Week in Review (September 25 - October 1)

Tuesday (16,001 steps) - With no run on Monday, and no run planned for Wednesday, I figured I should at least do SOMETHING early in the week. Went for a solo run to the lake. It wasn't as warm as it has been, so it was comfortable. Not an awful run.
Wednesday (11,313 steps) - Core and strength class before work. After work we went to the meeting for the 2020 Leadership summit. We had heard about it a few weeks earlier, but this was mandatory for more information. Turns out that it was like attending a timeshare sales pitch... It was nice that we ran into Ang, as her daughter was interested in attending as well.
Handed a shiny brochure, watched a few videos, and by the time the pricing was announced (and it was EXPENSIVE), it was already "sold out." I went ahead and put a deposit down for A to be on the wait list, we will find out in a week or so if they plan on opening more slots.
Thursday (13,323 steps) - Headed down to Lakewood for Belmar Run Club since Newton was there to demo shoes. Ran the big loop with Dulce, then headed home. Fun night, wish it didn't take so long to get down there during the week.
Friday (10,445 steps) - Went to Lakewood during lunch to pick up my packet for Bear Chase. So frustrating that it took about 15 minutes to get there, and like 40 to get back home. Blech. After work got all the way to the grocery store before realizing I had left my fancy cupcake at the office. We made the idiotic decision to drive back downtown (during a Rockies game) to get it before picking up Rachelle. By the time we got home it was about 8:30, gave me enough time to get my stuff ready for the morning, in bed by 9:30.
Saturday (62,718 steps) - Bear Chase 50K!
Finally felt "hungry" by the time we were heading home. After Rachelle's dad picked her up I ordered to go mac n' cheese from Old Chicago and booked our spring break trip (since there was a massive fare sale). In bed early - so tired!
Sunday (10,459 steps) - Another early morning. We left the house early to get to Cattail Creek aid station to volunteer with Pete for the shorter Bear Chase distances. It was soooo cold!
There did not seem to be nearly as many runners as past years, and we finished up earlier than expected. Headed to the finish line for pancakes and socializing.

Drove down to Bad Daddy's in Littleton to meet up with Jackie for a long overdue lunch. Burgers were delicious and it was great to see her again.
On the way home we stopped to buy eggs so we could make cookies for our upcoming potluck. Did some laundry, watched TV, in bed EARLY.
Monday (19,226 steps) - Core and strength classes before work. Finally went to New Terrain for run club, we hadn't been there in well over a month. The top of my foot had been hurting since I finished Bear Chase, but I was optimistic that I could get through a run. Shortly after getting up the initial hill my calves were screaming - worse than usual. Opted to just run along the canal. Ended up being really nice (and cool!)
It also got dark way earlier than usual. It's apparently headlamp time of year, womp womp.

Stats:
  • 143,485 steps
  • 41.4 miles run
  • 2 days at the gym

Week in Review (September 18 - September 24)

Tuesday (9,162 steps) - Nada?
Wednesday (18,581 steps) - Runners Roost Boulder! Hoka was there to demo shoes, so I decided I would try the Torrent. I didn't love it though.
It was raining pretty decently on our drive up, but it stopped right as our run was starting. I was blah pretty much the whole time, maybe I'm recovering from Sourdough? It was certainly hard on the way up (NCAR trail route, blech), but the way down was ok.

Thursday (15,680 steps) - Went to BPCO for the GABR! (Great American Beer Run!) Right before the run started A and I had a "discussion" about her lying and improper cell phone usage. She knew I was mad so she actually stayed with me on the run. We stopped at Goldspot for a 3 oz taster, then met up at Call to Arms for a pint. Chatted with Laurie Williams about her upcoming race in Germany, then we headed home for dinner.
Friday (11,368 steps) - Went to the gym before work for core & strength. Nothing really sticks out, other than I did a LOT of planks. Had to go to Highlands Ranch to the dealership so Lucy could get an oil change. It was actually "fast" - only 90 minutes. I ordered Red Robin on the way home. I got there at the time for pick up and it wasn't ready - took another 20 minutes. They were super rude about it too, so we won't be back.
Saturday (22,109 steps) - Ran an "easy" 8 with Runners Edge. Had planned on maybe 10, but 8 seemed like plenty.
We went to brunch at the Sweet Spot - so good!!
We stuck around forever at the store, long enough for the old team gear to get pulled out, which resulted in me buying some stuff. Grocery shopping and not much else.
Sunday (31,618 steps) - Snow Mountain Ranch half marathon.
Maureen, Colfax, A and I shut the place down. We planned to meet up in Idaho Springs at Tommyknockers. There was a ton of traffic getting there, and once we were parked the wait was pretty long, so we went to Westbound & Down. It was also crowded, but we found room at a big table. Took Colfax for a walk before heading home. Long day!
Monday (13,501 steps) - 6 am classes with Dallas. I was the only one in both classes, so I really got tortured. Since I didn't have a run, I told him we could do lower body stuff in strength, and WOW, was it hard!!
Stats:

  • 122,019 steps
  • 30.1 miles run
  • 2 hours at the gym

Week in Review (August 14 - August 20)

Tuesday (12,805 steps) - Went to the Denver Roost for the run and subsequent book launch with Kara Goucher and Emelie Forsberg.

