Week in Review (May 31 - June 6)

Tuesday - Morning workout - Peloton ride, HIIT cardio, barre, upper body strength, core and lower body stretching. Woooof.
Ben picked me up and we went for a quick beer.
Went for a walk at lunch. Headed up north to finish my paperwork so I can start my second job soon.
Wednesday - Peloton ride before going into work. Went for a walk at work. After work I headed over to Bruz for a special event with On for National Running Day. A and her friend met me there. I demoed shoes, but was not crazy about them - they hurt my pinky to a bit. I had every intention of running "easy" but just trying to keep up with A had me running way faster than usual.
Got a 5k done and I actually did know where we were - I ran this section on my long run to Woods Boss months ago, not to mention the lake we ran around used to be where the RMRR January trophy series run was. Anyway.
We got a few drink tickets, and a new beer for me, since I had never been to this brewery before. It was ok, but nothing I need to go out of my way for.
Thursday - Peloton ride to start the day. Worked all day and then headed to Dino Ridge for my miles. Still feeling pretty fatigued overall, and with this being a peak week, just overall tired. I did extend my run intervals on the east side, which I was pretty proud of. Oh, and a new dinosaur!

Friday - Wash Park and coffee with the gang for the first time in a few weeks since being sick. It was really good to see everyone again! Worked all day, went for a walk at lunch. Then headed to my first day of work at the new job. It wasn't really what I expected and it was the most disorganized and chaotic place I think I've ever been. No longer wondering why this place has high turnover... we will see how it goes.
Saturday - Didn't get up crazy early, although I probably should have gotten up a BIT earlier, as it was already pretty hot by the time I headed out. I had 20 miles on schedule for my last long run, and it was brutal from start to finish. Usually I feel like it goes ok for at least the first half, but this was a struggle the whole time.

I was so hot and my legs just had no interest in running. I bet I walked at least half of this run. And when I got about 16 miles in I was almost out of water so I actually stopped and bought more. I basically slammed an entire liter and then had to walk a bunch because I wasn't feeling great. This was definitely a mental struggle, but got it done.
Spent the evening catching up on "This is Us."
Sunday - Slept in! Peloton ride, took A to work, and then took Pika to see the goats. Even though we only walked about a mile she was super slow and uninterested in being out. She hates when it's warm!

I had just finished eating lunch when I got a text from Kristin asking if I wanted to meet at 4 Noses. Yes, please!! It was really good to see her and the family, as well as Alison joining.
A was spending the night at a friends house, so it was a late night of beer and finishing up "This is Us" - what a freaking sad last few episodes, sheesh.
Monday - Up early for miles at "marathon pace." I actually felt really good in most of this run (other than having to use the bathroom AGAIN.
Heart rate looks like it is getting back to "normal"
Got back home with just enough time to log in for work. In more exciting news than work, I'm back for another year with Rabbit!
Took Pika for a walk at lunch. She is soooo slow when it warms up outside, so we did the shorter loop because she was completely uninterested in being out. But look how cute she is!
After work I relaxed for a few minutes before heading to job #2. Don't know how long this is going to last, this place is soooo disorganized, and it's not actually busy enough for me to do make "real" money. Not that I'm above cleaning, but at this point in my life I'm not sure I need to be cleaning bathrooms for some extra cash. We'll see. Dinner at home and a bit of down time before bed.

Stats:
  • 37.87 miles run
  • 115 minutes of cardio
  • 55 minutes of strength training

Week in Review (June 6 - June 12)

Tuesday (13,772 steps) - Barre.
Wednesday (17,476 steps) - Got out of work about 15 minutes later than planned and promptly ended up in the worst traffic ever, thanks to the Metallica concert and an afternoon Rockies game. A and I were about a half hour late to run club. We went out for a super short (and slow) run - it WAS National Running Day after all!
I was really looking forward to another Trail Sisters event and elite female panel. The event went a lot longer than it was supposed to (although it usually does) and I won another grand prize!! I will be collecting another pair of New Balance trail shoes! So exciting. It was after 10 before we got home.

