Week in Review (September 3 - September 9)

Tuesday (10,267 steps) - Bonus work from home day since Joyce is on vacation.  Treated myself ot a delicious Dunkin coffee.
Walk with Olive at lunch.
Wednesday (10,217 steps) - Work from home bonus day again. Took Olive for a walk at lunch.
Saw an owl again.
Thursday (10,323 steps) - Work from hoooooome again. My impulse buy from an Instagram ad (heated hair straightening brush) arrived early so I straightened my hair (in 12.5 minutes!!) before meeting Ariel for coffee.
Long walk with Olive at lunch. I think we went to Torchy's for dinner?
Friday (14,337 steps) - Wash Park with Olive and the gang. When we got to Wash Park, Olive seemed to have developed a slight limp, I chalked it up to some of the rocky sections on the north side bothering her feet. By the time we got about halfway through the workday, her limp was way worse and I spent about 45 minutes calling every vet in town until I found one that had an opening and got her in. She didn't see anything or think anything was broken and gave her some anti-inflammatory pills.
Happy hour at 4 Noses and we randomly ordered from a new to us food truck - Norwegian food (?) that was really delicious.
Saturday (15,154 steps) - Probably stayed in bed too long before going to South Table for our run. It was definitely sunny and warm, but we didn't have plans to be out too long.

Initially we were going to do our "normal" loop, but then I figured we could run on the Lava Loop if it was actually open, cutting off a bit of our distance. It WAS open, and we happened to run into Victor and Brook. We ended up stopping at Parry's on the way home for lunch.
No dog walk today, trying to make sure Olive's paw is ok. Olive had her grooming appointment, which meant we were at 4 Noses again.
Ben ordered us Qdoba for dinner, yum!
Sunday (12,614 steps) - Special day! We drove down to Wash Park for Olive's photo shoot! She got invited to be in the calendar for the rescue group I adopted her from. She did REALLY good for them, and it was perfect timing that her grooming was the day before!
On the way home we stopped at the Brunch Run (being held at Wonderyard) for a walk with friends.

The unfortunately didn't even allow dogs on their patio, so we headed out right after. I had to run to REI to exchange a pair of pants, which ended up taking forever. Then we went up to Recess for brunch on their dog friendly patio. Mo met us there with Colfax. Headed home to rest and change before Kristin picked me up to go to the Cheap Trick/Journey/Def Leppard concert at Coors Field! We met up with the rest of the group at a hold in the wall bar on Park and Blake (that was slow and terrible food) before walking over. Cheap Trick was pretty good, but I was never really into them.
Journey was AWESOME and I'm really glad I got to see them. I can't believe they have been a band for FIFTY YEARS?!

I had seen Def Leppard before, but wow, their performance here was NOT good. The singer wasn't great and the sound/lights was terrible. Kristin and I gave them about 45 minutes before deciding we would rather just go home early. Still was after 11!
Monday (21,017 steps) - Work from home. Went for my run relatively early, trying to beat the heat. For some reason, I opted to run to the north side of the lake. I always hate running that direction, yet did it anyway. I didn't enjoy it.
Took Olive for a walk at lunch. Her paw is definitely better, thankfully.
Did some driving after work and picked up grocery orders at both Target and King Soopers. Dinner was at Torchy's since Ben got off work really late.

Stats:
  • 93,929 steps
  • 11.44 miles run

Week in Review (August 15 - August 21)

Tuesday (10,939 steps) - Peloton ride before work in the office. Cross training at lunch. Walk with Olive when it got cooler, but otherwise, no recollection of the day.
Wednesday (16,358 steps) - Work in the office. It was a hot day, but I had a hike on schedule, so I planned on putting my Boulder park pass to use and went to South Mesa. It started to rain on the drive, but it was dry (although humid) when I started.
I was really trying hard to just hike, and not get into the running, so I was just doing a fast pace. I didn't encounter anyone until I was almost a mile up. There were two older guys and I commented that hopefully we would miss the storm since it was thundering quite a bit. They said "we will be fine" and then about 5 minutes later it started POURING. It only lasted for maybe 10 minutes, but I got drenched and the temperature dropped significantly.
Pretty sure I have never seen it so green this late in the year up here!
I was thinking the route I picked was going to be longer than what it was, but I was happy with getting this done as "quick" as I did.

