Week in Review (September 27 - October 3)

Tuesday (19,694 steps) - Work in the office and a decent run at Stone House for Green Mountain run club.
Wednesday (17,630 steps) - Work in the office and headed to the south side of Standley Lake for different hill repeats.
This hill is much steeper than it looks

I. Love. Fall.
Thursday (16,340 steps) - Work from home. Ben was working out of town and called to say he was going to be bringing Pika to urgent care. I did my run during an early lunch since I wasn't sure when I needed to meet him there.
I don't want to go into a ton of detail, but by the time we spoke to the vet and went over bloodwork, we were told she was in acute kidney failure. We certainly weren't expecting to be going through this and didn't have much time to get a hold of Ariel to meet us at the hospital to say goodbye. Not at all how any of us thought the day would end. We will sure miss our furry friend :( :(
Ben and I ended up going to 4 Noses for a bit.
Friday (7,392 steps) - Skipped my morning run at Wash Park but still had to go to work. Work in the office. Ben met me for lunch and we went to Campfire again. Their food is so delicious!
Don't remember what else, although Ben and I did go to 4 Noses again.
Saturday (25,999 steps) - Met Paula and Erica in Golden to head up to Frisco for a hike! We had plans to do lower Eccles to see the fall colors. The forecast didn't look promising, but it ended up being a beautiful day.
I managed to be ok with a Pika lookalike sitting on my lap the whole drive

Me and Paula

We had plans to stop in town to get lunch before going home. Unfortunately, there was a major accident at the tunnel and we got stuck in some horrendous traffic going over the pass, where it was SNOWING.
THEN, I still had an hour long run to do, and I chose the canal trail near North Table for something different. It was not a great run. I had to take a ton of walk breaks because my heart rate was getting too high.
Qdoba for dinner. Nothing else?
Sunday (15,734 steps) - Drove up to Heather's house because we planned a hike in Golden Gate park. The weather did not cooperate - it was raining when we arrived and there was no parking. We drove around a bit and then just went back to her house and talked for a bit.
Can you believe this is her backyard??
I still had a short run to do when I got home, but I just ran on the south side of the lake. It wasn't bad. Ben and I went out for a very late lunch (early dinner?).
Ben and I went on a "Pika" walk to the lake. It was a pretty night.
Watched a movie.
Monday
(12,439 steps) - Work from home. Went for a walk at lunch, which was pretty depressing because it was the same route I used to walk daily with Pika. Spent most of the day packing and organizing. Ben and I went for a walk in the rain after he got home from work and we had enchiladas for dinner. Since it's October 3, we of course watched Mean Girls.

Stats:
  • 115,228 steps
  • 23.59 miles run
  • 0 minutes of cardio
  • 0 minutes of strength training (but did hike for a few hours?)

Week in Review (May 31 - June 6)

Tuesday - Morning workout - Peloton ride, HIIT cardio, barre, upper body strength, core and lower body stretching. Woooof.
Ben picked me up and we went for a quick beer.
Went for a walk at lunch. Headed up north to finish my paperwork so I can start my second job soon.
Wednesday - Peloton ride before going into work. Went for a walk at work. After work I headed over to Bruz for a special event with On for National Running Day. A and her friend met me there. I demoed shoes, but was not crazy about them - they hurt my pinky to a bit. I had every intention of running "easy" but just trying to keep up with A had me running way faster than usual.
Got a 5k done and I actually did know where we were - I ran this section on my long run to Woods Boss months ago, not to mention the lake we ran around used to be where the RMRR January trophy series run was. Anyway.
We got a few drink tickets, and a new beer for me, since I had never been to this brewery before. It was ok, but nothing I need to go out of my way for.
Thursday - Peloton ride to start the day. Worked all day and then headed to Dino Ridge for my miles. Still feeling pretty fatigued overall, and with this being a peak week, just overall tired. I did extend my run intervals on the east side, which I was pretty proud of. Oh, and a new dinosaur!

Friday - Wash Park and coffee with the gang for the first time in a few weeks since being sick. It was really good to see everyone again! Worked all day, went for a walk at lunch. Then headed to my first day of work at the new job. It wasn't really what I expected and it was the most disorganized and chaotic place I think I've ever been. No longer wondering why this place has high turnover... we will see how it goes.
Saturday - Didn't get up crazy early, although I probably should have gotten up a BIT earlier, as it was already pretty hot by the time I headed out. I had 20 miles on schedule for my last long run, and it was brutal from start to finish. Usually I feel like it goes ok for at least the first half, but this was a struggle the whole time.

I was so hot and my legs just had no interest in running. I bet I walked at least half of this run. And when I got about 16 miles in I was almost out of water so I actually stopped and bought more. I basically slammed an entire liter and then had to walk a bunch because I wasn't feeling great. This was definitely a mental struggle, but got it done.
Spent the evening catching up on "This is Us."
Sunday - Slept in! Peloton ride, took A to work, and then took Pika to see the goats. Even though we only walked about a mile she was super slow and uninterested in being out. She hates when it's warm!

I had just finished eating lunch when I got a text from Kristin asking if I wanted to meet at 4 Noses. Yes, please!! It was really good to see her and the family, as well as Alison joining.
A was spending the night at a friends house, so it was a late night of beer and finishing up "This is Us" - what a freaking sad last few episodes, sheesh.
Monday - Up early for miles at "marathon pace." I actually felt really good in most of this run (other than having to use the bathroom AGAIN.
Heart rate looks like it is getting back to "normal"
Got back home with just enough time to log in for work. In more exciting news than work, I'm back for another year with Rabbit!
Took Pika for a walk at lunch. She is soooo slow when it warms up outside, so we did the shorter loop because she was completely uninterested in being out. But look how cute she is!
After work I relaxed for a few minutes before heading to job #2. Don't know how long this is going to last, this place is soooo disorganized, and it's not actually busy enough for me to do make "real" money. Not that I'm above cleaning, but at this point in my life I'm not sure I need to be cleaning bathrooms for some extra cash. We'll see. Dinner at home and a bit of down time before bed.

