Week in Review (February 21 - February 27)

Tuesday (19,456 steps) - Work in the office.
I love my Crues!
It was actually warm enough for a walk outside at lunch. I had moved my run because the weather was SO nice. I headed to Candelas to run the southern Rocky Flats trails. I had 45 minutes on schedule, and the first 10-15 were fairly horrific and painful, but then things loosened up and it was good!
Took Olive for a quick walk when I got home.
Wednesday (10,488 steps) - We got MORE SNOW. SOOOO SICK OF WINTER. We had a mandatory in-person staff meeting though, so off to work I went. And boy, I looked adorable.
Thankfully, nothing alarming happened at the meeting. Plus, we got free lunch, so that was nice. After work, I took Olive for a walk, even though it was like -2 (with an even colder "feels like") temperature. Olive didn't care. She loves snow.
Can you see her ice beard? So cute
Meanwhile, I almost froze, and that's WITH remembering to wear the balaclava. Short yoga video before dinner.
Thursday (15,439 steps) - Work from home, thankfully. Took Olive for a long walk at lunch and I really thought I was going to die. Even with the sun out, it was NOT warm, and I was miserable. With that said, we still went to run club! Maya was a no-show, but Maureen and Colfax actually came. I haven't seen them in a long time. Mo isn't really running, but we did jog the first mile or so and did some shorter running segments. Olive had a blast, like usual.

Hi, I look crazy.
Friday (16,612 steps) - I was the only one stupid brave enough to meet up with Pete at Wash Park. Holy crap, this was sooooo cold. My hair froze within the first 10 minutes.
Work in the office. Walked on the treadmill at lunch. Took Olive for a mid-length walk after work. It was actually a lot warmer, about freezing! Woo!
Saturday (11,679 steps) - Headed up to Boulder. I had only 45 minutes on schedule and originally thought I might join Rev Run, but then thought I should take Olive and do some trails. She did REALLY good.

Spent a bit of time at Runner's Roost waiting for Tyler to finish, then we went to Resolute for a beer. Yum!
Ariel and I went to Amy's house to celebrate her son's birthday. Then headed home. A had to work, so that meant a LOT of tv for me. (Grease and like 3 episodes of Lost). Leftovers for dinner.
Sunday (12,622 steps) - Didn't have a run on schedule, but did have a 45 minute walk. Figured I could do a run/walk, something easy with Olive. Hoped that it wouldn't be too muddy yet at the lake. Olive was doing a LOT better with not pulling!
Unfortunately, after about 2 miles, we hit a LOT of really bad, slick mud. It was NOT fun. And that's also when I discovered that dogs can get "mudballs" too :( Olive was not super thrilled. We got off the trails as soon as we could. Unfortunately, she was VERY muddy.
That meant... bath time.
She actually did really well, and didn't seem too upset about it. Ben picked me up and we went to the tap room for a beer, then up to Salsa's for a late lunch. Nothing else.
Monday (25,291 steps) - Work from home. Went for my run at lunch (and it was ok, but really windy) and took Olive for a walk. Went with Ben to Cherry Creek to check out the Freebird store. I found tons of stuff I liked, but he didn't love anything he tried. A quick beer at Woods Boss before going home.
Took Olive for a walk and then another night at dog training. Didn't go as well as last week, she was having a much harder time with follow-through.

Week in Review (November 8 - November 14)

Tuesday (21,296 steps) - One would have hoped I would have been able to stay in bed longer after basically having been up for three straight days. That was NOT the case. Even though it was probably 4 am before we went to sleep I was still up before 8? We went downstairs to see what was available at the breakfast buffet - I was very pleased!! The rest of the day is kind of a blur. We went back to the room and I definitely ended up falling asleep again. Woke up and decided we needed to get out and look at that big bridge in the daylight. On the way we tried to find a waterfall, but didn't have much luck. We did find turkeys, however!
And this smaller bridge that looked pretty neat too.

We were able to find the turnoff that had the signage in the race and walked over - go me, I walked about a mile and a half.
We decided that we were pretty hungry, so we headed to one of the only restaurants in town for dinner, the Peppermill. It was really REALLY good. And yes, I finished everything on this plate, plus took some cheesecake to go!
After getting back to the room we had to pack up and get ready to leave. I spent a LONG time sitting in Lisa's foot massager, which was WONDERFUL. Went to bed fairly early, but I didn't sleep well at all with tender skin/legs. Ugh.
Wednesday (9,607 steps) - Up relatively early. Finished packing at got food at the buffet again. Still delicious. Made a quick stop to get a snow brush and drinks at the gas station before heading out of town for the long (but not as long as the way out) drive back to Denver. It was COLD and very foggy most of the drive. We finally stopped at a tiny cafe just in Sedgwick.