Quick stop by Runners Roost after I finished because I knew Rabbit was going to be there. It was a ZOO! They were also doing a Leadville event and there were a million people there. I got a free drawstring Rabbit bag before heading out. I agreed to meet up with Ben for one beer at 4 Noses before going home to re-create A's first day of school pictures! We tried to do some outside but the lighting was weird, so they are inside. I can't believe she is a senior this year!

Thursday (17,661 steps) - Up early to do a run before work since it was supposed to be a million degrees. Run wasn't bad! And then, work... in the office. Joyce needed witnesses for an early morning signing and apparently EVERYONE (including me) works remote on Thursdays. Sigh. I did end up being pretty busy all day. I've been going down the rabbit hole of wanting to get a new phone. I've only had mine since March 2022, but ever since I fell in the river at Fat Dog my phone has been having issues charging. I finally stopped by Xfinity to see what my phone options were and didn't like any of the ones that they had in stock, so I went to the Apple store. I was really surprised that they were going to be able to give me so much money for my phone! With that said, I hadn't really been planning on getting rid of my phone, and I definitely need A to put my screen protector and case on before using it. I had to email Ben since they wiped my phone before I was able to get a text out. We met at Parry's for a beer and an appetizer. By the phone I got everything ready and activated my new phone it was bedtime. Weird being without one for so long, and the worst part was having to listen to the RADIO in the car. Boo hiss.
Friday (12,909 steps) - Yay random work from home day!!! Took Olive for a few walks. Did grocery shopping at both the grocery store and Costco. A needed some hair bows for cross country and I went to a few stores looking for what she needed before I gave up and I met up with Ben for happy hour. Nothing else?
Saturday (22,142 steps) - I had 6 miles on schedule, and Ben and I planned to run together. It was supposed to be REALLY hot, so we needed to go early. I agreed to an 8:30 start, but man oh man, was it miserable. Run felt REALLY hard, so I have given myself another beer fast for a bit to recover. We headed to Ziggi's (for the first time!) and thought we were going to get coffee, but saw they had smoothies and got one of those instead. It was delicious!!
Took Olive for a walk when I got home. she ended up rolling in some stuff and got briars in her tail, so I had to give her another bath. She was not especially amused.
Ben got us tickets to see a movie and we went to Torchy's first for a queso appetizer. We headed to Alamo for a screening of "The Last Voyage of the Demeter." I was really surprised he picked this one, since it is way out of his comfort level (he is not a fan of horror movies). It was pretty good though, I liked it.
Sunday (15,804 steps) - Up "early" to go to Stanley Marketplace for Brunch Run. I wasn't planning on running, it was a rest day, but I wanted to go somewhere different. I was the only one walking, so Olive and I did our own thing. It was already REALLY hot by the time we were finishing up.
But look at how cute and photogenic she is!
Got a coffee and chocolate croissant and spent some time with Lisa and Joanna before I decided to head home for the day. A was working, so I stopped in for some queso and a taco for lunch. And later, since Ben was going out of town, he sent me some money so I could try out the newest restaurant in the area, Cava. It was pretty good, although I was much hungrier than what I got food-wise.
Monday (16,060 steps) - Work from home. I only had 3 miles on schedule, and it was supposed to get up to 100 degrees, so I did my run before work. Even at 7:15 it was already REALLY hot and I was sweating like a maniac by the time I was done.
Batman likes to trap Olive upstairs
I took Olive for her walk early because of the heat. A met me at Ziggi's and we got some coffee! I liked it, but it literally was so sugary I thought I was going to go into a diabetic coma, haha.
Made dinner and watched some TV. Took Olive for a short walk. This heat is oppressive.

Stats:
  • 111,873 steps
  • 14.27 miles run
  • 30 minutes of cardio (plus a 5+ mile hike)
  • 20 minutes of strength

Week in Review (January 17 - January 23)

Tuesday (12,748 steps) - Stopped at Target on my way TO work to get more bins. I was worried about the weather coming in after I got off. Work in the office. It was actually nice out, so I went for a walk at lunch. Took Olive for a walk after I got home, beating the snow. Then I did a 30 minute Peloton ride and 45 minutes of glutes/legs, core and stretching. Woo.
Wednesday (15,880 steps) - SNOW DAY!!! It was quite lovely not having to get up early. Ariel and I spent a lot of the day (between working) continuing the project of organizing and cleaning up the closets, running gear and the rest of the mud room.
Did you know that being organized reduces stress by like 200%?

I've actually done more cleaning/organizing since this picture was taken
We only left the house to take Olive for a short, snowy walk.

