Week in Review (December 8 - December 14)

Tuesday (10,746 steps) - Work in the office. I had only planned on being there until lunch, but it was crazy busy, so I ended up being there much longer than I had planned.
Wednesday (19,256 steps) - Work from home. More moving & unpacking. Robin seems to have found a temporary sleeping spot.
A signed up for winter training for track, and I picked her up from practice. I hope she appreciated the sunset she got to see while she was suffering...
Thursday (12,136 steps) - Work in the office in the morning. Have I mentioned that I really love my new house and windows? Pretty sunrise.
More moving, unpacking, cleaning.
Friday (12,361 steps) - Work from home. It had snowed overnight, so it was a cold and snowy walk with Pika.
More moving and unpacking. Robin is seriously having a blast with the house in disarray.
Saturday (35,276 steps) - Ben is finally back to work after his surgery, so I drove down to Chatfield to run the Plum Creek "half marathon." I put that in quotes because it was closer to 13.5 miles, but we ended up running 14 miles because it was another half mile to get back to the car. Maureen and I planned to run together, and honestly, if we hadn't made plans, I may have bailed.
The forecast all week just gradually got colder, and when I was driving to the race it was 17 degrees. Even though it was cloudy, I of course got hot once we were running and my jacket went into my pack within the first 10 minutes. I guess I assumed that since we were running in the state park and had to pay to enter, that people were "working" at the park and the path would have been plowed. I was wrong. So, we ran 14 miles in snow and ice. It was not the best run ever, in fact, it really sucked. But it was pretty and Maureen is great company.

The race was free, and put on by the same guy that puts on the Hildebrand (Two Branches) trail race I've run a few times. We were "so slow" that he pulled up the last markings and so we aren't really sure on our official time. It was slow, and the longest I have run since Moab.

Mile 12 - 13:55
Mile 13 - 13:36
Mile 14 - 14:58 (didn't pause while we were talking to RD after finishing)

Meh. I am really just... out of shape. Plus, with moving and everything else that has been going on for the last few months, I'm just tired. After we finished we went to Living the Dream with Greg, Lisa, Paula and John for a beer. As much as I miss friends, I was really cold, so I headed out first.
Ariel and I went over to the old house to pack up the last of the stuff and do some pre-cleaning before the cleaning company (I don't want other people to see a dirty toilet!)
Sunday (16,555 steps) - Ben had to work again, and I somehow slept until 9:30. 9:30!! Ariel shoveled and then we did a few more trips to the old house to do laundry and clean a bit more.
I took Pika for a walk and A had a friend over. It's super weird having to wear a mask in your own house, but I really think the few hours she had company really helped. Ben and I had a very, very last trip to the house to touch up paint over the few places we had bigger holes from medal racks and pictures. Bye, house!
Monday (12,079 steps) - Work from home. I walked to meet the cleaning company at lunch, then took Pika for a snowy, cold walk.

Since Ben was working I took Ariel to practice and then picked her up again when I was off. I headed over to Field to do the walk through with the new owners! I was there a few minutes early to check on the the work the cleaners did - look how clean they got the oven! Anyway, they were really nice, and we chatted for a few minutes before I handed them the keys. Kinda nostalgic saying goodbye to the house A and I lived in for over 5 years. (Also, did not feel like it was that long at all).
Watched a cheesy movie with A, had dinner, then more TV before bed. Long day!

Stats:

  • 18.1 miles run

Week in Review (December 1 - December 7)

Tuesday (12,126 steps) - Work from home. Cold front came through and it was NOT warm. Went for the lunch walk with Pika solo because Ben was putting together the bar stools that we ordered.
Skipped the evening walk because I had almost frozen to death earlier. Finished packing up the medals. (Have I mentioned that I have a zillion of them?)
Went to Home Depot to price out appliance bundles, didn't order anything.
Wednesday (11,748 steps) - Work in the office in the morning. Home in time to take Pika for her lunch walk. More packing!
Thursday (16,759 steps) - Work from home. WE CLOSED ON THE NEW HOUSE!!