The food was SO delicious - and not expensive! The rest of the drive was really uneventful, and we got to the house maybe around 3:00. Initially, the door wouldn't unlock, so that wasn't fun. Luckily it hadn't been that long since I'd changed the passcode, so I knew how to change the batteries and get that done. Ben was supposed to be moved out while I was gone, but all he'd done was cancel the internet and move a few things. I went to pick up the cats, then tried to get the internet done, but it was too late in the day. Arg.
Thursday (9,907 steps) - THANKFULLY, I had decided to take an extra day off at the end of my vacation. This ended up being a CRAZY busy day. Still not sleeping well (which is not abnormal after these longer races, it takes me at least a week or two for my skin to feel less twitchy and everything to calm down). Ariel and I got coffee, but she had to go to school. After she left, I opened up one of my packages that had arrived while I was gone. I was excited to see my shipment of beginner crochet kits!
I decided I REALLY wanted to try to make Ariel the penguin for her birthday. I had even ordered accessories for it - a birthday cake and party hat. First, I needed to start - and actually learn how to crochet. Ugh.
All the initial training happens through videos, and I was trying to watch them on my phone. It worked, but it wasn't ideal. I made some basic progress, but then decided I had other things OUTSIDE the house that really needed to get done. I made a grocery list and headed out, also stopping to pick up my Xfinity modem for the internet - which I was told was "super" easy to install. We'll see.
Then, had to go to Target to get all the essentials that we had run out of over the last few months that Ben didn't replace, even though household stuff was supposed to be his responsibility. I digress.
I had a little bit of time before Ariel would be home, so I worked on the crochet. I got a little stuck and Kristin had offered to assist, so I headed over to hear house for an hour-ish so she could explain things a bit more clearly and help. "Pierre" is coming along nicely, I think!!
Since I was going to be losing some furniture, I headed to AFW to look at stuff and had Ariel join me when she was done with practice. Priced some stuff out, but a lot of stuff was pretty delayed for delivery. We did not make any decisions. Dinner, and I watched some TV upstairs before bed.
Friday (10,656 steps) - Wash Park! It had been a while and it was good to see everyone. It was very cold and Rocket was struggling, so we did an even shorter walk than usual, which everyone was fine with. Coffee was delicious, like always. Into the office for the first time in over a week, and I was crazy busy, which is actually really nice, as long as it's not too overwhelming. I had messaged Greg earlier in the day to see if he wanted to meet up for a Happy Hour beer, which he did. It was great to see him!
The rest of the night was spent being mad because I got an email that I had been kicked off the Google Nest network - which basically just meant I can't control the thermostat from my phone. I was trying every tutorial trying to figure it out, and NOTHING was matching up with what the steps said and finally Ariel and I gave up on trying to figure it out.
Saturday (11,319 steps) - Did a Peloton ride, then sat around for a bit in the morning, icing my shin that STILL hurts. I've never had pain in that spot and it's definitely frustrating.
Went for a walk at lunch. In the afternoon I went to look at more furniture options. I ended up really liking a table/chair set AND a bedroom set. I wasn't initially planning on getting anything quite this soon, but they were going to be able to deliver really soon, I figured it was better to get it now than to end up being without stuff. Later in the evening Ariel and I ran some more errands. No idea what else happened.
Sunday (10,072 steps) - May have actually "slept in" a bit. Since Ariel was at work, I REALLY needed to get to work Pierre! Spoiler - Batman is NOT a big help while I am doing this.
It isn't perfect, but I made a LOT of progress!!!
I also finally got around to making more mini quiche! I haven't made these in a long time, and I forget how fast it is to make these and how nice it is to take them to work for breakfast.
Went for a walk at lunch and noticed a new bench!
Did some stuff around the house, including ripping out some of the built in shelving in the bedroom and getting stuff moved around for the furniture delivery later in the week. Headed down to Old Town to New Image to meet up with Tyler, Terri, Jeramiah, Doug and Kristin to celebrate Javelina and Cowboy. It's been a long time since we've gotten together like that - it was fun!
Headed home for dinner and TV. Jeramiah came over for a bit to chat about some stuff. In bed relatively early.
Monday (7,892 steps) - HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY TO ARIEL!!!!!!!!! I posted this picture on social media because it was the first time she ever had pancakes and she looks SO happy - and to this day, she loves pancakes and STILL is really happy when she eats them.
As an "almost" adult, she was excited to get a new Hydroflask. Haha.
On my lunch break I did a Peloton ride and went for a short walk. Since I was working from home and used all my breaks to work on the rest of Pierre!! I only had one wing left, which didn't take long.
Then onto the party hat, which wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be.
And finally - the cake!! Everything turned out SO WELL. Not perfect, by any stretch, but I thought I was pretty unteachable, and these turned out pretty great.
Even MORE great was Ariel genuinely liking that I made them for her. (Or at least, she faked it well). We had plans to set "Smile" and had to rush a bit to get out the door. We stopped at King Soopers to pick up cake for later, then went to Panda Express for dinner. They were SUPER busy and we had to eat pretty fast to get to the movie on time. The movie was GOOD. I don't normally scare/jump easily and this had me doing both. We liked it! Quickly had cake at home, and since it was late, in bed soon after.

