Week in Review (November 16 - November 22)

Tuesday (5,824 steps) - Work in the office. Took Pika for a walk after getting home. She hasn't been feeling well so she needs to go outside more often. :( Also... I'm already over how dark it is at 5:00 pm.
Wednesday (11,811 steps) - Work in the office. After work I headed up to Boulder. Initially, I had planned to just go for a walk, but after I realized how cold it was I decided to just do a short run. Part of the bike path was closed for construction, so it ended up being a solo choose your own adventure route. Actually pretty enjoyable, though.
The store was doing their VIP sale/party, and I picked up a few things before heading home for dinner.
Thursday (10,234 steps) - Work from home, and it was a CRAZY busy day. Did a Peloton ride and took Pika for a walk. Then, I had to pick A up from school, take her to the post office to get her passport renewed. Worked a bit more and then had to drive her and a teammate to the airport so they could meet up with their team in Arizona. LONG ASS DAY. On the way home I met Ben at the new Tap n' Burger. Neither of us was even remotely impressed with this place. You now have to pay for street parking in the "new downtown Westminster," they automatically add 20% tip and the food was EXPENSIVE. We won't be back.
Friday (14,401 steps) - Had hopefully my last Friday morning run at Wash Park - I reminded Steph I like to have it as a rest day! 45 minutes that was... not bad.
Did the last 10-15 minutes with the group before going to Stella's for coffee and muffins for Christy's birthday! Work in the office. After work Ben and I decided to use our gift certificate for Malone's. Unlike yesterday, we REALLY enjoyed just about everything about our experience.
Saturday (27,795 steps) - Got up semi-early so that we could figure out how to live stream Ariel's race, the Nike Cross Regionals Southwest! We had major buffering issues, but it was REALLY cool watching her on the big screen. Not to mention, her teammate actually won the heat they were in.

These results are just for her wave. Over 1000 girls ran and a time slower than 22 minutes didn't even get you in the top 500. Insane.
Still needed to get a run in and it was supposed to get windier and colder as the day went on, so we rushed out so we could finish in time to walk Pika. I had mapped out a loop in Boulder that would give us a climb/descent/climb route. Really feeling out of shape since I haven't been concentrating on climbing lately. Run started out pretty warm, but a few miles in things definitely cooled down and I was glad I'd brought a long sleeve.

Decided that we would let Batman join us on the walk. He was meow-y the first bit (when in the neighborhood), but really seemed to enjoy the sun and lake atmosphere.

After showering we met up with Kristin, Doug and Tyler at The Bluegrass (to finally use my gift card from my birthday). Fun afternoon!
Sunday (23,920 steps) - Slept in (as much as I ever do) and then went for my run. I had 8 miles to get done and I created a modified loop around the neighborhood. The one bad part about doing a "road" loop near me is that the end is ALWAYS uphill. I was trying to take it easy, and for the most part, it wasn't bad, although my heart rate still doesn't reflect "easy."

Our walk with Batman had been so successful yesterday, that we opted to take him again! Unfortunately, we did NOT have as much luck this time. He had another "incident" in the backpack, which wasn't especially fun for anyone.

Batman expressing his displeasure with being covered in poop - I'm trying to clean out his pack as much as possible with poop bags. Sigh.
He handled the bath pretty well
I started baking my "famous" pumpkin cheesecakes, since we have plans to do an "early" Thanksgiving. It's really my favorite dessert ever. (And exponentially cheaper than buying one from the Cheesecake Factory - did you know it's over $60 for a 10" cheesecake?! I think it costs me about $12 to make two, but I'm not sure on the diameter).

Ariel invited a friend over and Tyler stopped by to hang out and have a beer. How is the weekend over already.
Monday (11,456 steps) - Work from home. Walk with Ben and Pika at lunch and did a Peloton ride. After I got off work I wrapped some Christmas presents while Ben and Ariel finished making Thanksgiving dinner!

Maybe the best cheesecake I've ever made. AND NEITHER OF THEM CRACKED!!

Stats:
  • 105,441 steps
  • 26.36 miles run

Week in Review (November 17 - November 23)

Tuesday (12,231 steps) - Work from home. Pika walks. The end.
Wednesday (18,159 steps) - Work from home. Denver Roost run club!
Fun night running with Dave, Maureen & Colfax, Paula, John & Maya. Colfax got to try a jogging stroller for part of the run!
Thursday (20,253 steps) - Work from home. Weather was nice, so I was motivated to run during lunch with Pika. Apparently she really only enjoys running if there are other dogs she can compete with. This was a struggle pretty much the entire time.
After work we went to look at a couch. We had every intention of not spending a ton of money, but the one we liked online was small and uncomfortable in person. After pricing it out, we opted to order a different one, although we decided to sleep on it before putting money down.
Friday (14,797 steps) - Work from home. Today the weather was still nice, so I figured Batman could join on the lunch walk. It was all fun and games until Batman pooped in his backpack! The last 10 minutes were not pleasant, and I had to rush him into a bath as soon as I got home. Ugh.