It was kinda raining for the run, but it wasn't that bad, and much cooler than it has been lately. I didn't buy either of the books, but A still got her picture with both of them.

Wednesday (21,368 steps) - Core and PF360 Strength classes before work. Then up to Runners Roost Boulder for the weekly trail run. I ran with Jeremiah most of the time, but it was definitely a struggle. Crazy, I haven't even been running much.

Thursday (13,581 steps) - First day of school for A! I was happy to hear that she had a good day, I was a tad apprehensive about her attending a new school where she didn't know but a handful of kids.
Belmar run club after. I ran with Mo and Colfax and it was pretty terrible. The air quality has been awful with all the fires and both of us were tired. Meh.
Friday (12,017 steps) - Hm. Today happened, and I don't remember anything other than grocery shopping and vacuuming.
Saturday (30,317 steps) - Long run with Runners Edge! I still don't have a training plan, so I decided I would do 10 miles. It wasn't terrible.

We had a tasty breakfast at Duffyroll before heading home to shower and then driving up to Leadville to spectate.
Traffic was wretched because of the Colorado Classic and it rained for half the drive. We had a great time hanging out with everyone at the Roost tent at Twin Lakes, even though we got there too late to see most people.

Our New Balance rep Andrew Letheby (a 2:09 marathoner!) running his first 100! (He ended up in 22nd place overall!)
We had dinner in Leadville with Mary, Steve & Sandy, which was a blast.
Headed over to the finish line in time to watch Rob win. It was a pretty fun visit, we need to stay the whole weekend next time.

By the time we got home it was LATE.
Sunday (16,075 steps) - We both really wanted to sleep in. I don't think we were up until nearly 10. We went out for breakfast and then sat around watching TV. Headed over to North Table for a "biggish" loop - it was mostly cloudy, which made it pretty bearable.

Dinner, TV & bed. Wow, we are exciting people!
Monday (8,488 steps) - Core and PF360 Strength classes. After I picked up A from Scouts we went to Berekely for the UTMB panel. Ugh, so inspiring, yet soooo out of my league. Another late night.

Stats:
  • 114,651 steps
  • 29.1 miles run
  • 2 hours of cross training

Week in Review (August 7 - August 13)

Tuesday (6,498 steps) - Not even sure what happened today that I managed to move so little. I do know that I picked up A at Sonya's house after work and then we went to Kristin's house for a "100 celebration." I was beyond impressed that she made pizza(s) in the shape of 100! So cool!
Wednesday (23,008 steps) - Core and PF360 Strength classes again. My abs were actually sore from the class I took on Monday, so the gym is doing exactly what I had hoped! Both classes felt a lot harder today. It's been a while since I got out of my comfort zone. Runners Roost Boulder!
For the first time, my friend Liz (gal I met in Chattanooga, that has since moved to Boulder-ish area) came to run club! It was hot and sunny, but still a fun run (even though my right ankle was still sore).
After, we had a cool presentation by Dave Mackey - enjoyable evening!
Thursday (10,951 steps) - Went to Berkeley Park. No running, but we did do a walk around one of the lakes before the presentation with folks about DNF'ing at Leadville. Another fun night, although we ended up being there a bit later than I would have liked for a weeknight.

Friday (14,920 steps) - Dropped A off for camp on my way to work. Walked on the treadmill after work to get my steps for the day, otherwise, watch a movie and went to bed early-ish.
Saturday (39,012 steps) - Run the Rockies half marathon!
Once I got home, I took a shower and then tried to take a nap for a few hours before heading to Dulce's house for the "Taco Bout 5K." It was approximately one million degrees by the time we headed out. Zach, Dulce, Mo, Colfax & I all stuck together for most of the run. Collected our nifty medals at the end.
Stuck around for a single margarita and a tortilla-less taco before heading to Yak & Yeti to meet Jessa for dinner. Had a good time with Jessa, her cousin and son before we went back to her house for a nightcap. Latest I've been out in ages, didn't get home until 11!
Sunday (7,727 steps) - As much as I love being active, I also really enjoy doing NOTHING! Stayed in bed late (like 9:30?) and then watched a movie. I was also productive - I vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen & did laundry. Picked up A at Jan's house, then finished cleaning and organizing stuff that I had been putting off since last summer. We went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner, then stopped at Home Depot on the way home so I could get a curtain rod for my medals. I finally ran out of wall space and figured I didn't need to spend so much money on actual medal hangars. It came out pretty nice, and was a LOT cheaper.
Monday (13,905 steps) - Core and PF360 Strength classes! It's so hard to believe that simple circuits are such good exercise, but I certainly feel it! Skipped our weekly trail run because it was BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT. A is going into middle school (7th grade) and it was a chaotic adventure trying to find her locker and classrooms. It's going to be an interesting year for sure.

Stats:

  • 116,021 steps
  • 24.1 miles run
  • 2 hours at the gym

Week in Review (September 8 - September 14)

Tuesday  (13,883 steps) - Peloton ride and Olive walk before going to work in office. Went to the gym at lunch and did some strength trainin...