Junko and A
Winner, again!
Thursday (18,815 steps) - Barre. I struggled more than I did on Tuesday. Seems like recovery from the Dirty 30 will take a while. I could barely get through this one and had to take way more breaks than I usually do. Belmar run club! Did another run/walk with Mo (about a mile of walking, 1.5 miles of running). Went out with the group to Rocko's for food after.
Friday (14,447 steps) - Nothing, other than having dinner on the patio!
Saturday (43,136 steps) - East-West half marathon (recap to follow).
After showering we vegged for a bit before going to out to dinner and then on to the NKOTB concert! Since I work downtown, we opted to save $25 and walk the mile from my lot to the Pepsi Center, using the money to buy a shirt from a scalper for A. Boyz II Men opened and they were really good (and did some random Lenny Kravitz cover songs), Paula Abdul was a no-show and the Kids were fantastic. We had an absolute blast!
We didn't get out until after 10:30, and with our 20 minute walk to the car it was almost midnight before we got home. Worth it!
Sunday (15,898) - 5 am came very early!! We met up with Maureen in Lakewood and then drove up the canyon to volunteer at the Roost aid station for Revel. We were stationed at mile 19 of the marathon and got to see lots of people we knew.

This race had the most organized aid station pick up I've ever seen. The marathon has a very tight 5:40 cutoff and to keep on pace they said that we would be done at 10:15. Not kidding, moving vans were throwing the tables in the trucks at 10:15 on the dot. We drove down to the finish line, getting some pizza and pie. There was no beer left (sad face), so a few of us went to the Holliday Inn in Morrison for a beer.

Around 2:15 A and I headed up to Boulder for our second volunteering gig of the day - Ironman Boulder. We have volunteered at this event every year and it's actually one of my favorites. We found street parking pretty close and then went to the info tent to say hi to Jeannene before going to our aid station. Apparently since we were last at the run aid station 5, it had moved down the path and we had to move quickly to get there by 4:00. It was a very well run aid station - A handed out cups of ice and I handed out water.

We were at our post until 8, at which point we headed back to the info tent to say goodbye to Jeannene. On our way home we stopped at the Cheesecake Factory. We had gotten enough free food at the race that I didn't have to make dinner. In bed pretty early as we were exhausted from the weekend.
Monday (13,709) - A had ENOR camp again, which was messing with my schedule. Drop off was 7:30 and they would not check her in a minute before that. I picked her up as late as possible after I got off work and then we had to go to State Farm so I could turn over the title for salvage. Sad that it was going to be our last day with Bee Rad!
A and I had tickets for a free movie at Alamo Drafthouse, so we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - and it was fantastic! Such a good movie! Went home, took Bee Rad's plates off (sad face).

Stats:
  • 137,253 steps
  • 16.9 miles run
  • 2 barre classes

Week in Review (May 31 - June 6)

Tuesday (14,020 steps) - Did NOT get up early. Was incredibly exhausted after the holiday weekend. After work did a quick/speedy run at the lake, a barre video AND an abs video.
Wednesday (16,110 steps) - Upper body video in the morning - I really like this one! National/Global running day at Runner's Roost with Maureen. We made a giant thank you card/poster for Coohill's - the restaurant that hosted us a while back - I loved what A drew.
We went out to Garbanzo's for dinner with Maureen.
Thursday (20,709 steps) - 4ish mile run in the morning. Already so hot and sunny. Not a particularly great run. A had gymnastics, Tokyo Joe's, and I did an abs video.
Friday (17,961 steps) - Quick pilates video. Did a short run by the lake - mainly to test out a new section of trail that is finally completed. Seems like it will be a good addition to my lake runs, sometime soon I need to figure out what's on the north and west sides of the lake!
Saturday (21,648 steps) - Up early to go down to Denver for the Heat & Stroke walk. We met up with Maureen and a few other Roost teammates.
Maureen and Colfax, Laurie, Chris, A and me
Maureen was running the 5k so we offered to walk with Colfax. The run started before the walk and Maureen's plan was to run back to meet us on the course. Somehow we totally missed each other. We also ran into our friends Jessie and Nonnie and their kids. Nonnie's daughter Sara had open heart surgery shortly after birth - so they were walking for team "Super Sara."
After we were all done we had brunch at the Tilted Kilt, stopped at the Cheesecake Factory for a slice of chocolate mousse (you know, because we were "right there") and walked around the Denver Chalk Art Festival for a bit.
Long morning! Watched a bit of tv and dozed off on the couch, went grocery shopping. In bed early-ish.
Sunday (31,291 steps) - Left the house by 6:15 to drive to Littleton for the East/West trail races. Recap to posted soon.
We stuck around until all the runners had crossed the finish line, then A and I went to Snooze in Lone Tree for breakfast. I tried the sticky toffee pudding french toast and had a brewmosa (exactly like what it sounds - a craft beer with OJ - tasty!)