Stats:
  • 37.87 miles run
  • 115 minutes of cardio
  • 55 minutes of strength training

Week in Review (July 30 - August 5)

Tuesday (12,502 steps) - Strength class during lunch. Skipped Milk Market to go to Heather's house for Taco Tuesday.
Matt and the family were visiting from Florida - we had a great time socializing and roasting marshmallows. Also was nice to get out of the Denver heat for a bit.

Also, a cool surprise was a "Squirrel Girl" bobble head from my friend Dan. I've had that nickname since high school, and apparently it is now a Marvel character/collectible.
Wednesday (19,415 steps)  - Core class during lunch. Runners Roost Boulder! We were running late and had to meet people at the trail head (which is what we planned anyway). Difficult run up NCAR, but surprised myself by running a bit faster than usual.

Thursday (12,282 steps) - LONGEST.DAY.EVER. Got to work early, worked through lunch, worked late. I had called the hotel to make sure they had me down for a late checkout, only to find out that if I arrived after 2 am they would not be able to check me in? Even though they have a 24 hour front desk? Ugh. Then sometime after everyone left for the day I looked and my already very late flight was delayed a half  hour and ETA into St. Louis was 1:55 pm. Magically, I was able to switch to the earlier flight, but that meant I had to leave RIGHT THEN to get to the airport on time. I got there in plenty of time and went to Root Down for a beer before boarding.
Flight was still delayed, but I did get there an hour or so earlier than I had planned. By now, after midnight.
Friday (48,403 steps) - The line for the rental car was pretty insane, but I was able to get my Nissan with very few problems. It was only a 15-20 minute drive to the hotel, which I found with no problems. It was also one of the top three sketchiest places I have ever stayed. First off, it was like there was a block party in the lobby. Guys eating and watching TV at volume a million and there was no one behind the desk. Guy finally shows up. He seems nice enough, but already sensing issues. Like I have to make an additional $20 deposit because their key-maker isn't working? Whut. Finally it's about 1:30 and I'm walking to my room. "Thankfully," the hallways were darkish as it was FILTHY. My room was no better. Quick rundown - floor probably hadn't been vacuumed in months. The window and TV were covered in something that was leaving stains. The bathroom floor was sticky (change was glued to the floor). Used soap in the shower and on the counter. TRASH HAD NOT BEEN EMPTIED. Pretty sure I was going to get bedbugs or murdered. So gross. (Really wish I'd taken pictures, but I kinda want to forget this experience ever happened).

Interestingly, I actually got some sleep (trying not to think about the incredibly stained pillows and hoping at least the sheets were clean). I was awoken by incessant knocking on the door around 8 am. Thinking it was housekeeping, I told them to go away. Knocking continues. Irritated because there was no door hanger to put out saying "do not disturb" I finally got up. (Mind you, I had planned on sleeping until 10). It was a man who was raving about "things hanging from  my window. Whut. I have no idea what is happening. I tell him WTF I checked in after one in the morning, you need to leave. (I did check and saw nothing outside my window). Tried to go back to sleep, failed. Finally took a shower and got the eff out of there. Interestingly, when I checked out - the same guy was there that had been knocking. No name tag and had not identified himself as staff. I mentioned it was one of the most disgusting places I had ever stayed and I was NOT happy about my early wake up call. He seemed uninterested in my complaints. (FYI, avoid Super 8 in Bridgeton/St. Louis at ALL costs).
With now HOURS to kill, I decided to head into the city and wander around downtown. I hadn't been to St. Louis since I was there to run the Rock n' Roll in 2011, and I remember traffic/construction irritating me back then. Really hadn't improved. Struggled to find street parking, then walked around, got some pictures of the arch and had lunch.

Finally I decided I would just head to the race start, thinking maybe I would be able to take a nap in the car. Spoiler, it's a million degrees, so no, a nap didn't happen.
The Shippey 100K.
Saturday (82,125 steps) - Continuation of The Shippey 100K.
Prior to travel, I had looked to see where the breweries were closest to the airport. The one I really wanted to go to didn't open until two, so I went to the other one. I decided to close my eyes for a minute, and next thing I knew, Ben was calling. I had passed out for about 45 minutes, which I meant I just headed right to the one I initially wanted to go to. Had two beers and some popcorn at Six Mile before going to the airport.
I had managed to switch my flight to an earlier one. It was also delayed, but I was so tired that I ended up falling asleep on the plane. Woke up with about an hour left of the flight. Landed only a bit late. Took FOREVER to get back to the lot to get Lucy. Ugh. Home by 9ish. Ben had come down and bought pizza and beer, but he had fallen asleep waiting for me (he had to work the 3 am shift, so it was understandable). I went to bed shortly after eating. LONG DAY.
Sunday (10.849 steps) - Slept until almost 10. After having coffee, we decided to take Pika for a walk to the lake (and for once, we got Ariel to go with us).

Snacked on pizza, and then Ben and I went to 4 Noses.
Picked up Torchy's on the way home. I think that was it? Pretty low-key day.
Monday (14,972 steps) - Blah work. Met Ben (and Tyler) at North Table. They were doing the big loop, and I was planning on staying on the canal trail and walking with Pika.
Had street tacos from the food truck and beer.

Stats:
