I will bring more than one outfit, but the tank will DEFINITELY be getting used. Holy crow, that is insanely hot, and I'm going to be out there ALL DAY.
I can answer a few questions in regards the course. As far as I know, there are no water crossings. Here is what it says on the website:
This year’s race will be run on the beautiful Monitor and Merrimac trail 16 miles north of Moab. Racers will run 5.37 mile laps and approximately 11,000′ of climbing for the entire 100 miles. A rolling course, each lap starts at 4524’, reaches a high point of 4982’ and a low point of 4490’.
What does that mean exactly? Dunno, but the pictures I have seen of the course looks like it's on a dirt trail/road. The views? Ridiculous:

Anyway, I pretty much cannot stop thinking about this race. I am excited. I am nervous. I am scared. But. I am also confident that I can do this. I might just need a few reminders.
As an aside, this is a cute picture that was taken during Saturday's race:
Good Luck and Have Fun!!!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to hear how this goes for you!! Good luck out there, have fun and enjoy those views!!
ReplyDeleteBring sunblock! Have fun and GL!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's already here. You are gonna do awesome. And just an FYI: Black attracts sun! So, I would wear a lighter color compression sock and throw them out if they get too dirty afterwards. That way your legs don't get too hot...if they're gonna carry you for 100 miles, they should be happy!
ReplyDeleteI love the pic!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this weekend!
i didn’t know it was already that hot out there…geez. but goodness it is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Can't wait to see your pics. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some heat. Sorry. I had three marathons in the 80's this year but I can't imagine climbing and running 100 miles in those temps. Be careful!
ReplyDeletei would need a portable fan for that kind of mileage. don't forget your sunscreen
ReplyDeleteDo you repeatedly run the same 5+ miles? I'm going to need to check the race site.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about the socks getting dirty, go with white. Black will be way too hot. You won't car about dirt when you are over-heating. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I'm sure you are already singing the mantra.
Love it!! then come tell me all about it.
1. You rock.
ReplyDelete2. You have to run the same 5(ish) miles over and over again?! Do they have someone counting laps for you? LOL
3. Agree with the others about avoiding black socks, but not because of temps (although good point.) I drive a black car up and down a dirt road every day, and the dirt shows just as bad, if not worse, than on a light-colored car. ;) I definitely wouldn't wear any socks you especially love, because you'll probably never get them truly clean again, no matter what color they start out being.
