Week in Review (August 25 - August 31)

Tuesday (13,772 steps) - Peloton and Olive walk before going to work. Gym at lunch for StairMaster, some strength training and a treadmill hike.
Another Olive walk after dinner and Criminal Minds?
Wednesday (29,707 steps) - Took a random work from home day since Joyce is still out. Took Olive for a walk to the lake before clocking in and another short walk at lunch. Had a workout, so went to North Table so I would have a hill for repeats. Thankfully it was a bit cooler than expected, but the repeats were REALLY tough - I should've picked a less steep hill!

Drove down the street to the bagel shop for a snack and to finish out the workday. Then headed over to Apex where I took a short walk before my volunteer shift of trail work started. I partnered with a gal named Sarah who hadn't done maintenance before, weather was cool and I was quickly reminded of how sore I get doing this!

Ben had ordered in Mod Market for dinner, and we barely had time to sit before it was time for bed already.
LONG DAY.
Thursday (20,999 steps) - Thanks to these eternally annoying meetings at work, I had to get up to run in the morning. I guess the run was fine, and I was lucky that I woke up before my alarm went off and started early because somehow it was longer than what I mapped out. Actually not bad.

Olive walk before driving to work. Waited a little longer to go to the gym in the morning for a quick workout in hopes of avoiding my boss, but NO, ran into her again in the locker room. Easy, quick full body workout. Stupid meeting at lunch.
Quick walk after around town and then took Olive for a walk when I got home. Took Robin to the vet after that for a follow-up. I wasn't sure if her abscess was healing well.
Since I had actually made an appointment we didn't have to see an ER vet, so it a). wasn't as much money, and b). we seemingly got more proactive advice. This doc seemed to think she was NOT too old for anesthesia/dental procedure and since they actually had an opening the next day for surgery, I snagged it. Unfortunately we would get a call a few hours later saying that they had messed up scheduling but could we do it Saturday instead? Usual trip to Torchy's for dinner.
Criminal Minds?
Friday (10,935 steps) - With Joyce being out and me having already told co-workers that Robin had a surgery scheduled, I decided to take another work from home day. Took Olive for a walk to the lake before logging in.
Another walk at lunch. Panda Express for dinner and another walk with Olive. Watched the livestream of UTMB!
Saturday (38,835 steps) - Up early to get Robin to the vet for her dental procedure.
Took Olive for a long walk while Ben went to Dutch Bros to get us much needed coffee.
We listened to the livestream of UTMB so we could hear/see the female winner cross. Inspirational! Up to Centennial Cone for the activity of the day.

We got the call from the vet probably 10 minutes into the run and had to stop to talk to him on speaker on Ben's phone since we had minimal service. Turns out the issue is NOT her teeth (he was going to take two out, but they were not the main issue). Apparently, she has a tumor on her jaw and he suspects it is bone cancer. With her age and other medical issues there isn't much to be done other than keep her comfortable. Did not ever think that would be the problem, poor Robin!

At some point Ben and I got separated, he had been having some cramping on/off, but we had planned for it, so I continued on.
Finished the loop and then went back to get him and finish up together. A relatively strong 15ish miles for me! We called the vet again and confirmed that by the time we got back to town that she would be ready for us to pick her up.
:(
After we brought her home we went to Corona's for lunch. The rest of the evening was spent taking care of Robin and watching UTMB, then some Criminal Minds.
Sunday (16,765 steps) - Olive walk while getting some things done around the house before going up to Boulder for our activity of the day.

Costco and binge watched "Death of a Pastor's Wife."
Monday (21,102 steps) - Olive walk to the lake before clocking in for the day. Went for my run late morning before it got too hot. Not terrible, and they rangers are closing more trails :(

Another walk to the lake at lunch with Olive. Ben made dinner and more Criminal Minds.

  • 33.87 miles run

Week in Review (April 29 - May 5)

Tuesday (15,232 steps) - Peloton and Olive walk before going to work. Gym session during lunch. Back to the grind on the StairMaster.
Walked Olive after work and then Ben and I went to a new sushi restaurant in town. Unlimited sushi meant that we were both STUFFED afterwards.

Criminal Minds!
Wednesday (23,066 steps) - Walked Olive before going to work. Went for my run at lunch, first workout since Monster. It went pretty well and the weather was good. Torchy's for dinner and more Criminal Minds.
Thursday (10,948 steps) - Work from home. Long walk with Olive on the bike path since I figured the trails would be soggy. Peloton ride and some cross training. Met Ben at Costco so we could pick up some groceries. By the time we got done we decided to just grab a pizza because we didn't feel like cooking.
Friday (13,731 steps) - Wash Park with the gang. Fairly uninteresting day at work, as you can tell by this picture of Olive.
Olive and I met Ben at 4 Noses for happy hour.
We felt like a burger for dinner and found out that Hops n' Drops recently closed. Wth! Ended up taking Olive home and going to Hoffbrau. The food is ok, but the restaurant is a little too "much" for us (loud and lots of people). Criminal Minds!
Saturday (26,078 steps) - Took Olive for a walk and then we headed to Golden to meet up with Larry. We picked Apex since none of us had been there in a while. The lot was crazy full, although we did start relatively late. We went up Argos side (to get more miles/vert).
Universally we decided to skip going to the "trail head" at Lookout and just headed straight for Enchanted.
Not nearly as many people on this segment and still very grateful that we have alternating use days on this part so we don't have to worry about getting hit by a mountain biker.
Went to Parry's afterwards for a beer and snack before heading home to walk Olive.
Spent some time working in the yard before making dinner. Finished the newest Handmaid's Tale and watched G-20, which was decent.
Sunday (12,215 steps) - Weren't sure if we needed to help A out with moving so we headed up to Boulder early for our activity of the day - Mount Sanitas! Olive did very well for her first summit.

