:
  • 113,855 steps
  • 27.9 miles run
  • 2 barre classes

Week in Review (April 24 - April 30)

Tuesday (5,482 steps) - It was randomly cold and snowy again. We decided to skip our run. Again. Did nothing.
Wednesday (17,253 steps) - Runners Roost Boulder! Barely got to the store in time, between a Rockies game and a lane closure on Park. Lower road section went fine, then my feet went numb after starting the Skunk ascent. Struggled a LOT during this run. However, had a super speed mile on the way down, so that was fun.

Went to Under the Sun with the guys for a bit, but didn't eat or have a drink.
Thursday (11,226 steps) - Barre with Sienna. Belmar run club! I ran "fast" with Annette. Only did a small loop because I was tired.

And Zach and I both wore amazing cat shirts
Friday (7,571 steps) - A had a half day and I told her that her friend could spend the night. We stayed up until about 10 watching Goonies (my choice) and The Notebook (their choice).
Saturday (29,435 steps) - Westminster Trail half marathon! We stuck around for food/chatting, then headed back to the house around 11:30. A's friend got picked up around 1:45. We ran errands, then did nothing the rest of the day.
Sunday (55,074 steps) - Up EARLY so that I could get in my last long run of this training cycle. I used the Strava route builder for the first time and came up with a 25ish mile loop (about 80% of which I had run before). The forecast was approximately nine million degrees, so starting at 6:30 was a good call.

It was blissfully overcast for the first hour or so, but then the sun came out and it started to get warm. I managed to run into Denise around mile 6, and we talked for 5-6 minutes. Heading down towards a newish trail head, I spied... a bathroom! Hurray! The rest of the day was a bit rough. I thought I had brought enough water, but I really hadn't.

At least I had mapped the route to have all the shaded areas towards the end. About mile 18 was when I really started to struggle. I had about 6 ounces of water left, and knew that I was probably 7 miles from the car, with a decent amount of climbing to go. I had ventured up into Eldorado Canyon for the first time, and the highlight was definitely the elderly couple having lunch that offered me some grapes. So sweet!! Finally, I could see the tunnel under highway 93, only it was at LEAST a mile further than I thought. I managed to clock 26 miles, I was so thirsty I didn't even care enough for the extra .2. Immediately headed to the gas station and got a 32 ounce diet coke that I finished before I even got home. A and I went to Torchy's for lunch, then spent the rest of the day... doing nothing.
Monday (16,134 steps) - New Terrain! There were actually some "slower" people there, so I was able to keep in a pack with a half dozen other people, so that was nice. Made the group shot again! Stuck around long enough to have a beer before heading home.

Stats:

  • 142,175 steps
  • 51.6 miles run - and officially tapering!
  • 2 barre classes!

Week in Review (April 10 - April 16)

Tuesday (16,732 steps) - I had grand plans of running three loops at Sloans. Then I got off work late and was only to start a few minutes early. I had a great run, and finished two loops "super speedy."
Wednesday (18,489 steps) - Runners Roost Boulder!
There were talks about adding a mile-ish of technical climbing that I was sorta down for, but then it was added that it would be "fast," which I'm not. I was still tired on this run, but once again, I finished faster than I thought I did, so that was nice.

Thursday (14,432 steps) - Barre with Sienna. After work, Belmar run club. I ran with Mo and Colfax for the first time in ages, which really helped the miles fly by. This has been a big mileage week, and I'm definitely feeling it.

Funny hands, and who knows what's happening with my skirt
Friday (14,102 steps) - Rest day!
Saturday (45,861 steps) - Loooong run with Runners Edge in Boulder. 22 on schedule, and it was everything I thought it might be and more. Funny how 20 just a few weeks ago was "hard," but not "awful." Anyway, go through it with minimal whining.

We went to brunch with Alexa and Under the Sun (using our $25 gift certificate from Stout Month). JT met up with us for the last half hour or so, crazy as usual.
Then, picked up our aid station and proceeded to do nothing for the rest of the day, going to bed at 8:30.
Sunday (25,589 steps) - Left the house at 7:30 to drive to Deer Creek canyon for the Fear the Deer training run. I had only run out there once, for the race, back in 2013. I knew that there was a decent amount of climbing on this route. We had plans to do the 6-7 mile route. Unfortunately, Alison and I misread the map and ended up taking a lengthy detour. We ended up doing just over 10. Oops?

Mo, Ariel and Colfax did NOT do 10, because they are smarter than I am
Went to breakfast at IHOP with Mo, quick trip to the grocery store, then A had to go to a scout meeting. I did some laundry, some yoga, and watched an episode of GOT. Then, Walking Dead finale.
Monday (25,672 steps) - Barre express with Karen. New Terrain run club! I had it in my head all day that I was going to do a big loop, and that's exactly what I did. I knew that sunset was just after 7:30 and assumed it was going to take me around 2 hours. I started just before 6, and finished right as the sun was setting. No falling, and actually, a decently "fast" pace for me.

Meanwhile, A had a great time running with the group and Sean got some great pictures of her.

Sean, Ryan, Becki Lynn & A
Becki bought me a beer and we had a great time chatting until we realized it was super late and we still needed to go home and make dinner. Fun night!!

Stats:

  • 148,187 steps
  • 56.7 miles run (can that be right??)
  • 2 barre classes & some yoga