The remainder of the day was on the couch. The sun really makes me tired!
Monday (15,518 steps) - Slept in. Had a crazy rain/hailstorm in the afternoon. A few miles in the basement inferno and a lower body video that I really like.

Stats:
  • 137,256 steps
  • 26.9 miles run
  • No real cross training, other than a 5k walk (really, we didn't run!) for the Heart & Stroke walk.
  • 129 minutes of strength/stretching
  • Weekly Loss 2.2 pounds (127.4) - I'm guessing at least some of this was "vacation" weight and water weight. Was much more conscious about food this week, trying not to be out of control.
Everything Else:
  • #noteatingallthethings - sort of a successful week.
  • A started a week at gymnastics camp this week. She has a pretty busy summer planned!

#NotEatingAllTheThings (Week 6)

Week 1 Recap Here
Week 2 Recap Here
Week 3 Recap Here
Week 4 Recap Here
Week 5 Recap Here

Finally having a loss last week made me hate "the game" a tiny bit less. Just a tiny bit. I was hoping for a loss this week, but I figured one thing was going to stand in my way. I had a RIDICULOUS amount of beer this week. Food was pretty much in check the entire time.

Tuesday - Short bike ride with A around the neighborhood.
Wednesday - 2 horrible slow miles on basement treadmill for "National Running Day." That night I went out for drinks with co-workers.
Thursday - Turbo kickboxing.
Friday - Nada, but A had a sleepover and I went out and had MORE beer.
Saturday - Another short bike ride with A.
Sunday - Skirt Sports half marathon and then an hour of roller skating with A.
Monday - Chaos. The trainer announced that class would be ending in the next couple of months because it "takes too much time" and is "not profitable." They claim they will be adding something like chaos, BUT IT WILL COST AN ADDITIONAL $200 A MONTH. ARE THEY FUCKING CRAZY?????? Related: Researching a new gym. Must be close, have classes and inexpensive daycare. Womp.

Soooo. Running is still practically non-existent. And so is working out for the most part. So again, I am reminded that it is VERY important to consider what I put in my mouth as I'm doing practically no exercise right now.
Sorry for the blurry me, A still struggles with focusing the camera
Weekly Loss - 1.0 pounds
Loss since April 30 - 9.2 pounds

So, even with my excessive beer consumption, I still was able to have a modest loss. The only "splurge" foods this weekend were pizza on Saturday night and Smashburger after my race on Sunday. Now that I am typing this, I remember that we had a birthday in the office and there was some pineapple upside-down cheesecake in the office most of the week. I had small amounts every day.... starting Tuesday.
  • Last week, I said I was hesitant to say that I "felt less hungry." However, a week later, I feel the same way. So maybe it just takes a month or so for the ravenous appetite to go away? Or maybe it is just that I am exercising WAY less and so I am less hungry? Don't know.
  • I love love love salads. I only had a few of them last week since I'm having a bit of financial issues, I have to be careful with my spending right now, but I can usually get one from the salad bar at the grocery store for about $4.
  • Beer consumption this week was OUT OF CONTROL. I will not be consuming nearly the level I did last week, so hopefully that will assist in another loss? A few more pounds to go and I will re-evaluate "the game."
  • I don't really "miss" cupcakes. What.

Week in Review (September 2 - September 8)

Tuesday  (10,702 steps) - Walked Olive before going to work in the morning. Gym at lunch - Peloton ride and a half hour on the treadmill at ...