The more technical part of the descent wasn't super fun with lots of people and Olive not navigating the best but things improved a bit when we got to the road.
She wasn't super interested in running, so it took longer than we hoped. I was supposed to hit 1,500' of climbing for the day so we started to head back up to hit my vert goal.
Discovered that Vision Quest was dog friendly (even inside!) so we headed there for a beer.
No food nearby so we went to Twisted Pine. The food was good, the beer was ok and the service was... meh. I think it was just the one guy working at the bar and he also had to put in all the food orders, so he was a little grumpy.
No real recollection of what we did when we got home. At some point we made dinner and then watched The Last Breath, also good. Apparently I've also never watched Parks and Recreation, so we started that, getting through the first episode.
Monday (17,295 steps) - Work from home. Rain was in the forecast so I got my run out of the way mid morning.
Took Olive for a walk. After lunch I drove down to Big O to get my tire looked at. It's been a while, but my rear passenger tire has been losing air. They were able to get me in right away and were able to get it patched. Did some deliveries after work before meeting Ben at Torchy's for a Cinco de Mayo dinner of queso and a taco bowl. More Parks & Rec.

Stats:
  • 118,565 steps
  • 21.35 miles run
  • 18.4 miles walked

Week in Review (March 5 - March 11)

Tuesday (15,597 steps) - Peloton rides before work in the office. Went to the gym at lunch for strength training. After work I had to go to a meeting at the school for A's upcoming trip to France. Ben brought pizza home for dinner.
End of day progress!
Wednesday (10,366 steps) - Woke up in the middle of the night sweating, with a stomach ache. Ended up puking my guts out and basically crying on the bathroom floor. I cleaned up and tried to go back to bed, but it took forever to go back to sleep. I ended up calling in sick (and by "calling in sick" - I took a remote day) so I could sleep in. Mainly, I just didn't want to be away from a bathroom. Took Olive for multiple walks so I could still get my steps in as I planned to skip my evening run.
End of day progress!
Thursday (14,870 steps) - Work from home. I had a lot of miles on schedule, but since I wasn't really eating and still felt like garbage,  I only did a little under 4 miles. After work, I headed up to LONGMONT for A's first soccer game! I maybe forgot to mention that she opted to not run Track and tried out for soccer and made varsity! The weather was COLD and drizzled most of the night. They didn't win, and A only got to play for maybe 25 minutes, but it was more entertaining than I thought it would be. Next time I really need twice (or three times) as many layers.

A in all white!

Evening progress
Friday (24,022 steps) - Work in the office. Since I've been lethargic all week, I skipped the morning walk and coffee. Had to work on an amended tax return because we forgot about a form - ugh, we owe even more than I feared. Did a decent amount of driving after work since we have had all sorts of crazy expenses lately. Took Olive for a walk and dinner at home and "Only Murders in the Building."
Saturday (31,645 steps) - Met Terri and Larry at Mt. Falcon for the Saturday adventure. We were a bit late, but we got started before 9 am. The lower trails were covered in a thin layer of frost, but I could tell they would be muddy later. Beautiful morning!

LOTS of climbing, and soon we were in the trees where it was more snow and ice. Larry sure is a strong hiker for an old dude!

The way down wasn't much faster going, lots of ice, slush and mud. UGH!

Once we got back into the sun, we could see how bad the trails were - COMPLETE mud fest. The last .75 or so was soooo slick and I almost lost my shoe in the mud more than once. I wouldn't be surprised if the trails were closed after this!

We all went to Parry's after for a beer and a snack. Somehow, before we knew it, it was mid afternoon. Took Olive for a walk, then we went to Home Depot to paint color swatches before going to 4 Noses. Contractor was done for the day - almost completely finished now!!

Sunday (24,777 steps) - Stupid, stupid daylight savings. We headed out for a quick jaunt at Apex. Of course this was a day when only bikes could do Enchanted, but with it not being a zillion degrees, the exposed switchbacks were fine. Trail closest to the parking lot was ALREADY muddy, but the higher ones were dry.

Until we got to the trees, then it was even more snow-packed than and drifts/icy than we had experienced at Mt. Falcon. This was a bit more slow going than we planned, and the steeper climbs took a bit with all the snow.

The way back wasn't bad and we had a nice run down - lots of people. The lower trails actually seemed less muddy than on the way up. We stopped to return the excess tile, then went to Home Depot to buy the paint and supplies. We went to lunch at Torchy's for the first time in ages. I took Olive for a walk while Ben washed my car.
No idea where the rest of the day went, but by the time I did deliveries for a few hours it was time for dinner.
Monday (22,327 steps) - Work from home. Went for my run pretty early in the morning. It was supposed to be nearly 60, but it was overcast and I was content in pants and a long sleeve. I didn't do as many miles as were on  my schedule, but was fine with the effort. Still feeling tired after being sick.
Took Olive for walk - in this picture she spotted a cat across the canal.
Errands and deliveries after work. Met Ben at Parry's for a beer and then Ben got most of the painting done in the bathroom, although some of it will need a second coat. It's 99% done, just need to finish the shower fixtures. Wooo, we made it!

Totally love the shower pan!
