I headed back to the room to finish up packing and debated about finding somewhere to stop along the way to get a short walk in. Finally decided I was just tired of dealing with the car and driving and that I just would feel way less stressed if I went to return the car. Drive was uneventful, other than the tire light still being on - but not that much traffic once I got on the highway.
Then things went from mildly annoying to worse. The same guy who helped me with the car was the one checking the car back in. They must have made a notation in my account when I called about getting the flat tire because he beelined right for that tire. First, he claimed that the replacement tire was the "wrong one" - even though we replaced with the exact same size that had been on in the first place and was the same size as the other tires. Another one of the tires had a "bulge" on the sidewall and he also claimed there were new scratches to both the wheels on left (passenger) side. He says "don't worry, your insurance company will reimburse for this but you agreed to the pricing when you rented the car." ANY GUESSES ON HOW MUCH I GOT CHARGED????? Just under $1,800 USD. On top of the $200ish I had already paid for the first tire. I WAS LIVID. Are you serious?!?! The video that I had taken when I picked up the car did not show a ton of detail on the tires/wheels and it was raining at the time. I was more looking for dents and chips in the windshield. I have been renting cars for over 20 years and have never in my LIFE been charged for any damages. I will update if/when I get resolution from the credit card company.

Took the shuttle back towards the airport and still had to get on the underground to get to the terminal. When I had checked in for my flight I got a notice that since the flight was full I could check my carryon as well. I was REALLY happy to get rid of that as well and have just the one bag to carry around. I had a lot of time to kill before my flight so I had a second breakfast and coffee before going through security.
One GOOD thing that happened in London is that they have increased the fluid size for going through security! I was able to bring a full unopened liter of water through security. Hopefully the rest of the world catches up with that.
I wandered around for a while since in Europe they don't tell you what your gate is until like 45 minutes before departure. Towards the end of the boarding groups, but the flight was nowhere near full. Not that I minded! Tried watching 28 Years Later and it was so bad I stopped and watched Dead of Winter instead. Also not great, but gave me something to watch. Watched some Gossip Girl episodes. SUPER restless on this flight.
We landed like 35 minutes early. Deplaning took barely any time. LONG walk to customs that seemed to go much faster than I remembered, my bags were some of the first to arrive and I was out the door and waiting for Ben to pick me up before our flight was originally even supposed to land. Fun thing that happened was running into someone I used to run with at passenger pickup.
We headed home since I wasn't really hungry to stop somewhere. Took Olive for a walk and then started, did some unpacking and started laundry since I had a lot of stuff to go through. Ben ordered in Panda for dinner.
Had plans to maybe watch something but decided I was too tired and went to bed early - thanks to the time change I had nearly been up for 24 hours again.
After work I dropped Olive off at home and met Ben at 4 Noses for happy hour. We didn't stay too long and ordered in Thai food for dinner.
Wednesday (12,911 steps) - I probably could have gone to work but decided I didn't want to. Had a very productive morning! Did a short and easy Peloton ride in between doing laundry and finishing unpacking. Took Olive for a long walk to the lake.
We did a couple miles and picked up trash for Earth Day. Ben picked up a pizza on the way home for dinner. Once again, decided to skip watching anything in favor of going to bed early.
Thursday (10,206 steps) - Woke up stupidly early because apparently my sleep is all out of whack. Ben got us Dutch Bros. to start the day, yay! Another easy Peloton ride before my first day back to work after being out for almost two weeks. "Only" had 305 emails. A decent amount of those were because I forgot to turn off court notifications when I covered Celeste's attorneys before I went on vacation. I was caught up within a few hours so it wasn't terrible. Ariel showed up and we went to Einstein's for a breakfast sandwich. Took Olive for a long walk at lunch and used the sauna. After work I did a delivery before meeting Ben at Torchy's for dinner. We took Olive for another walk when we got home. Finally sat down to watch tv! First up was "The Cutoff" - a film about the DFL runners of Cocodona. We got about halfway through an episode of Good Wife before going to bed early yet again.
Friday (10,382 steps) - Woke up before my alarm yet again. Slept a tiny bit better, but still not great with ankle pain waking me up. Took Olive on a walk before going into the office for work. Took Olive for a walk at lunch.
Saturday (11,767 steps) - We managed to stay in bed until something crazy like 7 am!! We were lounging around having coffee when I saw the Facebook reminder that Nikki's Celebration of Life was later that morning. I decided I would walk Olive and then head up to Broomfield. I don't think there is anything more depressing than a service for a teenager. Ben had gone to Costco to pick up some groceries and got us both lunch from the cafe. While we were eating lunch I realized I had a missed call from Ariel. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. We didn't have any plans PREVIOUSLY, but our new plans included going to Golden to see what is going on NOW with Ariel's car. After doing some troubleshooting, Ben thinks it is the clutch slave cylinder. Yippee. Left Ariel with my car and then Ben and I took Olive to Fairmont trail for a walk.
Went to New Terrain after. It was a zoo, so we didn't stay too long. Ben ordered in Cupbop for dinner.
We watched Scream 7 (how many more of these can they possibly make?) and started an episode of Good Wife.
Sunday (10,964 steps) - Ben picked up Dutch while I did a Peloton ride and used the sauna. We decided we would go up to Boulder for a hike. I had mapped out a little bit of a different route. The sky looked pretty moody, but we didn't really think anything of it.
The "new" trail section was quite nice! Single track and we hardly saw anyone out. Of course that could have been because they weather was iffy.
We were just a couple tenths from meeting up with the main trail when it started to rain. No big deal, how hard could it possibly rain? It hasn't rained in ages? Well, the answer is - IT POURED. We started to run down when the thunder/lightning started. That was not in the plan at all!! We were all completely drenched by the time we got back to the truck. I was wearing a regular hoodie that was saturated and my pants were just as soaked as when I was running in Wales. Olive was also unamused.

We still went over to Rails End since Ben had extra hoodies in the truck. We didn't stay too long, mostly because we were both freezing. Home for a shower and smorgasbord of cheese for snacks. Good Wife!
Monday (11,147 steps) - YAY FOR WORK FROM HOME!! I had to schedule the tow for Ariel's car, but the good news was that once the car got to the shop they said it was in fact what Ben suspected and they would be able to get it fixed same day.Did a Peloton ride, laundry, worked, took Olive for a long walk at lunch.
Ariel showed up right as I was getting off work to pick me up so we could switch cars. I REALLY HOPE THAT IS THE LAST OF CAR STUFF FOR A WHILE. Took Olive for a walk when I got back home and Ben made dinner. We watched a few episodes of "Zillow Gone Wild" before more Good Wife.
