Week in Review (July 7 - July 13)

Tuesday (14,192 steps) - Quick Peloton ride and Ben and I walked Olive before I went to work. Gym at lunch for stair climber and some bodyweight strength, plus a quick cooldown walk on the treadmill.
Did a quick delivery on my way home and took Olive for a walk.
Someone gave Al googly eyes??!
Dinner and Good Fight.
Wednesday (23,426 steps) - Ben and I walked Olive before I went to work. We had a fire drill in the morning - I can't remember the last time had one, I think they have ended up being on my remote days the last few years. Even though it was in the mid 90's, I went for a walk at lunch. After work I hurried up to Boulder for my hill workout of the night - Sanitas. I had invited both Andrew and Larry to join me. I had plans to do approximately 1.5 reps for about 2000' of gain. Larry and I lost Andrew early on in the climb and when we got to the summit we went back down to get him and summit a second time.

This was actually a great idea to get more of the vert in before heading down. It's been over a year since I was on this trail last and it was NOT in great shape - lots of loose rocks and gravel, so it was slow going. Andrew crushed us both on the descent on the fire road, however.

He had to head out and Larry joined me for another partial climb up to hit my vert goal. Home and Ben surprised me with Cheba Hut - yum!
Thursday (15,121 steps) - Walk with Ben and Olive. Easy run with strides before it got too horrifically hot out.
Shorter walk with Olive at lunch BECAUSE it was too hot and a strength workout. Torchy's for dinner and then took Olive for a walk. Good Fight.
Friday (15,135 steps) - Since I woke up in time, Olive and I went down to Wash Park. It was good to see everyone and I was glad we made it this week since Pete was spreading the rest of Rocket's ashes. Had to walk Olive early because 1). she was bored and 2). it was horrifically hot again.
Sneaked out of work a few minutes early so we could rush home and finish packing for another trip up the hill. We made good time, no traffic, and of course our first stop was Outer Range.
We picked up full pizzas from Whole Foods for dinner. Stayed up too late.
Saturday (40,081 steps) - Took Olive for a walk early before Lee gave us a ride to the Far East lot to pick up Christina for our mountain activity. We were planning on a modified route from the one we had done a few years ago - starting at the trailhead for Rainbow Lake, going up Miner's Creek and going over the peaks to Wheeler Junction. I was glad to have the time with Christina since she is going to be pacing a section at Summit. The weather was perfect, although almost too warm.

The chubbiest marmot
We had a great day, and other than it being almost a mile longer than we thought - a good time. Lee kept us entertained with sending us "proof of life" pictures of Olive.

Christina dropped us off at Lee's so we could change and grab Olive, and then the four of us went to a new (to all of us) restaurant - Tacos and Tequila. The food was SO GOOD!
A very delicious virgin PiƱa Colada
Christina headed home and we went to Outer Range. Picked up Cheba Hut on the way back to Lee's. Another Olive walk and up late again.
Sunday (15,415 steps) - We slept later than normal, so by the time we headed out for our activity the trailhead we wanted to park at was full, so we went somewhere new. With no idea of where we were going, we let Olive pick the route. We somehow ended up on a bunch of trails that had access to water and Olive managed to direct us in a lollipop. Not as much vert or mileage as I wanted, but it was a good day and new to us trails!
Stopped for breakfast at the Sunshine Cafe (DELICIOUS). Not pictured is the slice of German Chocolate cheesecake I got to go.
Our visit wasn't great because some yokel/regular showed up right when we started eating. He talked absolutely NONSTOP and had an offleash dog that just wandered around the patio. Annoying. Packed up all our things and headed out midafternoon. A few slowdowns in the usual places, but not terrible. Unpacked and did laundry. Ben made dinner while I walked Olive.
Monday (21,330 steps) - With yet another day forecasted to be hot and miserable, I got up early to do my run. It wasn't awful, but I still don't like running early.

Had time to also walk Olive before clocking in for the day - although we had to do a different route because they are pouring new cement on the bike path.
With it being horribly hot, we decided to go to an early movie - Toy Story 5 (which we both really liked and were probably the only people there that weren't kids or parents of small children). We had an early dinner during the movie (hello, royale with cheese). Walked Olive when we got home and spent some time on the phone with Jillian.
Finally got around to watching a bit of Good Fight.