Saturday (23,010 steps) - No recollection of the morning, other than we went ahead and ordered the couch. Oof. But isn't it pretty?
In the afternoon I stole Koda and ran him to Kristin's house to partake in her K50K for her birthday! I was joining for the last two segments. Can't believe how well she was running after she'd already hit a marathon distance! Last few miles Pika joined. It was NOT warm. Socialized for a bit around the firepit with everyone. Fun night!
Sunday (22,665 steps) - Up "early" to run with Belmar friends for a socially distanced turkey trot. I ran with Mo and Pika. Colfax wasn't up for running since he was still recovering from surgery. It felt like an unnecessarily difficult run for the distance, flatness & elevation gain. Womp, womp.

After we finished 5.5ish miles, we took the dogs for an additional walk. Social distanced for a bit with everyone after.
Monday (16,431 steps) - Work from home. A had her annual doctor's appointment, so I only had time to take Pika for a short walk. Quick three mile run after work since it was still relatively warm and it was light enough I didn't need a headlamp. I hate winter.
Stats:
  • 127,546 steps
  • 22.7 miles run
  • No cross training :(

Week in Review (September 29 - October 5)

Tuesday (22,407 steps) - Work in the office. Rough being back to normal life after a magical weekend in the mountains! Went for a walk at lunch, and headed to Green Mountain Brewery after work. They were re-paving the parking lot, so I had to park a few blocks away. The way the lot was blocked off was super annoying. Everything ended in a dead end and people were super angry (including me). Ben and Pika met us there. I ran with Pika, Mo and Colfax for about 4 miles on the trails. A beautiful night!

Ariel talked us into watching the end of the debate, and I think this picture of Batman expresses how we all felt afterward. WTF.
Wednesday (16,217 steps) - Work from home. Took Pika for walks. The end.
Thursday (15,766 steps) - Work in the office. Took Pika for walks.
We finally got our storage unit reserved and started packing up and moving things over. I remember now why I said I would just throw everything away again if I ever moved...
Friday (19,039 steps) - Work from home. Lots of trips to Home Depot today because Ben was doing some repairs. Of course when I saw the Plague Doctor Halloween decoration, I had to have it. (Funny story, we had him sitting in the cart like this and a guy came up to us and said "I thought that was your child!!" - we laughed and laughed...)
Pika walks!
Saturday (30,392 steps) - Up early to pick Kristin up and head to Golden Gate park to run Windy Peak. The drive was nice, and outside of not being able to figure out how to pay for parking until we saw a ranger, it was a lovely day. Alison met us for the run - which was nice because I haven't seen her much this summer and I barely got to talk to her at the wedding. I was also really happy that Ariel decided to join us - she hasn't run with me on the trails since... spring?

The afternoon was spent packing and cleaning. AND PLAYING WITH BATMAN AND HIS NEW HARNESSS AND LEASH! (Which he doesn't love yet, but he will!)

We also had a happy hour with Mike and Tyler and FINALLY told them we are moving. Tyler is the most awesome neighbor ever and we will definitely miss him!!
Sunday (19,536 steps) - Slept in!! UNTIL LIKE 8:30. Took Pika for a short walk, then we went to the grocery store. Mountain breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon before another day of Home Depot stuff and packing.

After a long dry spell of not seeing any owls, we finally saw one VERY close up again! In the bottom picture he is eyeballing Pika - she does not care though.
Monday (26,091 steps) - Work from home. Same old, same old. Batman's newest gift finally came! (And yes, we are now "those" people). Again, he doesn't like it YET, but I am determined, and I'm sure he will learn to love it, haha.

I met Kristin at New Terrain so we could do a loop around North Table. I've run this trail a zillion times, and I still love it! Pika struggled a little, but none of us fell, so I consider it a success. Great "last run" before Moab 240 this weekend. (I'm feeling very undertrained, but I really didn't think this race was actually going to happen, so I've been barely maintaining mileage. Ah... we will see how it goes).

Had a beer with Kristin and Phil before heading home. Made dinner, more packing and cleaning. House is completely catastrophic right now, but we will get everything done eventually. Ugh.

  • 149,448 steps
  • 14.8 miles run
