Week in Review (September 4 - September 10)

Tuesday (37,049 steps) - Vacation Day 6!
Wednesday (13,813 steps) - Vacation Day 7! Once home I threw in a load of laundry and we both showered. Headed up to Boulder in time for the road run.
A didn't want to run so I did a run/walk by myself, adding an extra loop around the lake for a bit more mileage. Not horrible.
Thursday (13,805 steps) - Long day at work trying to get caught up. Went to BPCO. A didn't want to run, so I ran (fast) alone, a loop and a half around the small lake.
Friday (11,584 steps) - Went to the gym and took core/strength classes. Both were really hard!
Saturday (38,248 steps) - Runners Edge! I decided on 16 miles, which ended up being the perfect amount. We were running in Greenwood Village, which is deceptively hilly. 16 was actually more than enough. I did ok the first 12, but really suffered miles 13-14.

We picked up our aid station and then headed over to Dulce's house for a special second Saturday. We had a variety of mimosas and other beverages before walking over to the Annual Festival Italiano at Belmar. We had an absolute blast tasting pizza, pasta and random desserts. On the way back to Dulce's I bought the most random piece of art. Support local artists?

On the way home we stopped at Michael's to pick up a frame for it, then we did nothing the rest of the night.
Sunday (26,496 steps) - Thankfully, the September RMRR trophy series race was on Big Dry Creek, so we didn't have to get up CRAZY early. It was a pretty small turnout, as there were apparently lots of other races happening that day.
I was super tired from running long the day before so I decided to go for intervals again. Like last time, it worked out fantastically. I ended up running substantially faster than my predicted time (and miraculously scored a PR) and got the blue ribbon

After, we went to Kachina with Jon, Paula & Zach. Fun times hanging out.
Once at home we watched Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and a few Lifetime movies.
Monday (11,698 steps) - Core/strength classes at the gym. "Highlight" of the workout was doing planks with my feet on an upside down Bosu and hands on a medicine ball. Lordy. A had a Scout meeting so no trail run.

Stats:
  • 152,693 steps
  • 31.8 miles run
  • 11 miles of hiking, 2 hours at the gym

Week in Review (August 28 - September 3)

Tuesday (8,153 steps) - NOTHING!
Wednesday (18,198 steps) - Core & strength at the gym. We did the core in circuits using the TRX, and it was pretty tough. Strength was even harder since I was the only one. I picked up A during my lunch break. After work we went to Denver Roost's off site run club at Banded Oak.

I ran with Susan, Maureen & Colfax - it was probably the best I have felt during a run in ages. Had food and beer, then headed home to pack up the car.
Thursday (9,027 steps) - Vacation day 1!
Friday (10,409 steps) - Vacation day 2!
Saturday (40,243 steps) - Vacation Day 3 - The Rut 28k!
Sunday (23,290 steps) - Vacation Day 4!
Monday (29,860 steps) - See vacation recap

Stats:
  • 139,180 steps
  • 19.1 miles run
  • One trip to the gym and six hikes totaling over 20 miles!

Day 1 - Wyoming

Thursday

I got off work at 3 and headed home to pick up A and throw the last of our stuff in the car. We were on the road by 3:45. Unfortunately, that was still not early enough to miss the traffic on I-25. (Not sure there ever IS a good time to miss it, however). We stopped for dinner in Laramie at Altitude Chophouse & Brewery. We couldn't decide what sounded good, so we split a burger and a personal pizza. Delicious.

Beautiful sunset on our drive to Rawlins
I had booked a hotel in Rawlins, and we arrived there just before 9:00. Strangest check-in procedure ever - we had to go to the attached diner. Watched some Netflix and in bed relatively early.