Week in Review (March 1 - March 7)

Tuesday (10,387 steps) - Got up early and did strength training before heading into the office for work. It was actually really nice out, so I went for a walk at lunch. Basically right after I got off work I headed over to the school for an orchestra concert.
She wanted to stick around for band, so it was a relatively late evening. Did a yoga video when I got home.
Wednesday (24,529 steps) - Work in the office. I was pretty excited to go to Green Mountain after work because it was going to be warm enough to run in BARE ARMS. Of course I ended up getting stuck in some awful traffic on the way there and by the time I got there I only got to the top once before needing to put on my jacket (that I thankfully threw in my pack at the last minute). Coach wanted me to get in 3,000' of vert, and for some reason I thought that would be around 7.5 miles. I was mildly annoyed when it was over 9 and I didn't get off the mountain until after 8. Sigh.

Thursday (7,965 steps) - Work from home. Did a full body strength video and took Pika for a walk. Went to Torchy's for a beer and to get take out.
Friday (15,115 steps) - Wash Park and coffee with the gang. As I was getting ready to leave - Ben showed up! He was in the area for work and saw my car so he stopped in. Fun surprise! Upon getting to work I realized my main attorney had already started her vacation, so I headed home at lunch to walk Pika and worked the rest of the day from home. Started pulling out all my crap that I need to get packed for the next race. Ugh. It always seems so overwhelming to pack for out of state events.
Saturday (50,666 steps) - Woke up a bit earlier than I thought I might. A had her track-a-thon in the morning and Ben attended and took pictures since I had my long run to do. This is the first time I've seen her run in a jacket and a hat in a long time.

I had mapped out a few options for a long run - with most of them heading out towards Standley Lake first so I could hit up the bathroom at the trail head before continuing on. Decided on the "sketchiest" of the routes (yes, I knew it wasn't going to be great even when I mapped it out). I had 5 hours on schedule, and estimated I'd be able to meet up with Ben at Woods Boss sometime around 2:00 pm. When I had been getting ready it just looked cold out, it wasn't doing anything else. Basically as soon as I got off the street the light, freezing rain started. I had initially started in a Smartwool top and vest, but within a few miles I was already soaked through and getting colder. Thankfully, I had packed a variety of layers. Three miles in I swapped out the vest for my Salomon rain jacket, which I would end up keeping on the rest of the day. Headed down on Little Dry Creek and it was cold, cold, cold. I saw this spray painted on the sidewalk and thought I'd never seen more applicable graffiti. I even sent it to Ben, haha.
By the time I got to Sheridan, I knew I was entering the "not so desirable" part of the trail system. There were lots of places where there were homeless people with tents set up. Dogs tied to broken down campers. And I've never seen SO.MUCH.LITTER.AND.GARBAGE. in my life. Thankfully, I never actually felt unsafe, but man, this was probably the most visually displeasing run I've ever done.
From a distance, that tree looks like it is waving! Actually, it's a statue, so I wasn't wrong
The construction that had been going on for years at Twin Lakes was finally completed, and it was probably the nicest section for many miles. That was also the only other guaranteed bathroom on my route, but I didn't need to stop. The rest of the run was just ensuring I made my handful of correct turns- I was glad to have put the route on my watch since the closer I got to Denver, none of the intersections were marked. The only pictures I took were of the street art/graffiti.

Bridge leaving Clear Creek heading to the Platte River

In addition to not being a visually nice route, it also REALLY smelled. Seriously, I never need to run these paths ever again.

The area around Globeville and Rino was definitely the worst. There were way more unsavory people wandering around, fires on the side of the trail, trash, and dead animals. So disgusting. Finally when I got closer to the city I was on the trails that I actually run/walk a lot during work (more so in the summer) and I knew I was getting close. I couldn't quite remember the intersection for the brewery, so I pulled out my map and had to get off in a weird place - but I like the street art. From there I had only a little over a mile left!

Blue bear at the Convention Center
From here, I had 8-9 block to go, but I had to wait at almost every single intersection. FINALLY got there, and the timing was perfect, as Ben had just arrived. Thankfully, he had brought me a towel to dry off and a change of clothes. I was freezing.
Greg met us for a beer and for fun, Ben bought me a buckle from the brewery to commemorate my obnoxious run, haha. We stopped at Odyssey on the way home - I got a special beer that came with a cookie and it was delicious.
Stopped at Costco on the way home to pick up dinner.
Sunday (8,990 steps) - Ben's long run day, and since I had to go to Boulder for a Runners Roost team meeting, I suggested that he go with me and run home. He had even worse weather, I think. It was in the low 20's and snowing, and he said that most of the bike path wasn't plowed and that there was inches of snow. Anyway. The meeting went well and I was able to get this years team gear. Ariel had also come with me so that she could get some spikes. I also bribed her with breakfast at the Walnut Cafe, which was delicious.
Ariel and I took Pika for a walk, and I'm pretty sure she was the only one that enjoyed it.
Did an hour long Peloton ride. Nothing else?
Monday (8,121 steps) - Work from home. Took Pika for a walk at lunch and did an easy Peloton ride.
