Wednesday (22,760 steps) - Walked Olive before going to work. I had a workout on schedule, but it's tough to get it done in a lunch hour. I cut out a few sets in order to have time. It was in the 40s, but with the sun it felt SO MUCH HOTTER.
I think this is a new mural |
I only made it about 20 minutes (maybe one interval) before I had to take off my long sleeve shirt because I was roasting. I was also having some stomach cramps so I had to walk quite a bit and find a bathroom, but then I felt better.
Since I had the workout built into my watch and I paused it while I was walking and using the bathroom it seemed like my pace was really slow, but I hit all my paces on the faster intervals, so I was happy about that. Took Olive for a walk when I got home - she look so adorable in her Grinch pj's.
Did some driving.
Thursday (10,837 steps) - Up early to do my 350th Peloton strength class. I chose another live class but still haven't gotten the elusive shout out. I was a bit hesitant to do this one since it was a longer lower body class, but got it out of the way early. Worked from home, did all my packing for the weekend and took Olive for a walk at lunch. Was going to do some driving but didn't get any good offers. Met Ben at Torchy's for our weekly dinner.
Friday (12,974 steps) - Up early to take Olive on a walk before Ben drove me to the airport. There was zero wait in security, so I just walked around the terminal until it was time to board. I was in the back, so loaded up from the back of the plane again.
Flight was uneventful and I think we left on time. I watched the Netflix documentary "Buy Now!" and it was pretty good. Definitely gives me some things to think about. Steph's flight was later than mine and somehow my gate was only a few down from hers.
To kill time I read my book and charged my phone. Steph also landed on time and we got her bag and headed to the rental car center. We picked a VW SUV for our vehicle and got out relatively quickly. It was about an hour drive to Cleburne where our hotel was, and we were both hungry and stopped at Hard Eight Pit BBQ.
The food was delicious, but expensive. We stopped at an Albertsons near the hotel so that we could get our food for morning. I had plans of going to bed really early. Due to our late lunch we didn't actually do dinner. After getting everything ready to go we relaxed in bed for a bit. There wasn't anything too exciting on TV, so I put on Christmas Vacation - which somehow Steph had never seen??!? Lights out at 8:30. I definitely tossed and turned for quite a bit before falling asleep.
Saturday (130,812 steps) - Dinosaur Valley 100M (recap to follow)
Sunday (112,677 steps) - Dinosaur Valley 100M (recap to follow)
I had really been hoping to not have to drive since it was over an hour to the hotel in Ft. Worth, but Steph said she wouldn't be able to. We stopped at Dairy Queen on our way out of town.
The plan was to get food later, but I really wanted to get as close to the hotel as possible before stopping again, although I did stop at a gas station to get something to drink (Topo Chico and a Dr. Pepper) for the drive. There was a decent amount of traffic for a Sunday afternoon, and it was tough to navigate a route to avoid the tolls, but we got to Ft. Worth without any major drama. We were both in the mood for Italian, so Steph suggested Olive Garden. I haven't been there in a zillion years, but it was definitely tasty!
Checked into our room and as soon as I found all my things, I took a shower and tried to pre-pack some of my things. Finally was just in the mood to sit, so I opened my Guiness NA. Probably only got through about a third of it before I decided I was going to have to sleep. Passed out almost immediately.
Monday (11,381 steps) - For the night of a big race, I actually slept REALLY well. I didn't wake up at all in the night, and I think I was up around 5:45. Since I had gone to bed before 10 I got about 8 hours! I played around on my phone for a bit and then went down to get some food by myself since Steph wasn't hungry.
We finished up our packing - all while housekeeping walked into our room at 9:30 in the morning WITHOUT KNOCKING?? Left the hotel at 10:45. We had found a place to do a shakeout walk, but we stopped to get a coffee on the way. We picked a place called 105 and I got a German Chocolate latte. Delicious!! We found a place called Airfield Falls Trail (it was really a bike path) that supposedly had a waterfall. It was actually really chilly out, the temperature was in the very low 50's and it was incredibly windy. It was a really pretty area, though!
The waterfall area was less than a half mile away from the parking lot.
We ended up walking past it for a bit so that we could get at least a mile long activity. We mapped our way to the airport (also having trouble avoiding tolls) and Steph found a cute hole in the wall Mexican restaurant for lunch. So much food!!!
Stopped to get gas (only took $11!) and then dropped the car off at the airport, just making it in time that I wouldn't get billed for another day. We WERE really early, we were both supposed to board around 5 pm and we had arrived around 1:45. Steph checked her bag and security was really quick. We figured we could walk around get our steps in. I noticed I had an email that my flight was going to be delayed - by two hours!!! UGH!! We decided to sit at a restaurant, and after 30 days, I had my first beer. I had wanted a local brew, but it was less expensive to get a mainstream one.
Sometime while we were sitting there I got ANOTHER email that my flight was delayed even LATER. This time it said it wasn't going to leave until almost 10 pm. UGH!!!! The only other flight (when I had checked earlier) was (originally) the latest flight of the night, leaving at 9:26. I went ahead and switched to that one, thinking that a half hour earlier was still earlier. Finally the restaurant I was sitting at closed, and knowing I wasn't going to be home until close to midnight I stopped to get food - a salad and brownie from Chic-Fil-A.
We did board and leave on time. FYI, it is hard to eat a salad on a Frontier plane with the smallest trays in the world. I was trying to watch "Platform 2" - and somehow it was even worse than the original. Very little turbulence getting in and I was in row 6 so got off the plane really fast. The bridge from A was closed (ANOTHER UGH) so I had to take the train. It was really crowded at passenger pick up and it was probably 11:15 before Ben picked me up. Longest day ever. (As an aside, I tracked my original flight, and it was delayed even more after I left and it supposedly didn't even leave Dallas until almost midnight, so I'm glad I changed flights. Frontier did also send me a $75 flight voucher for the delay).
Stats:
- 313,493 steps
- 108.12 miles run
- 12.28 miles walked