Stats:
  • 144,700 steps
  • 30.85 miles run
  • 15.97 miles walked
  • 45 minutes of cardio
  • 50 minutes of strength
  • 0 minutes of sauna

Week in Review (June 9 - June 15)

Tuesday (14,593 steps) - Peloton and Olive walk (with Ben!) before going to work.
Gym at lunch for StairMaster, weights and a treadmill walk.

Went for another quick walk in the afternoon just to get out of the office. Olive walk when I got home from work. Ariel came over for dinner and to spend the night! Good Fight.
Wednesday (21,861 steps) - Olive walk before work. Ariel was taking Olive to HER work for the day, fun!
Olive the intern!
Long walk at lunch. After work I went home to change and Ben and I went to the lake for my hill workout. Even though it was 90 degrees it wasn't horrible.
After dinner I took Olive for another walk. Good Fight.
Thursday (18,433 steps) - Ugh, I woke up hours before I needed to be up - annoying!! Finished the book I was reading and went for my run. It was quite a nice morning and the run went well, but a heart rate glitch early in the run had Garmin giving me a horrible performance score - good thing it doesn't actually matter.
Got my strength training in and Ben and I took Olive for a long walk to the lake at lunch. Did a delivery before meeting Ben at Torchy's for our normal Thursday dinner date. Got another good offer on my way home and unfortunately closed my thumb in my car door (??) - hurt so bad and my thumb immediately turned purple and began to swell. Olive walk and packed for our weekend camping trip before more Good Fight.
Friday (16,091 steps) - Once again, up early. That meant we had time to go to Wash Park for the group walk before going to work.
Olive and I went for our lunch walk early to beat the heat.
I left work a little bit early so I could do last minute packing and we could head up to Summit County to hopefully avoid traffic. I still had to bring my laptop to work in the car for about a half hour, but it was better than nothing. Thankfully there was basically no traffic and we were on the road in no time. Of course our first stop was Outer Range, but we didn't stay too long and we were at our campsite by 7 with plenty of time for Ben to make dinner - hot dogs!

Long day and we didn't stay up late.
Saturday (28,602 steps) - Quick lap around the campground with Olive and coffee before I headed out for an hour(ish) run on the rec path.

We had hoped to do a fun loop up near Ten Mile, but the road we needed to go up was closed. Instead, we drove up Miner's Creek and did a figure 8 loop that I created off Gaia. It was pretty great! Seemed to be relatively primitive single track and we only saw one bike the whole time!

First columbine of the year!!
Outer Range, and I had an ahi tuna bowl. Lee came by the campsite to hang out for a bit to hang out, burgers for dinner.
We had a little bit of rain on and off and we were in bed even EARLIER.
Sunday (14,951 steps) - Quick Olive walk around the campsite and coffee. We had been on the fence about heading home and I decided I'd rather go home. We opted to go into Frisco and do a "quick" trip up to Mt. Royal. While I've been on the lower trails plenty of times, I've only been to the summit of Royal once.

This is the tallest sign I've ever seen

We hurried back to load up the camper since check out was 11 am. Stopped by Outer Range for a quick lunch before going home.
Surprisingly little traffic for leaving around 12:30 on a Sunday! Got everything unpacked and spent the afternoon unwinding from the weekend. Ben ordered in pizza for dinner and Good Fight.
Monday (22,195 steps) - Olive walk in the morning with Ben before I logged in for the day. Ben and I went for an easy late morning run.
We also took Olive for a long walk. All the cacti are blooming AND we saw our first owls of the year - much later than usual and we have been worried about them!

I have been talking about it for ages, but I finally went through and decided to retire a bunch of running shoes. I seem to be collecting them and these are ones that I just haven't been wearing. I have been hesitant to get rid of them because they still "seem fine" - but it just doesn't really make sense to hold on to them.
After work I did a few deliveries and then Ben and I walked down the street for an impromptu sushi dinner!
Took Olive for another walk when we got back. Relaxing and Good Fight.

Stats:
  • 136,726 steps
  • 26.09 miles run
  • 20.4 miles walked
  • 40 minutes of cardio
  • 50 minutes of strength