I know I passively talked about what's been going on, but I have to hand it to our realtor. We sold my house when we were running Moab 240 and closed in just two weeks with an amazing cash offer. The contract we accepted also gave us 60 days to stay in our place while we looked for something else. While we did have some things in storage for a "cleaner" showing, we now have a few weeks to move from our old house to our new one, which saves a LOT of stress. The only "issue" we even encountered was the sellers not having the house cleaned before closing. But once again, our realtor to the rescue, he got a cleaners scheduled for the the next day. So, minor bummer that we were not able to start moving "in" right away, but we got some stuff done around the house (painting) and some things moved into the garage.
Cookie basket and flowers from our realtor!
Friday (25,277 steps) - Work from home. Ben did more work at the new house while A and I were still at our old house. The cleaning company came and spent a few hours deep cleaning the new house. The weather was SO nice that I extended my lunch break a bit to go for a 30 minute run after I walked Pika. We made a TON of trips between the old and new house.
Saturday (17,029 steps) - Woke up ridiculously early for a weekend and got to work right away. It took most of the day, but I got my shelving units built for our new mud room! Most of this was done on my own, but Ariel did help with two of them.
LONG day, and more trips between the old and new house.
Sunday (20,772 steps) - Up "early" for another in person race! RMRR 4.5 mile at Wash Park. I hadn't run with RMRR since the March race right before everything shut down. They did a great job of contactless registration and even figured out an easier way for us to stagger start based on our handicaps. I didn't run as fast as the last time I ran this race (2018), but my biggest success was that I didn't feel horrible and I actually ran 100% of the race - didn't walk once!

Garmin Time - 46:29
Garmin Distance  4.54
Garmin Pace - 10:15
Mile 1 - 10:22
Mile 2 - 10:27
Mile 3 - 10:16
Mile 4 - 10:07
Mile 4.5 - 9:51

I hung around until the end and chatted with some folks before heading home. More moving. Pika walk!
Pulled out the matchy matchy pajamas I got everyone and took some pictures. We are dorky :D

Monday (12,628 steps) - Work from home. More moving. Pika walk. That's about it...

Stats:
  • 116,339 steps
  • 7.1 miles run
  • 29 minutes cross training

Week in Review (Mar 25 - March 31)

Tuesday - I may or may not have called in late for work so I could go for a run with L. With the kids gone, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get off the treadmill again. It was COLD out, mid 20's, and my left hip was SORE from when I fell on my trail run. I had to walk a bit in the early miles, but knocked out 5 miles and was only an hour late to work. I didn't miss anything anyway.

Wednesday - Before work I did the toned, lean arms video again. I am still so weak. How is this possible? So far, I think I actually like the really long arm tabata video the best, but obviously, I was on limited time. After work, I ran the Green Mountain loop again. After my fall on the trail run, I was already sore. This was a bit of a struggle and MUCH slower and windier and colder than when I ran it Monday. Also, a lot more bikes, so I was jumping off the trail a TON.

Thursday - A was supposed to be back earlier in the day, so I skipped the gym and did the lower body butt and thigh tabata video while I was waiting for her. Due to poor road conditions, they didn't get in until after 9:00.

Friday - My first for REAL complete rest day since... October. The last day of packing/preparing for our big office move, and I was busy all day. I also ate a ton of candy. Stress eating!!
Saturday - Got up and went to the gym to run on the treadmill. I had planned on an "easy hour" - but I was still just lethargic and sore and tired, so I ran 3ish miles and called it quits. Sat in the sauna. Spent the day running errands and grocery shopping. After dinner, upper body tabata video.

Sunday - Took the kids to see Frozen at the cheapo movie theater. Yes, we know it is on video, and yes, we own it. It costs $2.50 for TWO people to see movies there! In the afternoon, I took the kids roller skating - they had FREE passes for spring break. I did the brutal butt and thigh video and finally some abs.
Monday - Moving IN to the new office at work. I still had to park in my lot by the old building, and it was 1.3 miles of walking each way. In the wind. (No, it was not uphill both ways). Had an amazing 6+ mile run on the treadmill at the gym.

Weekly Miles Run - 21.4 (trails - 13.4, road - 5.3, treadmill - 9.4)
Weekly Cross Training - Nada
Minutes of Strength - 139

Weekly Gain - 1.6 pounds
  • I am sucking majorly at #NotEatingAllTheThings Round 2. I ate probably a half dozen donuts, mini cheesecakes, went out to eat a few times, pizza, etc... eating way off track all weekend. If I'm going to bother, I need to buckle down and take this more seriously.
  • I have gained back close to half of what I lost last/spring summer. I'd hate for all the new clothes I got last year to not fit or be tight and unflattering.
  • I did buy beer for the first time in about 6 weeks, and it was tasty and delicious (I still have 3 left).
  • No cooking this week, except roasting some sweet potatoes. A wanted a "break" and I for real can't eat that many leftovers of the same thing.
Not pictured are the hundreds of donuts and treats I consumed. I was too involved with stuffing my face.
Everything Else
  • Moving. The. Office. Just as un-fun as it sounds. I did a lot of packing (not just my own stuff) and of course, unpacking as well. For real, if/when I move again, I am taking nothing but my clothes. Everything else can go!
  • And other than the fact that I didn't get to spend spring break with A, things are same ol' same ol'. At least she got to enjoy some nature and warmer weather!
