Wednesday (86,830 steps) - Monster 300
Thursday (85,627 steps) - Monster 300. I drove back to Tucson, probably against better judgment. I had to stop along the way to nap in front of a gas station. Stopped at a second gas station to get a gigantic fountain drink. Stayed at the same hotel near the airport and had to lug all my crap to the room. Took a shower and basically blacked out in bed.
Friday (11,855 steps) - By the time I woke up breakfast wasn't even being served anymore. I didn't feel like I was missing out since it was just bagels anyway. Took another shower and then headed out to get brunch. I found this little hole in the wall place that was very unassuming but had good Yelp reviews.
The food was incredible and service was good. I ate 100% of what is in the below picture. The older gentleman next to me was incredulous and asked where I was storing all this food, haha.
I also splurged and got a cinnamon roll, but I only finished maybe 2/3 of it, it was HUGE.
I asked the employees if there was somewhere nearby to walk and was told I should check out Tumamoc Hill, even though they warned me it was paved. Fine by me, I don't want to see another trail for ages. I stopped at Walmart before going to the trailhead because I needed to get some water and more sunscreen. By the time I headed out it was about 100 degrees.
Round trip ended up being just under 3 miles and about 900' of gain. The climbing wasn't too bad, but the steeper descent did not make my feet happy at all.

I was already starting to fade, so I found a brewery between the hill and my hotel and stopped for one beer. Parking was a bit complicated, but it was a cute place and the hazy IPA was tasty.
Grabbed some beer to go and went back to the hotel. I fell asleep watching TV and woke up to texts from Ben telling me that he had door dashed food for me. YUMMY PANDA EXPRESS! And yes, I ate all this too.
After dinner I spent some time sorting through my mess of gear so that I wouldn't have as much to do in the morning.
Saturday (10,656 steps) - Woke up early and finished getting all my stuff packed up. Went back to Tropical Smoothie and got breakfast. Checked out just before 11. I wanted to get a walk in before my flight and couldn't seem to find anywhere that wasn't sketchy, so I ended up just walking around by my hotel. Tucson airport was super easy and I had a beer before boarding.
Flight was fast and I watched Yellowjackets. Ben picked me up at the airport and we went to Parry's for dinner. Took Olive for a walk (she was SO happy to see me). I wanted to relax on the couch and watch Handmaid's Tale, but warned Ben I was really tired and not sure what I was up for. I think we made it through a half an episode.
Sunday (12,401 steps) - Up just after 5:00 am because I am stupid and signed us up to volunteer at the Roost aid station for the Platte River half. Took Olive for a walk before heading out the door just after 6 am. Got the water and Gatorade tables set up and then volunteered for the next few hours.
I've run this race a few times and it definitely seemed like a much smaller crowd than years past. We went to Breckenridge Brewing for the after party - was worth it for a free beer and burrito. Home for a nap and an Olive walk before going to 4 Noses. Second nap after we got back and I think we made it through another episode of Handmaid's Tale.
Monday (10,688 steps) - Thankfully, work from home. Had less than 150 emails from the whole time I was out. Took Ariel to get coffee and took Olive for a long walk at lunch. Finished out my day at 4 Noses and finished writing up my race report for Monster.Handmaid's Tale.
