All About the Bling

Some of you might be unaware of my stance on medals/bling. Just so there is NO confusion. I love it. Honestly, sometimes just THINKING about the awesome shiny medal I will get at the end of a race is all that keeps me going. Most fellow bloggers have the really awesome Allied Medal Holders. I bought a bunch of these (not so cheaply) last year to make sure I'd have enough so all my medals could be displayed in matching cases. (I personally like the Allied ones better, but I already have these...) Anyway, I certainly do NOT just toss mine in a drawer. When I get around to it, they are hung up on my wall even!

Sometimes I might be too lazy to hang up the display, but they are still hung up nicely (although the case is on the floor - and has been for... at least 2-3 months now).

I will admit that I am NOT so great about getting them hung up. Actually J does it for me. I just need to remind him to do it and tell him which order they go in... So for a few months they just *might* be in a heap on my dresser (for shame)

I know not everyone feels the same way I do about medals. Considering I'm not super awesome fantastic at anything, these are the only real awards I've ever really received, and I'm damn proud of them. So you better believe I'll have them on display for anyone/everyone to see.

Happy Friday! Have an AWESOME weekend!

  1. I loooooooove the bling at the end of races. They get me through those tough miles too! And admittedly, I wear them as if they are a necklace for the entire weekend just because I love them so much.

  2. The totally anal organization freak in me needs to know what order they're in...alphabetically by state, or in the order you earned them, or what?! :)

  3. So cool! I'm glad you took pictures and showed us. I am pretty much only motivated by the medal. I mean people can ask what my time was, and then that just pisses me off. But a medal, that always looks pretty, no matter the time - slow or fast!

Ooh, I echo Fiona's question! My guess is they are in order of when you earned them? I'm judging this by the Royal Family 5K being immediately followed by the Princess Half medal.

  8. I was never a big fan of medals until I saw someone put them on her tree - now I'm saving mine up for Christmas decorations!

  9. No way, I totally get it -- I'm ALL about the medal, too! (And my running club gives out ribbons for their races, which I also super duper love.. brings me back to the days of track & field day in elementary school -- everyone is a winner!)

NICE displays! I really should invest in something like that... :)

  11. I had to chuckle that the line in your last post was " man, I suck" and then post you shared your wonderful bling. Apparently you do NOT suck, you rock!

  14. I love your medal display boxes! Speaking of bling, have you seen the Vail Diva's Half medal? Serious blingage. I saw it at the Bolder Boulder expo. I'm a little sad I will miss that. My Pikes Peak Ascent is the day before and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to move for a week after that!
