Week in Review (June 27 - July 3)

Tuesday (10,198 steps) - Peloton ride before going to work in the office.
Pretty sure I'll never get 1st in anything ever again on Peloton
Cross training at lunch. Ben and I had a watch party "The Black Demon," a ridiculously terrible movie.
Wednesday (20,300 steps) - Work in the office. After work I headed over to Dinosaur Ridge for my (5 minute!) hill repeats. It was a pretty intimidating workout - but I nailed it. I've really gained so much confidence working with Greg.

Thursday (23,086 steps) - Work from home. Had an "easy" run to do at lunch that did not feel easy after a few hard workouts this week, but overall it was fine.
Took Olive for a walk after that and ended up running into Tyler and his friend Colin. We all walked together, which was nice. Except... Olive decided to run in some weird bush/grass area and I was picking stuff out of her fur allll day.

Friday (14,451 steps) - Wash Park and coffee before work in the office. I was festive AF, hoping for an early release. Sadly, that didn't happen.
No idea what else happened.
Saturday (36,832 steps) - Up to the mountains with Ben! We had a plan to do our "easy progression run" in the mountains to at least get some benefit by running at altitude. We parked at Outer Range and did an out and back over the dam. The first half was fine - and pretty exciting because we saw moose!

Definitely started to not feel as great on the way back. Didn't help that it was windy! It was also sunny and warm.
Went to Whole Foods to have a piece of pizza before having a quick beer at Outer Range. Home in time to take Olive for a walk.

Ended up taking a nap until it was time for our "adventure" of the evening! Ben, Ariel and I met up with Kristin, Doug & Joe to see the new Indiana Jones movie. It was better than I expected. We all enjoyed it!
Sunday (24,967 steps) - Didn't get up early, which meant we had to run when it was pretty warm. Took Olive for her walk before meeting up with Ben at Rock Creek. By then, we actually ended up with some cloud cover, which was nice, since we were running in an exposed area. Never great, never "horrible."
4 Noses afterwards.
Had a movie night "Arctic Void." A decent movie, but it just kinda... ended.
Monday (20,343 steps) - Sadly a work from home and not 4 day weekend. Did my run early, and it wasn't bad at all. Then, took Olive for her walk.
Ben and I headed to New Image (Wheat Ridge location) in hopes of testing out the mudslide beer. Sadly, we were informed that even though it was still on the menu, they had been out of it for weeks.
Malone's afterwards for dinner.

Stats:
  • 150,177 steps
  • 41.11 miles run
  • 35 minutes of cardio
  • 35 minutes of strength

Day 5 - Grand Teton National Park

Monday

Didn't set an alarm, but we were still up by 7.
Plan was to try and camp at Jenny Lake, but we stopped at Colter Bay first. I desperately needed to shower, and it was absolutely worth the $4.50 a person to get that done. Picked up coffee and a cinnamon roll, stopped to get hiking maps, then drove south.
Unfortunately, Jenny Lake campground was already sold out, so we kept driving to Gros Ventre. We paid for two nights, set up camp and had lunch. The campsite had a lot of bees, one flew into A's sandwich and I had to kill another one the package of cheese because it couldn't seem to find it's way out. Traumatizing.
Opted to do the scenic drive before doing our two hikes. Just getting out of the campground we had an amazing view of the mountains with a giant herd of buffalo grazing. So cool!!
We stopped at almost every overlook to get pictures - the mountain range is just so incredibly impressive!

The ranger we had spoken with recommend we stop at Cunningham Cabin - a historic site where the homesteaders first lived. It was pretty nifty - they certainly could have picked an uglier place to settle!

Our first hike of the day was Taggart Lake - which I LOVED - this one was SO pretty.

Had an early dinner at a restaurant in Dornans - A had a giant bowl of pasta and I had a sandwich. We shared a delicious chocolate cheesecake.
We still wanted to do one more hike, so we drove down the road to the Laurence S. Rockefeller Preserve and hiked to Phelps Lake. I enjoyed this one as well.

On the drive back to the campsite we stopped at the Moose overlook - and saw... a moose! Actually a mom and baby, but we couldn't get very good pictures. Also saw some elk, a raccoon and a VERY brief glimpse of a bear! Fun wildlife sightings!

Netflix and bed.