Thursday (24,786 steps) - Work from home. Wooo!!  Finally got around to making more quiches - they aren't even difficult to make, I just get really lazy sometimes :(
I spent about a half hour on chat with King Soopers (which was NOT fun) because they had one item they supposedly could NOT substitute with anything else, which caused my order to go under the delivery threshold. Needless to say, I was annoyed. THEN, I had to do my hill workout (that I hadn't done on Wednesday because of the snow). Greg likes to give me repeats on a hill with 10%+ grade. I didn't want to go all the way to Boulder or the foothills, but I did find a hill in Superior that was "close enough." Most of the run was perfectly fine! I ran well, and most of the repeats were ok as well, EXCEPT towards the top where there was a decent amount of post holing. I don't think I have complained enough about winter yet.

I stopped briefly at the Candela's King Soopers to get a few grocery items and got into an argument with the cashier about eggs ringing up incorrectly. EVERTYHING IS ANNOYING. After work, headed down to Belmar with Olive for run club! There was not a big group this week and Olive was definitely more relaxed. We did C25K with Paula & everyone again, and it was fun! Glad I had brought my spikes, park was icy. Cute pic of Katla & Olive.
Friday (15,400 steps) - Wash Park! Another small group of us, but it was nice enough out.
Worked a short day because A had a tour of the CBI scheduled for early afternoon. I met her and Gracie and her mom. It was really interesting, and Ariel has discovered that she really needs to be in the field, that straight lab work would not be thrilling for her. Good to know! Stopped and picked up groceries. Then it was home to do the workout I should have done on Thursday (weather really messed up my schedule). 30 minutes on the Peloton, 45 minutes of upper body, core and stretching. THEN, took Olive for a walk.
Saturday (42,495 steps) - Headed down to Chatfield for the Far Out 20 Miler. Wayne had sent out an email saying that conditions weren't great, so I planned on wearing spikes. Once I arrived, the parking lot seemed packed down, so I decided on my road shoes and Nano Spikes instead of trail shoes and Exo Spikes. I did NOT know that Chatfield does not plow at ALL, so I chose poorly with HOW MUCH SNOW THERE WAS.
I'm on the far right in the red skirt/black tights
It was not nearly as cold as I feared, but man, the snow was really deep and running was tough. STILL, even in these conditions, I only took two short walk breaks, which is HUGE.

I decided I was not interested in doing the full 20 miles, and hopped on the road for a few miles, hoping that I could at least get miles in that way. Not knowing my way around the park that well I did end up back on the course. There was a 10 mile distance, so when I finished, I told Wayne to just mark me down for a "heavy 10 miler." For the first time in many years, there were still burritos left, which was nice because I was starving - I only ate a package of fruit snacks and some dried apricots on the run. It started snowing on the drive home. Freaking winter.

Ben and I made plans to get dinner together since A was working. We headed to Emilio's, and it was delicious.
Sunday (31,049 steps) - Woke up ridiculously early so I could get my "real" run done. I had some overdue library books, so I made a detour to return them. Multitasking!
I saw the injured coyote that I haven't seen in at least a year on the trail behind the library. He was not interested in me at all. It was a nice sunrise, but chilly. Also, I was glad that I had worn my spikes. The snow/ice is just NOT going away.

I grossly miscalculated my distance, and ended up running about a mile further than what I planned. I got home with enough time to use the bathroom, make a cup of coffee and threw Olive in the car so we could head to the Stanley Marketplace for the brunch run. I ended up run/walking with Pete and Janet, and Olive did REALLY well. Her longest "run" yet at 3 miles!
Most places at Stanley Marketplace don't allow pets, but Logan's, the coffee shop did. Olive was quite content lying on the floor while we had breakfast and coffee.
Took Olive for a walk later in the afternoon. Otherwise, no clue what I did. I believe A brought home queso.
Monday (21,055 steps) - Work from home! I clocked in early because I had my annual gyno appointment (blech). Closer to lunch time I took Olive for a short walk. Then, I had to get my hour run in. I can't figure out why the first couple miles I can keep my HR under 140, but then it suddenly spikes (usually on  downhill, without that much of a faster pace) over 160 and I have a hard time lowering. It does not SEEM like it is that much more work, and I realize that wrist HR is not as accurate. Either way, annoying. Also, still surprised at the amount of deep, chunky snow.
After dinner I did Ariel's taxes. I can't believe she is old enough to have a W-2?! It's crazy.

Stats:
  • 163,413 steps
  • 38.56 miles run
  • 60 minutes of cardio
  • 90 minutes of strength training
